Does it affect the pokemon before I am notified at the pokemon center. Or does it pospone the effects until you are aware of it? Like one of those nightmares where you're at school, and nobody notices you don't have any pants on till you do.

The reason I ask is I am dashing back and forth between the pokemon center and the route with the bidoofs, trying to keep a firm grip on how many EV points I have spent.

I'm pretty sure Pokerus takes effect the moment you become afflicted by it.

Once a Pokemon becomes infected with Pokerus (you see the PKRS symbol next to their names), they will immediately start gaining 2x the normal amount of EVs in every battle they participate in. Your first notification in the Pokemon Center won't delay anything.

Yeah, just check the summary.

And once you get the smiley face symbol instead of PKRS, it doesn't mean you lost it. Your Pokemon still gets 2x the EV points, but they just can't spread the virus anymore.
