Time for the next Pokémon of the Week!

It's Mudsdale!

Mestorn

Wandering Battler
Mudsdale, one of the few Pokémon that is actually sized and weighed correctly in comparison to real life animals (in this case, the Clydesdale horse it is based off of). And like its real life counterpart, Mudsdale is built for stamina and strength, able to take hits while striking hard back. However, its abysmal speed (seriously, it is as fast as Corsola) and common weaknesses hold it back.

Terracotta Horse
Mudsdale
Ability: Stamina
Item: Leftovers/Aguav Berry
-Stealth Rock
-Roar
-Earthquake
-Low Sweep/Toxic
EVs: 252 HP/124 DEF/128 SDEF
Nature: Careful (+SDEF, -SATK)

Standard shuffler set. Mudsdale's strong defenses can easily take a hit and setup Stealth Rock and is so slow that the negative priority of Roar means little to it, allowing it to easily rack up damage and counter predicted switches. STAB Earthquake hurts a lot even uninvested and prevents Mudsdale from being entirely passive. Final move is up to preference. Low Sweep reduces the opponents Speed making it easier for Mudsdale's partners to outspeed, while Toxic is known for its synergy with Roar and Stealth Rock. Nature, Item, EVs and Abilty are all for increasing bulk.

World Warhouse I
Mudsdale
Abilty: Stamina
Item: Assault Vest
-Earthquake
-Rock Slide
-Low Kick/Close Combat
-Heavy Slam/Body Slam
EVs: 252 HP/252 ATK/4 SDEF
Nature: Adamant (+ATK, -SATK) or Brave (+ATK, -SATK)

Assault Vest Mudsdale. Mudsdale has barely enough moves to form a workable Assault Vest set, but what it has does work. Earthquake + Rock Slide is a known potent combo from a type coverage point of view, covering many types for Super Effective/Neutral damage. Low Kick and Close Combat are for extra Fighting type coverage, with Low Kick being unreliable in power, while Close Combat has poor PP and sabotages Mudsdale's defenses. Heavy Slam offers a way to KO fairies and has near guaranteed power with Mudsdale being the 4th Heaviest pokémon, while Body Slam is on the weak side, but allows Mudsdale to spread around paralysis.

Mudsdale is a subpar Assault Vest user due to lack of recovery moves (Drain Punch, Giga Drain), few viable resists and common special weaknesses, meaning it is easy to wear down.
