COTD May 6, 2006 [YGO] Divine Dragon Excelion

When you think of Dragons, you think of strong attack, no effect attackers. This card is just that sometimes and in other times, just the opposite.

With cards that send others to the GY like Generation Shift and Next to be Lost and good searchers like Masked Dragon and Shining Angel, Excelion was supposed to see play the format didn't call for it. And it will just suffer in play when Macrocosmos and Grand Cross come out.

It's effects are pretty cool, since you can get it up to an attack power than can beat almost all the monsters seen in todays format, or have a BLS type effect, or have a deadly burn effect similar to Flame Wingmans.

I like this card, but it's not very good. Next to be Lost works well with this, but nothing more. Generation Gift comes a close second.

A deck based around Excelion should've seen major play last format. But with only three copies of it in a deck, and too much focus put onto getting off on it's effect, it will forever remain lackluster.

Anyway, nice review. Is there a way I can review cards here?

Mabye if there was a card similar to Proto-Cyber Dragon for Divine Dragon Excelion, and a fusion for it, then it'd be uber popular.

I don't know about this card. I'm leaning on not liking it. The card design is cool, and its effect is good, but it requires too much to become good.
