Could use some suggestions in-game...

I'm playing Leaf Green, and I've finally got to the point where I should really start deciding on the last parts of my team. Basically, I had 5 members, but I went ahead and put my Pidgeot into the PC after it reached level 42. I'm just about ready to fight Sabrina. I haven't gone ahead to Cinnabar Island, either.

Here's my team so far:

Venusaur lvl 43 (Lax)
Rhydon lvl 43 (Adamant)
Ninetales lvl 43 (Modest)
Lapras lvl 43 (Bashful)

I'm not really looking for an electric type at this point, either, since Lapras is going to have Thunderbolt soon. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hm... Well, I think I'll have to pass there. If I was gonna use a Fighting type, I'd be using Primeape I think.

Well I know you're not looking for an Electric type but Zapdos is pretty good. You can use it for Fly as well.

I might consider Zapdos... I haven't used a legendary in a game seriously since GSC anyway. Any others?

Any other suggestions at all? I've gone past Sabrina now, I'm at Cinnabar Island at this point. Should I just go through that Island, go through the Sevii Island, and use the VS Seeker on Island 1 with those karate NPCs to get the pokemon up their levels?

How about Gengar? It has great Sp. Atk. and some good movesets.

Heh, funny story. When I was going through my Firered, I had my team all set except a sixth. I needed an interesting Pokemon, so I decided, "Hey, why not try Hitmonchan?"

I got it to 42, which admittedly was my lowest going against the Kanto Elite Four, but my highest was only 45, so yeah.

It was so useless, it wasn't funny >_> So I was practically fighting the Elite Four with 5 Pokemon, 5 and underlevelled

I still did it XD Hitmonchan was quickly replaced by the first shiny Pokemon I found

I really hate how rare Koffing is in Leaf Green... It seems to be even harder to find than a Nidoran M in this game.

I've tried both Hitmons' before... never got much use out of 'em. I prefer Primeape anyway. I'd love to see either an alternate version from Mankey or a third evolution in the new games just to make it more usable (though it really isn't all that bad. Just average overall).

Haunter sounds good to me. Poliwrath I like, but the fact that it's another water type isn't exactly what I'm going for right now.

Anyway, my team is now level 47+, except for my new Koffing which I just managed to get. It's at level 35, and after I beat Viridian Gym I'll be leveling it up higher. I've already got an Exp. Share on it so it'll benefit from the gym itself.

So, the new team looks like this:

Lapras lvl 48 (Bashful)
Rhydon lvl 48 (Adamant)
Venusaur lvl 47 (Lax)
Ninetales lvl 47 (Modest)
Koffing lvl 35 (Sassy)


Kinda looks like a ground weakness in the group, but with two strong against it and Koffing unable to be hit by ground, I think that's not much of a problem. Ice is a small problem, but Ninetales and Lapras resist it, plus Lapras has Thunderbolt now. Electric isn't a problem thanks to Rhydon and Venusaur... Let's see, I don't have much that goes against fighting despite Venusaur and Koffing's resistance to it. What else...

I guess I could use some sort of fast pokemon, but I'm not entirely sure what one to go with at this point. Got any ideas? I'm almost thinking of going with a Kadabra or a flying type- find myself an Adamant Doduo and level it up, I guess. Or I could stick with my Pidgeot. Decisions, decisions...

If you want a fast pokemon use pidgeot. Just stick with it.

pigeot isnt thaaaaaat fast, ninetails is faster . . .
if your sticking with just an ingame team laparas will wipe most of the E4 strong against ice and dragon as a boltbeamer.
i think haunter could be a good choice as Urban Legend of Bad Luck said, you could mold it easily to fit the last slot in your team.

I'll go with Haunter. That one has a good enough movepool and I'll have to raise a Gastly with a good nature. And it's almost as fast as Ninetales, and faster than a Pidgeot, too. That said, what're the better natures to find for a Haunter?

it would depend how you wanted to use your haunter, its got good special attack, so you may want to use it as a special sweeper, so it may need a speed boost to get in first.
timid may be good as it lowers attck and as a special sweeper you shouldnt need attack =]
