Good Coverage Moves:
  • Flamethrower, Heat Wave- Ice, Steel (not a weakness but both STABs are resisted/immune)
  • Hex, Snarl, Dark Pulse- Psychic

Naganadel actually makes a very good Dynamax abuser in official tiers where it can be used, removing the penalty from Draco Meteor and allowing it to boost its Sp. Atk with Max Ooze (and potentially its Speed with an Air Slash-based Max Airstream if carrried). Unfortunately, when not Dynamaxed, it struggles to pull off sweeps as cleanly as it did last generation. The loss of Z-Crystals did take a toll on Naganadel, who relied on them to get off one free Draco Meteor and power through bulkier opponents like Heatran and Blissey. It also faces some competition from Eternatus, who trades some sweeping potential for way more defensive utility and longevity, while checking many of the same opponents.

This set is a simple Dynamax abuser, and there's not a whole lot to really discuss here. Draco Meteor becomes a very strong Max Wyrmwind, Sludge Wave becomes Max Ooze, boosting its Sp. Atk, Fire Blast (or Max Flare) are useful for powering through Steels that resist its STABs, and Air Slash becomes Max Airstream, allowing Naganadel to boost its Speed without relying on Beast Boost KOs. This also gives you the option of running a Modest nature, which means Beast Boost will grant Sp. Atk boosts instead of Speed, but this does undermine Naganadel's excellent Speed tier when unboosted.​
