• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

I made up a CB Ttar...

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Adamant - Sand Stream
EVs: 176 HP/252 Atk/80 Spd
Stone Edge
Earthquake
Fire Punch
Dragon Claw

It is a basic CB lead. Fire Punch is for Skarmory/Zong. Stone Edge is for Yanmega, Ninjask, Zapdos and others, while scoring STAB. EQ is for any Steel-types that resist Fire Punch, and for any others weak to it, such as Electivire and Magnezone. In Ubers, it is used for mainly Dialga. Dragon Claw is for those Dragons that resist all the other attacks (Flygon, Garchomp, etc.) Any flaws and suggestions? Please post.

The Speed EVs that Smogon suggests here are useless, as Skarmory runs EVs in Speed now, and this one is built to outspeed No Speed ones.

Use 92 EVs instead so you can outspeed them.

Also lose Dragon Claw, you're diminishing it's usefulness, which is it's ability to switch into special attackers and use Pursuit on them for the KO, only to hit two pokes you shouldn't be up against anyway. Use Pursuit or Crunch as Tyranitar's ability to switch in and kill of nearly all psychic and ghost types shouldnt be overshadowed by something as situational as hitting Garchomp and Flygon, let someone else on your team handle them.

Flying types are fun to have,

Skarmory@Leftovers
Impish
Trait: Keen Eye
252 HP / 24 Atk / 232 Def

~ Roost
~ Stealth Rock
~ Toxic
~ Whirlwind / Drill Peck

A very annoying Skarmory, Stealth Rock + Toxic can really mess up a team, Roost is to keep your health high and get rid of your flying type. Whirlwind if you want to get the opponent's whole team, or Drill Peck for an attack. If you are not using Drill Peck dump the Atk Ev's to Speed.

The only reason why Stealth rock isn't used on Skarmory is because alot of other pokemon can use it. However, very few pokemon learn Spikes and can use it effectively. It's just a little twist on the standard smogon set only worse. You're better off using Brave bird to avoid problems with taunters. Also with BB, there is no need to invest EVs in Atk, so dump them into speed to outspeed standard CB Tyranitar. You shouldn't sacrifice a move slot for Toxic, as another pokemon on your team can setup Toxic spikes.

I love this smeargle probably the best. Magic coat bounces back leech seed, status problems,Spore, taunt and A few other indirect attacks. Mirror coat to Destroy special sweepers and counter for the physicals. And best off as A lead because you can transform into A batonpasser or another threatening pokemon!

With Metal Burst he would have to change the spread, seeing as there is no negative priority on that move and even then you would need close to a zero IV...

First of all Magic Coat doesn't reflect Taunt unfortunately so leads such as Aerodactyl and Azelf will Taunt and SR you with ease. The problem isn't just that but but a good deal of attacking leads that you will face have a Focus Sash or even worse, Fake Out.

It can work, but don't expect it be reliable.

HP 252 / Atk 252

Missing one more move. Probably a physical attach with good coverage over pokemon with lesser speed than empoleon. As a switch trigger i can release a fast stealth rock or sweep.

Reno said it does work and shes A teambuilding mod?

I used to use Magic Coat on my Porygon2 and it did indeed bounce back Taunt attempts, so I can also attest to that statement, assuming Plat didn't alter it that is.

And yes you are absolutely ruined by any lead with Fake Out, or Trick, and it takes a gigantic amount of prediction to even use halfway decently.

Don't use Stealth Rock on a sweeper set, it only limits your type coverage, let someone else set it up for you.

Adamant (+Atk -SpA)
252 HP / 252 Atk/ 4 Spe

Aqua Jet for priority, Drill Peck for coverage, and Earthquake for power and hits Magnezone switch ins that cannot OHKO you.

My Lopunny couldn't stay away from Blaziken so it has Fire punch and Sky uppercut for Coverage, Return for STAB, Switcheroo for burning your opponents.

-Speed and a 0IV makes Smeargle really damn slow for a lead. Don't think I didn't look to see how slow before suggesting it. Magic Coat has positive priority, and the common BP leads (Zapdos and Ninjask) outspeed you even with max speed, making transform just for them silly. These days most BP teams lead with Dual Screens anyway.

Just a general question. I have no idea where else to put this, but is Venusaur of any use in a Sunny Day Team? Due to the fact I like certain teams and Venusaur I wondered if he could be of any use.

This is where you should have posted. Anyway, Venusaur can be used in a sunny day team to setup Sunny day since it has a lot of bulkiness (Base stats: 80 HP / 83 Def / 100 SpDef). Use him with Sunny day, Solar beam, HP fire, and Synthesis.

If you're building a sunny day team and you're not insisting on Venusaur, there are much better pokemon to use:

Hariyama w/Heat Rock
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 64 HP / 192 Atk / 252 Def
Impish nature
- Sunny Day
- Fake Out
- Bullet Punch
- Close Combat

This is anti-Lead Hariyama, he stops Azelf from getting rocks down. Tyranitar leads now are afraid of Fake out + Close Combat, Bullet Punch to hit Ghosts and Azelf along with Aerodactyl. And he easily beats Heatran leads.

And you can use this as well, but don't lead with it.

Cresselia w/Heat Rock
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpAtk
Bold nature
- Sunny Day
- Reflect
- Moonlight
- Charge Beam

Moonlight restores 66% and Charge Beam is pretty much a filler with no real purpose than to hit for whatever damage it can.

Here's a list of pokemon that can make use of Sunny day with their ability:

Chlorophyll:

Bellossom
Exeggutor
Jumpluff
Shiftry
Sunflora
Tangrowth
Tropius
Victreebel
Vileplume

Solar Power:

Sunflora
Tropius
Leaf Guard:

Leaf Guard:

Jumpluff
Leafeon
Tangrowth

new rule: if you are using cresselia you must also use weavile electivire an anti lead that loses to metagross and 2 pokemon from the uu tier

Maybe Hariyama looses to Metagross (Close combat is a 3HKO on standard 252 HP / 12 Def Metagross), it does however counter a lot of very common leads like: Azelf (Fake out+Bullet punch), Aerodactyl ( Fake out+Bullet punch), Heatran (Close combat and Thick fat helps to take fire attacks), Tyranitar (Bullet punch and Close combat), Gengar (Bullet punch), Infernape (Fake out then Close combat and Fire blast won't hurt thanks to Thick fat), Ninjask (Fake out+Bullet punch).

Togekiss w/ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 128 def / 128 SP Def
Bold/Calm/Timid?
- Wish
- Protect
- Counter
- Air Slash??

Not sure on this one. I think it sounds good on paper, and it's unexpected. Come in on fairly weak sp. attacker, wish on switch, protect to get wish and ensure they're using physical moves, then counter. Not sure for the last move, Air slash doesn't give that much coverage - SE on fighting who will probably use physical moves anyway, and grass isn't that common. Although it is STAB with good flinch. Not sure Togekiss has the speed though. Also need help on EVs and nature, I'm not good with those.

Flamethrower would give more coverage than Air Slash since many pokemon use Ice type Moves + a 20% chance of burn. This is a very good set but it is risky and unreliable.
