I know this idea has been shot down by a lot of people, but I would like to see the contests as they are in the animé. Have a basic appeal round, and then battle your way, using techniques and combinations, to the top.

I liked R/S/E's style but ^^Lemono's idea sounds much more intresting^^.
I just wanna see the G/S/C contests but others would be nice to see too.

I hope they don't return. The contest really weren't that great for me. I never got into them and, for me, they just made Pokemon seeem more childish than it alread is. So no, contest were for R/S/E, D/P should have something different and unique.

Thanks. I just thought that it would be nice to have it different, rather than having the stupid way that R/S/E did. I hated that .. -_-

Back I guess??
I like contests more than the league thing.
I hope they don´t change the music there! When I´m bored contests are the best local to go!

I don´t like anime style too much, I think they could add diferent types in contests, like: electric beauty contest, just electric pokémon participate. and the when we beat them all, (all 85 contests O_O) you enter in the mixed contests, every pokémon type can enter there.

I would like some sort of an extension to the contests. They were enjoyable and all, but they were just too damn ephemeral. As soon as you beat all five categories, there was nothing to do afterwards. :<

Ideally, I would like to see your Pokemon be able to go onto nationals, where you get to compete with winners from across the known nation in a tournament-style setting. No, I am certainly not advocating travel to older regions within the game itself, merely the integration of the contest winners from these places in a giant contest hall somewhere in the new region. Of course, your character would represent the new region, and when you win the thing, you would get some awesome prize like a Master Ball or a Lucky Egg (don't worry, it would be a doozy so by no means is this a giveaway). However, once your Pokemon wins in the nationals, you cannot enter that Pokemon or any evolutionarily-related Pokemon into nationals and still be eligible for this prize.

In addition, I would like to see this be integrated with the online/WiFi capabilities about which Nintendo seems to be raving. With this, people from all over the world would be able to enter their Pokemon that have championed the nationals category in their games, and the prizes would be something phenomenal like a ticket to get a rare Pokemon or something. Through the contests and the WiFi capabilities of the DS, geographic locations of players would no longer be as great a factor in obtaining tickets for those ultra-rare Pokemon.

I understand entering the same pokemon, but why not the entire evolutionary line?

anyway, I'm not sure weither contests would be expanded upon in the next games or will remain the same as they were in Ruby and Sapphire... the only evidence right now that they'll make a return is that Feebas needs to be maxed out in beauty to evolve into Milotic, and that could very easily be fixed with some newfangled DP attachable item.

the problem with having contests being like the anime's contests is that it'll require having strong evolved pokemon to win.

The one thing that sets contests apart from battling is that ANY pokemon can participate in them, regardless of what level they're at or how evolved they are... all that really matters is the nature, how many good pokeblock they've been given and moveset.

a pokemon's integry and reputation is mostly determined by stats and moveset in the fan community. pokemon contests is a good way for pokemon normally considered weak to have a chance to shine... having battles as a part of contests pretty much take this oppourtunity away completely, and it'll be exactly like pokemon battling.

I mainly included this clause so that you couldn't just evolve your Phanpy to get another Master Ball from the Cute Contest. I mean, what's the point of restricting just that Pokemon when you can easily obtain another Master Ball or two just by pumping the thing with Rare Candies?

And as an extension to my idea, the WiFi would also allow you to simply hold contests at any eligible rank for your Pokemon. Prizes would still be given out for playing in these contests. In addition, with this linkage to several different systems, I could easily see a tournament in the works just directly with other DS units.

when I meant "same pokemon" I ment the same individual pokemon, not that particular species.

say you've won the nationals with a pokemon, say a Roselia, would it be possible to win the nationals again with a different Roselia...

I guess it would be much easier to change the prizes to something else rather then such potent items like Masterballs and Lucky Eggs... like maybe rare TMs like Earthquake or other TMs you normally only get one of.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Once I got bored with the main game in Ruby, I liked to take some of my baby Pokemon and turn them into contest powerhouses. If they made contests more like the anime, then I doubt I'd be able to win them with my Lv5 Pichu anymore.

Also, on Milotic, they could always just be lazy and have no fathomable way of evolving it in D/P without evolving it in R/S/E first, kinda like Espeon/Umbreon in FR/LG.
