In this moveset, Aggron takes on the role of a trickster, initially setting a trap with Stealth Rock to discourage switch-ins. It also forces unfavorable switch-ins via Roar, pulling Pokemon who are vulnerable to Stealth Rock to the battlefield. Since Roar can also rid the field of troublesome enemies, it puts pressure on the opponent to compensate for forced switch-ins and HP loss from Stealth Rock.
Metal Burst is also pivotal to Aggron's moveset because it can deal 1.5x the total damage that Aggron takes in a turn. If Aggron remains at low HP following Metal Burst, it can use Endeavor to reduce an opponent's HP to match its own. Normally, Aggron's Speed would prevent it from using Metal Burst and Endeavor before the opponent can launch two attacks. Aggron's item, however, covers Aggron's subpar Speed stat by granting its moves occasional priority.
Aggron's Ability and stats are mostly centered around its defenses to keep it on the Battlefield as long as possible. Sturdy, for example, prevents Aggron from being K.O.'d outright without occupying Aggron's item slot. Aggron also has an Impish Nature to maximize its strongest defensive stat, Defense, while lowering its weakest offensive stat, Special Attack. Aggron further facilitates its defenses through its EV distribution, placing 252 EVs into each of its best defensive stats. Since Special Defense is higher in value than Speed, Aggron's last four EVs remain in its Special Defense.
Aggron does not Dynamax for this set because the secondary effects of its moves would disappear until it returns to normal.
