It's Deoxys!

XaelOstigian

Competitive...kinda
Defense Form: Tank
Ability: Pressure
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold
EVs: (HP 252) (Defense 252) (Sp. Defense 4)

Moves:
Calm Mind
Recover
Psychic
Focus Blast

Set Details:
Boost special attack and special defense repeatedly with Calm Mind, heal off damage with Recover when needed, and then attack with Psychic and Focus Blast for coverage. Leftovers adds to survivability, and invest everything into HP and physical defense since Calm Mind already boost your special defense.

Cosmic Wall
Ability: Pressure
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold
EVs: (HP 252) (Defense 156) (Sp. Defense 100)

Moves:
Toxic (Transfer)
Cosmic Power
Recover
Psychic

Set Details:
If you can transfer over a Deoxys with Toxic you can also run this in defense form. Poison targets with Toxic, boost your defenses with Cosmic Power (Has to be learned via its normal form) to make it harder to take down, heal off damage with Recover, and Psychic is so it isn't completely passive or blocked by Taunt. Leftovers again for added recovery, and everything in stat distribution is max HP and a mix between both defenses.

The only problem with Focus Blast is the poor accuracy. Superpower has 100% accuracy and should be run over Focus Blast since Deoxys can easily recover from stat drops with Calm Mind.

I think I'm seeing the connection here! Deoxys is the Mythical Pokemon from outer space, Beheeyem looks like an alien, and Magnezone looks like a UFO!

Point taken, though Superpower drops attack and defense, while Calm Mind boosts special attack and special defense. Drain Punch is an option too for less power but no stat drops and a little HP draining.

Deoxys has been one of the hardest Pokémon to obtain for awhile. Outside of event distribution and hacking, Deoxys' only reliable appearance was in the Delta Episode, a full 3 generations after its introduction. And it has been two generations since. However, Deoxys' presence is always felt in games where it is available. Random Meteors lying around or in the hands of friendly scientists, always waiting for the rare or lucky trainer to have this legendary alien.

And it is a shame that Deoxys is so restricted because even nowadays, it is outclassed. Too many Pokémon outclass or eat Deoxys forms alive. Deoxys Attack is outmatched by Zacian-Crowned, who, in return for specializing in one offensive stat, has higher effective attack, only slightly slower speed and far, FAR superior defenses and typing. Deoxys Defense is outclassed by Solgaleo and Necrozma-DM who possess a superior typing on top of reliable recovery. And Deoxys Speed has been dethroned by Regieleki as the fastest Pokémon in the game. While yes, it is true that Regieleki cannot replicate Deoxys Speed's niches, the fact that Deoxys Speed actually has something that can outspeed it is a huge blow. And even then, priority is EVERYWHERE these days, so Deoxys Speed's peerless Speed is no longer the shield it once was.

Living Speed
Deoxys-Speed

-Stealth Rock
-Spikes
-U-Turn
-Magic Coat/Taunt
Ability: Pressure
Item: Focus Sash
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 HP / 4 DEF / 252 SPE

The one niche Regieleki can't take from Deoxys Speed is the suicide lead. Setup entry hazards and die, enabling Deoxys Speed's teammates to muscle past checks that could normally stop them, punish switches, etc. However, Suicide Lead is so weak these days thanks to the prevalence of Defog -it is much more important for setters to have resilience -able to setup multiple times throughout a game. Deoxys Speed doesn't have that. What it does have is peerless Speed that denies near any attempt at disruption while it sets up entry hazards. So if your opponent is relying on Taunt to stop entry hazards, they may be out of luck. U-Turn gives Deoxys Speed some staying power, allow it to get the heck out of dodge while scouting for switches. Magic Coat and Taunt round out the set. Magic Coat punishes other entry hazard setters, while Taunt stops Defog cold.

Oh I forgot to mention Deoxys Normal? Deoxys Normal is outclassed by Deoxys Attack. Literally if you are using Deoxys Normal, 99 times out of 100, Deoxys Attack would suit you better.

Superpower is a physical attack and not boosted by Calm Mind, and it does not lower the same stats that Calm Mind raises. It is not a substitute for Focus Blast on a Calm Mind set (not that I would particularly recommend using Calm Mind Deoxys-D in the first place). It's a much better choice on Deoxys-Attack sets as a way to bypass Blissey and Chople Berry Tyranitar.

Also, can I ask why Deoxys is even featuring in a POTW when it isn't obtainable in any Gen 8 game? And what is this "3 week special" mentioned in the OP? Is this even the right POTW, or is this a previous POTW that got accidentally reposted?

EDIT: Okay, looking over the past 2 POTW's I get the 3 week special part but the fact still remains that Deoxys isn't usable in any Gen 8 format, and it seems strange to do a POTW about a Pokemon who can only be used in either old formats or unofficial simulator-only formats. There are certainly other extraterrestrial Pokemon that could have been chosen instead who are usable in Sw/Sh (Clefable and Kyurem to name a couple off the top of my head, also Jirachi and Eternatus but I believe those have already been used).
