Once introduced, I thought finally luvdisc will see some use, well it's evolved form at least... But no, alomomola is just another fish in the sea. In it's own right, alomomola has a great support potential. While it's attacking capabilities are majorly lacking, it's defensives ones are not and with a wide support movepool it often succeeds in what it was designed to do. To add to it's usefulness it's regenerator ability makes sure it survives longer and longer while messing with the opponent... I battled alomomola's before and they were a pain to take town especially when alomomola is your opponent's last pokemon and all you have is a pokemon that cannot hit it super effectively as they are the only way of getting rid of alomomola rapidly. (Crits also help).
Most alomomolas are used as wish passers, and toxic spreaders. And using alomomola in a different manner is just a waiste of it's potential. Alomomola can toxic an opponent's pokemon and stall them with wish, and protect until your opponent dies. Alomomola is fairly one dimentional as all the different ones you'll see will be in it's other options. Some run waterfall for a decent attack, but since it won't be doing a lot of damage anyways, and seeing alomomola's low speed, Aqua jet is arguably better for taking weakened foes that have less than 10% HP left as it bypasses it's speed and get's a clean KO. It works greatly with toxic/wish/protect too as you can finish an opponent when health has been drained with toxic before it has the time to attack the last turn if protect has been used the previous turn. Some also use soak for the fun of using it but most importantly to allow alomomola use toxic on steel and poison types... This strategy is fairly decent with steel types not named magneton, magnezone or ferrothorn with power whip. Magneton and notably magnezone can kill alomomola with their stab thunderbolts before it has the time to toxic them and ferrothorn while slower can set up hazards and leech seed on alomomola while she soaks or threaten to KO with power whip. While alomomola is a pokemon that is not majorly affected by status conditions (Burn and poison damage can be healed with wish/regenerator, toxic can be dealt by switching out, recovering some lost HP, and paralysis is not problematic due to alomomola's low speed anyways) leech seed have the ability of recovering opponent's pokemon by a lot of HP seeing alomomola's huge HP stat. Poison types are fairly manageable with soak... but... Soak's problem on alomomola is it's predictability. Your opponent will know that you soaked to toxic and switch out to another pokemon that can take the status effect like other steel or poison types or pokemon with immunity, poison heal or guts!
As a support pokemon, taunt shuts down alomomola completely 90% of the time. Forcing it to switch out while you set up... anything! Taking alomomola out is not that easy but a decently strong electric or grass type will usually 2HKO alomomola except if you were lucky enough to have a crit. Magnezone and magnetone are alomomola's biggest enemies each one in it's own tier as they wall alomomola completely. alomomola is hopeless in damaging those two... All it can do is switch out as even if it wants to wish might mean the end of it!
Substitute will be very troublesome for alomomola to break and you can set up safely behind it as she cannot do anything to you besides of wishing herself out! Toxic will eventually wear alomomola out especially if it was the last pokemon on your opponent's team. Starmie is a decent counter too as it can use thunderbolt to hit it fairly strong and switch out to cure any toxic it might have recieved. Celebi is also on the same boat as starmie... Coming to think about it, there are tons of pokemon that can take alomomola on... It is in lower tiers that the list becomes shorter. Sleep is also a way of shutting alomomola down if it's not running rain dance hydration sets. Butterfree can outspeed alomomola and put it to sleep with sleep powder. Amoonguss will usually force a switch and sporing the next switch in. Or, taking a weak hit from alomomola and sporing it instead or just giga drain it's HUGE HP. Prankster cottonee or whimsicott can taunt it, sub and leech seed on it. Klinklang is mentioned for it's access to electric type attack though magnetone is better in getting rid of alomomola... Ok... there are a lot of checks and counters to alomomola in every tier. If you can keep it from wishpassing you already countered it. You need to watch out from toxic as this pokemon can take even a super effective hit and toxic your pokemon. All this section can be simplified in just one word : TAUNT!
