Oh, I have a title?
Despite being an old Pokémon form Gen 1, Tentacruel has a range of viable options.

Tentacruel has very good Sp.Def and Speed, and a reliable HP and Sp.Atk. Also, Tentacruel has access to both Toxic Spikes and Rapid Spin, which allows him to set hazards whilst removing his own.

Liquid Ooze - If you're not running a rain team, then this is the best. Stops HP from being sapped by common things like Leech Seed. Not the best, but useful.
Clear Body - Usable, but only good if you want to choose a set where every boost counts, and nothing can be lowered.
Hidden Ability: Rain Dish - Useful for Rain Teams, as it provides Tentacruel with a much needed means of recovery.

He will be my Squishy!
@ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Toxic Spikes

Black Sludge is better than Leftovers, as it provides a crippling wear-down for any non-poison types that are going for an item-swap.

Ice Beam has good coverage, and helps get rid of Grass-Type threats.
Rapid Spin has neutral coverage and removes hazards.
Scald is a powerful STAB, plus that Burn chance is too good to pass.
Toxic Spikes can cripple numerous teams that rely on bulky walls.

Other Options: Hydro Pump, Sludge Wave

Sceptile Leaf Blade

Nighttime Guardian
Tentacruel is pretty good. It gained a bit of competition from Toxapex this generation, who also runs in Alola Dex only competitions, but Toxapex is pretty bad in doubles as it's so passive. Tentacruel may not have the recovery or bulk that Toxapex has, but Tentacruel has actual offensive presence with a decent Sp.Atk stat and a good speed stat.

Tentacruel @ Assault Vest
-Muddy Water / Scald / Surf / Hydro Pump
-Sludge Wave / Sludge Bomb
-Ice Beam
-Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power Grass / Hidden Power Fire.

This is for Alola-Dex doubles. Tentacruel can be an attacker with a lot of special bulk. The water move depends on whether or not you want spread damage. Muddy Water hits both opponents, Surf hits your buddy too (handy if your buddy has Water Absorb like Vaporeon), and Scald and Hydro Pump are single-target options. The poison move is the same, Wave is spread damage, but also hits your buddy, and Bomb is single-target. Ice Beam hits Dragon types like Garchomp and Salamence. Dazzling Gleam is the easy-to-get option so you don't have to breed endlessly for a Hidden Power, but doesn't really cover anything noteworthy, although spread damage is nice. Hidden Power Grass destroys Storm Drain Gastrodon before it can Earthquake you. And Hidden Power Fire hits Celesteela and Kartana. Truth be told though, you don't need it to cover Kartana, Ice Beam also easily OHKO's it because Kartana has no special bulk.
