Once upon a time Bronzong used to be on top of the world in the competitive world. Despite lacking reliable recovery it was a premier defensive wall no thanks excellent defensive typing, Levitate, and access to a few good status moves. But once gen 6 happened and the type chart changed so that Steel types no longer resisted Ghost and Dark type attacks, Bronzong gained two more common weaknesses and its usage plummeted as a result. And despite the passing generations, this temple bell remained relatively unchanged as the metagame repeatedly left it behind.

Use Iron Defense to boost your physical defense to greater heights, Rest when needed to recover, Body Press becomes your main attacking move in tangent with Iron Defense, and your last move is for coverage with Gyro Ball capitalizing on your low speed and Steel STAB, Extrasensory having decent neutral coverage and a lot of PP to spare, or Shadow Ball which is there to handle Ghost types that are immune to Body Press. Invest everything into HP and defense (Lowered speed nature so it can abuse Trick Room from a teammate), Leftovers provides extra recovery but a Chest Berry can work in tangent with Rest one time, Levitate is mandatory to deter Ground attacks and duck entry hazards, and tera typing either goes to Electric which with Levitate removes all weakness at the cost of most resistances or Fighting to give Body Press more power.

Boost special attack and special defense with Calm Mind, heal when needed with Rest, Psyshock is your STAB of choice that can also counter special walls but Psychic is good too for the extra power, and Flash Cannon serves as secondary STAB, though you can sub in Body Press for wider type coverage and offensive versatility, either that or Shadow Ball. Invest all in HP and physical defense again since Calm Mind has you covered on the special side, Leftovers or Chesto Berry for recovery support, Levitate gives you the extra type immunity against what would otherwise be a weakness, and tera type is Electric to remove all weaknesses but lose resistances.

Stealth Rock lays down versatile entry hazards, Hypnosis takes out a troublesome opponent temporarily, Trick Room gives your slow teammates a chance to shine, and Gyro Ball is there so you are not Taunt bait and benefit from your low speed with a strong STAB. Leftovers for some staying power, all in HP and physical defense again with minus speed, Levitate goes without saying, and tera type to Steel just to give Gyro Ball some extra oomf.
From standard defensive support to rusted bell that may have been better left off buried. Bronzong is a textbook example of how generational changes can flip the table and dethrone even the best the game has to offer.
