• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

so adorable...
Old one was way too cluttered. It was getting absolutely ridiculous. LETS START AGAIN + make it not crap. ^_^

This thread is very self-explanatory: instead of posting a thread just for one or two movesets, which will be most likely infracted and definitely closed, ask for help here. However, do not post standard and/or Smogon sets, or anything too common -- it defeats the purpose of the thread. DO THESE STEPS before posting:

01. Check Smogon

You can find the analysis for each Pokémon by typing this: http://smogon.com/dp/pokemon/

e.g. http://smogon.com/dp/pokemon/ampharos/

Check your sets aren't there already. Also, check the Smogon Platinum Updates to make sure the sets aren't posted there before being uploaded to the site.

02. Search button

Just type in two quick keywords or something, e.g. 'agility rhyperior', to make sure no one has already posted your set. It greatly reduces work for both us AND you.

Thank you~

Knock yourselves out.

No teams, single Pokemon only.

No standards. Posting them is just backwards as they don't need to be rated.

No complete gimmicks. As fun as they may be, they aren't competitive.

This is a set for Arcanine I (and Rhys helped a LITTLE ;) ) came up with recently, I didn't really change the moveset, just the EV's.

Arcanine @ Choice Specs
Intimidate
Naive
252 Sp.A, 216 Spe, 40 Att
-Overheat
-ExtremeSpeed
-Dragon Pulse
-Hidden Power Ground

Alright, the EV's allow me to outspeed Max Jolly Lucario. The EV's also allow me to OHKO Max HP Gliscor with Overheat 100% of the time. Very cool, amirite?

Do you think it will also OHKO gliscor with Fire Blast? The spatk lowering is not good always...

I'm pretty sure it will, but the point of a Specs set is to hit and flee, recovering my Special Attack back. I also find Overheat more reliable

Scizor@Liechi Berry
Ability: Swarm
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk/ 176 Spe/ 80 HP

- X-Scissor
- Reversal
- Agility
- Substitute

Yup, well Spe hits 420 After agility, HP is 301 which allows for 4 subs with 1 HP remaining for that killer Reversal. Point is to get in on things like Gengar and Weaville, Azelf, TTar thats taken damage etc. Sub and Agility in similar fashion to Empoleon, only with a higher Attack stat, the coverage given is poor, but really can't be improved, Swarm + STAB + Liechi berry X-Scissors and 200 BP Reversal from a +1 Scizor still take very big chunks out of counters like Weezing and Dusknoir, with SR Zapdos can be dealt with, though Gyarados still poses a massive problem unfortunately

But Overheat won't let you sweep late-game.

SD Scizor with Reversal > Superpower would probably work better for you. Though all Reversal sets are gimmicks and should be viewed as such. Best part is that your set is Scizor weak
lolsparce.png
since it can easily revenge kill you. You're walled by Flying types too, which is very very bad considering the point of your set is to reduce your own health to 1 and then go for a sweep :\ SD LO Scizor will simply do this far better.

@ JRC: That doesn't stop SpecsMences/Latias from running Draco Meteor, does it? It's for a power hit and a -1 STAB Overheat still deals some solid damage.

That is the reason SpecsMence uses Dragon Pulse, doesn't they? I'm saying that he can use Fire Blast if he can still KO Gliscor, since he won't be able to sweep late-game with Overheat.

Ok so I've made this Salamence-countering (Read: DD/Phys. Mence when not in SS) Regirock and I need some help on it's moves.

Regirock @Leftovers (Clear Body)
Impish
252 HP/252 Atk/4 SpD

-Stone Edge
-Curse
-Rest
-Sleep Talk

Now I know the EV's look uninspired but 252 Atk puts regirock at 100.31% minimum damage w/ SE on regular offensive mences, so it's a must. And for the best overall defenses, 252 HP does the job. Although a case could be made for lefties hp and a little SpD, so if someone can provide me with these numbers (I don't know jump points/lefties yet =[) I'd be grateful.

About the moveset: the current set allows me to 1HKO Mence, 2HKO (I think, haven't checked this one yet) sweeper-oriented Latias, and pound Gyarados well. Curse/RestTalk allow me to serve more of a purpose than just taking down Mence (IE a little advantage over Cressy) and in a Sandstorm, no form of Salamence will be OHKO'ing me ever. W/O SS, no physical version will OHKO, but Specs Draco Meteor will 2HKO.

So here's the question: Would it be worthwhile to use Ice Punch over SE/Curse? it does less than a percentage point more to Mence than SE does, but it would do much more to Latias, allowing Regi to be a pinch Latias counter in SS (notice I said pinch) I haven't done calcs for that matchup yet but I think with an alternate spread it would work out.

Any advice/move opinions? Other suggestions are welcomed =]

EDIT: Forgot to mention but EQ won't OHKO from a DD'd Mence either

Arcanine will only have about a 20% chance (20.51% to be exact) of scoring a OHKO on Max HP Gliscor with Fire Blast, so no, its not a reliable way of OHKOing, though with Overheat I OHKO 100% of the time.

That's why I said if Fire Blast can KO Gliscor too.

well i think that for your regirock you should consider ice punch because you do want to take some evs off atk. 204hp gives you max leftovers recovery. if you want to hit a jump point in def you could go.

204hp, 96def,208atk
ice punch
curse
sleep talk
rest

actually though i would put less in atk because no atk evs will OHKO 80hp ddmence with ice punch but its up to you

Maybe I did my calculations wrong but when I did it Ice Punch didn't 1HKO till 252ish either. And then if I only have Ice Punch I might as well get rid of Curse because I don't have a good STAB for a curse sweep. Ugh I'm no good at this stuff lol.

Thanks for the Jump Points though, but wouldn't I be better off with those Def EV's in SpD? Because a STAB 252 Atk LO DD'd mence still won't 1HKO with 204 HP. I think. I'd check but Metalkid has been crashing my comp today and I don't want to risk it.

Thanks Groov.

That set fails hard anyways, he didn't improve it any o.o
Oh, fun fact, Ice Punch is the same base power as SE.

Ice Punch on Salamence: 75 x 4 = 300 base power
Stone Edge on Salamence: 100 x 1.5 x 2 = 300 base power

He needs attacking options with only Curse or another attack option and cutting Curse. He will not sweep with one move without tons of support.

oh woops i did my calcs wrong i can do them again if you want

EDIT: wow you actualy do need 252 atk to OHKO 80hp mence in ss. you could give him

204 hp,252atk, 52sp.def

these are to OHKO mence with se and for max lefties recovery. unfortunately with these you cannot hit a jump point. but it doesn't matter.

(im sure rhys will find a better set for you)

Manaphy (Lonely)@ Salac Berry
4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
-Waterfall
-U-turn
-Rest
-Grass Knot/Icebeam/Return

Not the best natured Manaphy but it has the element of surprise at least, hits T-tar harder than any special based based Manaphy. Grass Knot would be for coverage against Kyogre, Icebeam to hit Dragons, and Return to get at least get neutral on everything that might resist water/bug.

Which of these would make a better Land Shaymin for OU battles? (Real battles, not Shoddy)

Shaymin@Choice Scarf
Modest
Seed Flare
Air Slash
Earth Power
Psychic

Shaymin@Choice Specs
Timid
Seed Flare
Air Slash
Earth Power
Phychic

And what would be the best EV spread for them?
