Black Murder Heavangelon

Ow! Ow! Harder! Ow!
Lead Haxorus

Haxorus@Lum Berry/Mental Herb
252 Atk/252 Speed/4 HP
Jolly Nature
Mold Breaker
-Dragon Dance
-Taunt
-Dual Chop
-Earthquake

This was a Haxorus I used a lot on PO with fairly high success, and it works great as a lead. Dragon Dance is necessary to use on the first turn so that Haxorus gets the much needed +1 Speed Boost. After that, you're free to do whatever you want, seriously. Dual Chop smashes through Substitute and Focus Sash, one of the reasons he's so hard to stop. Earthquake will hit everything but Flying Types, and Skarmory isn't much of a problem for Haxorus thanks to Taunt, stopping Skarm from blowing you away with Whirlwind, healing up HP with Roost, or laying down entry hazards. As a bonus, Mold Breaker means that Taunt will hit through Magic Bound (although what Magic Bounce user will stay in on you is the question).

The item is up to you. A Lum berry means you can get off a Dragon Dance uninterrupted by Thunder Wave or Will o Wisp. A Mental Herb means you aren't Whimsicott or Prankster bait (rather, you're the one luring them in), which you can then Taunt them so that they don't try to Encore you again. Either item depends on which situation you would hate the most.

Haxorus... The egyptian god (Horus) is now in desguise as a pokemon. While not being a legendary pokemon, haxorus has enough materials to be a deadly threat in competitive battling. At the first glance, It's 147 base attack stat stands out as one of the scariest attack stats in the game rivalling those of legendaries like zekrom, rayquaza,... On a second glance, you realize that haxorus is a PURE dragon type pokemon unruined by the additions of the flying or ground types that makes ice types attacks extremely deadly. Even Hydreigon have it's own typing problems... Fairy type anyone? That said, it doesn't mean that haxorus will take a full ice type attack with ease, they still hurt... It means that it won't die from an unstabbed HP ice.

Haxorus's other stats are frankly not that good. The major letdown is it's speed, missing few points from the 100 base speed pokemon. Adding to that Haxorus's low defenses stats means that if you don't act quickly, your haxorus is as good as dead. But, in it's amazing movepool, hides a key move that makes haxorus the threat that it is... Dragon dance. With one dragon dance up, haxorus will wreak havoc not only with it's increased attack reaching the outerspace, but also from a much needed boost to it's speed. Outspeeding every other unboosted dragon type in the game is sweet. Not even dragonite can have the guts to face this monster as it's OHKO with outrage even with multiscale unbroken! Hah!! you say... Shedinja can stop it... And I say in your dreams!! Shedinja will be shredded thanks to mold breaker, Levitators such as gengar will take a SE hit from EQ! Sadly, haxorus's other abilities have low usage in standard play but mold breaker is amazing giving haxorus a perfect coverage. Since dragon type attacks are only resisted by steel, all you need is EQ or brick break / superpower and you're set! Perfect coverage.

Despite all these good points, haxorus will rarely be capable of dragon dancing twice, which means it can still be outsped by scarfed faster pokemon like latios and KO it before doing damage. Also, as outrageous as it sounds, shedinja as well as any other ghost type pokemon with focus sash can still take a hit and burn haxorus down with will-o-wisp although not very reliable and haxorus might be holding a lum berry. Haxorus is nearly stopped by any major status condition notably burn which destroys haxorus completely while paralysis takes away haxorus's speed boosts as well as having a chance to immobilize it. Also haxorus doesn't like to be toxiced especially in front of a physical wall like skarmory or weezing.

Haxorus, if played right, can eliminate entire teams. Haxorus appreciate double screening as well as pokemon who can deal with it's weaknesses, so the ever useful steel types are recommended. Bronzong comes to mind as a double screener steel type. Also, haxorus can be your recipient pokemon after a baton passing chain buffing defenses and everything else but baton passing chains are easily checked with a phazer.
