Just a suggestion. Anyway, looks good enough. Does 8 Speed ev's let it out speed anything?

Any other Scizor with no Speed investment, but that would fail if this isn't for PO where you can easily get 31 Speed IV.

How does this combo look to you guys?

Lead Pokemon

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Levitate
Timid
4 HP 252 SpA 252 Spe
-Stealth Rock
-Taunt
-U-Turn
-Fire Blast

A reincarnation of the extremely popular lead set from 4th gen that sets up Stealth Rock for my team.

Dugtrio @ Life Orb
Arena Trap
Adamant
252 Atk 4 SpD 252 Spe
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Sucker Punch
-Memento

This is where it gets interesting. The new team preview allows you to scout for counters of the next Pokemon, most notably Heatran, which Dugtrio is the main counter to thanks to Arena Trap and a 4x super effective STAB Earthquake. Once the counter is taken out by Dugtrio, he uses Memento, a move that allows the next pokemon to set up without fear of being killed.

Scizor @ Life Orb
Technician
Adamant
248 HP 252 Atk 8 SpD
-Swords Dance
-Bug Bite
-Bullet Punch
-Brick Break

Finally, the sweeper that rounds off this combo by tearing through the entire team without fear of being revenge killed. Use Swords Dance to raise your attack to mind boggling levels, and then proceed to pound the opponent into dust. Good Game.

You literally copy/pasted this from Smogon, right down to the use of the word "reincarnation." If you post a standard set with absolutely no derivation, you can just read the article you took it from if you want to know how well it will work. Same thing goes for your completely standard Scizor.

Dugtrio @ Life Orb
Arena Trap

A very common item for Heatran, my own included, is the Air Balloon. You would have to waste at least one turn popping that before you can take down a Heatran, and in that time, even non-Specs Heatran can 1HKO you with Fire Blast or HP-Ice. Fire Blast does 136.49% - 160.66% and HP-Ice does 106.16% - 125.12%.

That bit aside however, this once again only deviates from the standard set via Memento, which is a horrible move. No one would stay in after taking Memento; it doesn't drop stats, it just forces switches. That's something the Pokemon you're sending in next should be able to do for itself anyway though. You'll get a lot more use out of something like Substitute or Hone Claws than you would Memento.

@ Bugz: Generally the main reason you use Dugtrio is the win the weather war. Because everything else it can kill usually carries Air Balloon or may carry it, thus making duggy unreliable in the regard.

Memento can work, If you have something that is is usually ponced upon early. I'd definitely have a hard thing about what you pair it with. Make sure it is something that both has a hard time setting up and it usually only countered by stuff that duggy can take care of or it sets up on stuff that switches in to duggy.

Umm thinking off the top of my head a good example of this might be the new Faraligatr set that is in vogue atm. It relies heavily on having rain up, Duggy takes care of ninetales and tyranitar most of the time. In addition, Dugtrio draws in Latios like the plague. Duggy can outspeed, let Gatr in for free. It gets a free swords dance + gets into torrent range if the opponent is stupid and attacks. And you may have just gotten a sweep. (Coz gatr hits latios REALLY hard with a +2 Rain Torrent Aqua Jet. It's surprising.)

tl;dr You duggy can work, but use it because it will help, not because it is novelty.

GET IN THE BAG
name: Swords Dance
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Aqua Jet
move 3: Superpower
move 4: Ice Punch / Crunch
item: Life Orb
nature: Adamant
ability: Torrent
evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def

Ripped straight from the analysis.

I've used it myself to come great success. I prefer it with Crunch.

So this is supposed to be used in rain and to try and abuse torrent if possible? Looks pretty cool.

I just read the analysis then and it does seem to hit pretty hard.

It just requires the right support. Unlike the other pokes that are in the same sort of power area, gatr actually has the rain boosted priority to pull off some clutch revenges when it isn't able to sweep.

Definitely not anywhere near top tier threat but it's a viable poke.

lol, Memento is an amazing move on Dugtrio. Its free Dual Screens for your next Pokemon, who will get a safe switch in on whatever you want due to Arena Trap.

