OHHH, I get it! Hoopa hooped us to another forum layout! That makes sense, I like this serebii lore.

poopa lol (Hoopa-Unbound) @ Choice Specs
    Ability: Magician
    EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    - Dark Pulse
    - Psyshock
    - Focus Blast / Hidden Power Fire
    - Trick / Thunderbolt

This has to be the EASIEST Hoopa-U set ever. Come in, click the appropriate coverage and potentially watch something fall. You just gotta get it in. ^^; Timid because Hoopa's at a special speed tier, it kind of wants to outpace any and all max speed base 70's and 77's, but if you REALLY just wanna be powerful go MODEST. Dark Pulse is coverage, Psyshock gives Hoopa the ability to sting Chansey, Focus Blast is soz you can OHKO Tar and decimate Steels, but I like Hidden Power as an option to immediately dispatch Zor and Ferro, but I guess Dark Pulse already does a bunch to em! Trick can cripple and in tandem with Magician, can further cripple another Pokemon should you attack at the right time! Like taking an Assault Vest or some Leftovers. Thunderbolt can be a safer option against those waters with unfortunate secondary typings like Gyarados, Grenny, Azu, and Fini. This one works best to immediately wear down bulkier teams with its immense power and potential Trick utility. Hoopa has horrible Def, it wont live much in the way of powerful Attacks, but it has a respectable Sp.Def and can take hits from there. Normally you wanna pair Hoopa with Volt-Turn or somethin, just to get it in safely. When you do, just click a move!

Back in Generation 6 DOU, Hoopa Unbound mainly serves as an attacker that can break protection moves with either Hyperspace Fury or Hyperspace Hole, but requires speed control to be efficient (and in case you didn't know, Hoppa Unbound was never banned in Gen 6 DOU). Then came Generation 7, Hoopa saw something that caught its interest - terrain seeds. Looking at its previous Trick Room set, Hoopa-Unbound decided to revamp itself, thus becoming the Trick Room setter in Doubles OU we all know today.

    Have you been doing seeds?!
    Ability: Magician
Item: Psychic Seed/ Misty Seed/ Sitrus Berry
    Nature: Brave
    192 HP/ 220 Atk/ 96 Def (Psychic Seed) or 96 HP/ 252 Atk/ 144 Def/ 16 SpA (Misty Seed)

    - Hyperspace Hole
    - Hyperspace Fury
    - Trick Room
    - Protect

Hoopa-Unbound performs best at Psychic Terrain as it not only boosts the power of Hyperspace Hole but also activates Psychic Seed, raising its Sp. Defense. Misty Terrain doesn't provide any extra firepower, but the Sp. Defense boost plus status immunity is still a nice touch. Sitrus Berry is for any team that doesn't have Lele or Fini. After consuming its item, Hoopa-Unbound can steal items with Magician. Hoopa-Unbound mainly targets berries for recovery.

Hyperspace Hole and Hyperspace Fury all break protection moves, though the latter lower Defense, be cautious of that. Trick Room is for speed control, and Protect is a crucial move in Doubles.

One thing Hoopa appreciate is Intimidate users such as Incineroar and Scrafty.

Do not give Hoopa Unbound Electric Seed or Grassy Seed. The defense boost may look appealing for Hoopa Unbound, but it conflicted with Hyperspace Fury since it drops Defense stat.

Hoopa Confide is a pretty decent Pokemon. Great Sp Attack, Decent Attack, Good Sp Defense, Interesting Typing, pretty awesome! Also, I love its design. Even better when I look at Unbound and that unholy transformation. Awesome.

+ 150 Sp Attack is amazing. That's the same as Primal Groudon and Reshiram
+ 130 Sp Defense really helps it take on Special Attackers
+ 110 Attack is good but Hoopa doesn't use it that often
+ Hyperspace Hole is a pretty awesome move. The rest of its movepool is really good too.
+ Its typing has some good points about it
    + I love its design

    - 60 Defense is pretty rubbish. Backed with an ok 80 HP, means that confined Hoopa can't take many Physcial Moves
    - 70 Speed is ok, but it could certainly be better
    - Magician is a pretty bad ability since you have to run an awkward gimmick in order to use effectively
    - 4x Weakness to Ghost and Dark. Ouch. Thankfully, it has no other weaknesses but still ouch...
    - Its Unbound Form is generally better

: As mentioned, Magician isn't great. There are a few good uses out of it such as focus sash, steal opponent's item but is a bit too situational.

Counters: Anything with Knock Off does pretty well since it usually OHKOs Confined Hoopa, unless it runs Sash and then it might steal your item. Not likely though. Sucker Punch works just as well too. Ghost or Dark Types such as Tyranitar, Spiritomb or Mimikyu can deal with Hoopa-C with little help. In a Nutshell: Ghost/Dark moves and there you go.

Now for Unbound Hoopa. Basically, Unbound Hoopa is like Confined Hoopa but more awesome. Almost all of its stats are increased and its typing changes so it doesn't have 2 double weaknesses anymore. It has a few downsides such as still being stuck with Magician and still having 60 Defense but it's still a really scary Pokemon.

+ 170 Sp Attack could be considered God-Like. That's higher than Ultra Necrozma and is now the same as White Kyurem.
+ 130 Sp Defense really helps it take on Special Attackers
+ 160 Attack is also monstrous. This thing hits hard as a mixed attack, which isn't too common
+ Hyperspace Fury is an even cooler move and only Hoopa-U can use it! Now that is awesome!
    + It no longer has a 4x Ghost/Dark Weakness
+ It's design is even more awesome. I mean, 21 feet tall? Scary. Very scary.

    - 60 Defense is still bad. Its HP is also still 80 so it ain't taking physcial hits any better
    - 80 Speed is a step up from 70 but it could still be a bit faster
    - Magician is still no better
    - Its new typing means it has no resistances. Also, it has a 4x Bug Weakness and a 2x Fairy Weakness.

: Not much better with its Unbound form. Still, you could perform the same gimmicks again but don't count o nthem working

Counters: Mega Scizor takes hits pretty well and can OHKO back with a Technician-Boosted Bug Bite. Mimikyu's Let's Snuggle Forever works as well, Tapu Fini has good bulk and destroy the genie with a Fairy-Move; Bugs and Fairies. They're your key.