LO Memento Duggy is one of the better Duggy sets around.

thanks for the help brandyjay, could I use a DD Feraligatr or would I have more success with Swords Dance?

TCG Gym Leader, Ret.
fwiw it's for VGC, but I want to make sure I'm not thinking crazy again

as it stands now:

Rhyperior [M] Adamant @ Passho Berry
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 220 HP/128 AT/28 DF/132 SD

-Rock Slide
-Earthquake
-Protect
-Megahorn

*All-around At-Wall. Had Ice Punch in 3, but losing it didn't affect his coverage overmuch and Protect is better on a lead (especially in Doubles). Megahorn for TTar, et al. I like Brick Break's acc better, but I need the horn for coverage ( ::cough:: psychics ::cough:: ).

Lightningrod helps cover the team, Solid Rock helps Rhy survive. Either would have been fine. Passho gains even more defensive power when paired with SR.

SE against 13 types (424 individual pokemon), Normal effect against the rest. Hits Shedinja.

the option: IDENTICAL except for: 148 HP / 12 AT / 178 DF / 172 SD

the reasoning:

27/31/31/x/31/29
current spread gives 216/193/154/x/92/59 @ 50
Option gives 207/178/172/x/97/59 @ 50

Since Rain is so bloody prevalent AND he has double to water and grass (which are mostly Specialists) I thought his SD could use a boost.

PotW (albeit 4th gen) states that the bare minimum for Rhy should be 202 / 175+ / 170+ / x / ? / ? @ 50. Granted that's a Sub set, but my "option" meets that and still gives the SD boost.

Thoughts?

hey people, it's been a long time since i posted in here, but i'm back and i want sugestions for two different tiers: 5th 1x1 and 5th 2x2. why? because i play on a server where those two tiers are used A LOT, but unfortunately, i only have a nice team for 5th 1x1, since i've never played 5th 2x2 on my entire life.

5th 1x1 TEAM:

Hitmonlee (M) @ Normal Gem
Trait: Unburden
EV's: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

- Fake Out
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Bullet Punch

what i want to do with this set is to abuse the Normal Gem + Fake Out to make Hitmonlee's trait an awesome threat. After using Fake Out, which will always atack first, Hitmonlee reaches incredible Speed and Atack stats. What's the problem with the set and why the hell aren't you running Sucker Punch? that's simple, Sucker Punch + Fake Out + Unburden is an illegal set, and Fake Out is essencially needed on this set. it's for sure a nice set, and i tried Pursuit over Sucker Punch, but that didn't work out AT ALL. so i put Bullet Punch, which is priority and kills some pokés with ease. i'm still considering Earthquake, though, to hit Jirachi harder. i'm accepting sugestions to fiz my Sucker Punch problem, anything helps!

About the 5th 2x2, and don't have ANYTHING, if you people know any teams, i would take it :)

I'm not good with speed stuff, but after unburden activates do you need full speed to outrun anything. If not you could put some of that speed in HP.

Yea, you don't need all that speed. And when you do go around outspeeding most of the metagame, why do you have bullet punch? I would use either blaze kick or earthquake, since bullet punch really wouldn't be useful at all. EQ will help you get past Jirachi.

On the other hand, Blaze Kick does also hit Ferrothorn and Forretress and Scizor, all of which are very common, while still doing a lot of damage to Jirachi. Just, not as much as EQ, but I would recommend Blaze Kick

It's one of those things, where if you team has trouble with it you can chose that move. Earthquake gets quakedge coverage, but depends on what your team has trouble with.

Dragin990

Warrior's Will
I would use Jolly since Raticate has Guts, but it also has Sucker Punch so Adamant can still be used for extra power

Hmm...I actually caught an adamant and a jolly rattata in SS, I'm raising it nw, and it's abt to evolve into raticate.

This is one of the possible sets I have for her:

Raticate@???
Guts
adamant
252atk 160spd 96hp
moves:
- sucker punch
- hyper fang
- u-turn
- taunt
