2025 is the year of Chikorita, Tepig and Totodile!
Houndour is now encountered between New Bark Town and Cherrygrove City instead of being stuck in the postgame. The only available Fire types in Gen 2 are the Vulpix line, Growlithe line, Magmar line minus Magmortar, Flareon, Cyndaquil line, Houndour line, Entei and Ho-Oh if you’re playing Gold.

Yeah G1 did Houndour dirty by locking it in Kanto. But i would include Magmortar Magmarizer really late. The Fire Stone would be more easily available.
Maybe give Houndour Flame Charge at level 19
Slugma should evolve at 20 instead of 38 since it's defenses are just bad usually.
I would probably give Slugma into HP into 100 and the 40 stats into 80 and Speed 80 instead of 20 speed.
Flareon also gets get Flame Charge on level 23

This is for Johto both Gen 2 and 4

New regional variant- sort of.
Ultra Space Raichu
Electric/Bug
Ability- Electric Stinger
Hidden ability- Beast Boost
Evolves via thunder stone while in Ultra space with at least one Pokemon in the party that has beast boost as an ability.

HP-70
Attack-140
Special Attack-40
Defence- 100
Special Defence- 35
Speed-100
Total- 485

- Spark
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch
- Fire Punch
- Lunge
- Leech Life
- Metasoma Melee
- Shocking Strike
- Infestation
- Bulk Up
- Insect Metamorphosis

New moves
Metasoma Melee- (Bug) Physical- Makes contact- BP90- 5PP- this attack has an increased critical hit ratio
Shocking Strike- (Electric) Physical- Makes Contact- BP-80- 5PP- This attack will always be a critical hit if the target is paralysed
Insect Metamorphosis- (Bug) Status- does not make contact- 20PP- This attack changes the target's type to Bug.

New ability - Electric Stinger- all contact moves have a 20% chance of inflicting Paralysis

Dex Entry 1- This variant of Raichu was first seen after the Ultra Recon squad brought several Pikachu to the Ultra Megalopolis from Alola. It is very aggressive
Dex Entry 2- Since the discovery of this variant recent research has identified that this variant dislikes the Alolan Variant. Some believe it is due to their opposite personalities whereas some believe it is due to jealousy

Appearance- Looks like Raichu with some scorpion like features and some alien like traits.

Note- this variant would be from a game set in Ultra space. Not a true ultra beast but is similar enough it can get beast boost.

Cataclysm Form Proposal

A concept I had for a take on regional forms. Basically I'm curious as to what the world of Ultra Megalopolis is outside of the city; with Necrozma having absorbed the light in that version of Alola I imagine it's post-apocalyptic. So while there are regular Pokemon from the main timeline like Furfrou there might be some alternate versions of regular world Pokemon, along with other species (Poipole, though maybe it was originally from another reality). So I could see this as an excuse to give regional variants to legendaries who it doesn't make too much sense lore-wise to have them in the main universe, by their forms being a consequence of Necrozma's actions. Here is an example

Kyogre (Cataclysm Form)
Type-Water/Ice
Ability-Snow Warning
Pokedex entry
  • "As the light died, the seas grew cold. This reality's Kyogre embodies water in both its liquid and solid form"
  • "Even in these dark times, it and Groudon are arch-rivals. It spreads snowstorms to expand the world's ice sheets"

Groudon (Cataclysm Form)
Type-Ground/Rock
Ability-Sand Stream
Pokedex entry
  • "This universe's Groudon no longer summons sunlight, but terrible sandstorms. What natural vegetation remains vanishes in its presence"
  • "Though this world has fallen to darkness, this legendary remains the greatest foe of Kyogre. Deserts are created by its footsteps"

Rayquaza (Cataclysm Form)
Type-Dark/Flying
Ability-Draconic Will (Dragon type moves get a 50% attack bonus)
Pokedex entry
  • "The Rayquaza of this timeline was driven mad from grief at its failure to stop the light being stolen. It lives in a storm up in the ozone layer"
  • "This corrupted legendary has the temperament of a raging storm. Black crystals spread across its body after a climatic battle"

I am also curious as to what the other two Ultra Megalopolis starters would look like. I guess in keeping with other dimensions with two Ultra Beasts they would be invasive species-themed, have some similarities to the Poipole line (Pheromosa and Buzzwole are bugs and the same type, Kartana and Celesteela are plants and share the Steel type), so maybe they'd all gain the Dragon type after learning Dragon Pulse. Since Naganadel is a wasp maybe a less obvious comparison is to make the other two parasitoids or brood parasites, and follow a secondary color pattern

Ghost-Type Master
It feels a bit too derivative of Poison. That said I'm not sure what the name and identity of a good future type would be. However I do imagine the next type will be used to nerf OP types and buff diminished types. So something that Ice resists, Bug and Psychic are generally good at, Fairy and Steel are generally poor against. No idea what would have a logical reason for that while also not being too niche a concept to implement or subtract too much from an existing type

I've been meaning to touch on this.

I feel the Virus type is in fact the antithesis to Poison, as it is capable of doing what Poison can't.

While Poison is weak to Psychic moves, Virus resists them. While Steel is immune to Poison, it is weak to Virus. Conversely, it does not render Poison obsolete, as Virus-typed Pokémon are weak to Fairy and Grass.

In fact, the introduction of the Virus Type in this form would greatly boost to usage of both Normal and Grass-type attacks, as well as give Fairy another use besides being a foil for Dragons and overly used Dark-types in competitive.

Perhaps the best thing about the Virus Type is that it's also the antithesis to Ghost. While the former is both-ways immune to Normal, Virus is both weak to and strong against Normal, presenting an entirely new meta.

OFFENSE (super effective against)
2.0xNormal, Fighting, Flying, Psychic, Steel
0.5xElectric, Ground, Poison, Fairy
0.0xFire, Ghost

DEFENSE (weak to)
2.0xNormal, Fire, Grass, Fairy
0.5xFlying, Steel
0.0xFighting

New Abilities!

1. Sublimation (JP: 昇華点 "Sublimation Point")
The Pokémon receives Special damage from Physical attacks.

A Pokémon with the ability Sublimation cannot have its Defense targeted by Physical moves. Damage will instead by calculated with the Pokémon's Special Defense. If a Pokémon with this ability is Confused, a hit will deal Special damage. Special moves that deal Physical damage, such as Psystrike, will still target the Pokémon's Defense. Moves that change category, such as Shell Side Arm, will always target Special Defense. Steel and Ice-type moves in the Physical category will always fail.

The ability Sublimation negates the effects of Sandstorm and Snow. A Pokémon with this ability cannot be Frozen or damaged by Stealth Rock. The following Status moves cannot target a Pokémon with the ability Sublimation:

- Sand Attack
- Poison Powder
- Sleep Powder
- Spore
- Stun Spore
- Cotton Spore
- Tickle
- Electrify
- Powder
- Toxic Thread

Pokémon that can have the ability Sublimation:

2. Deposition (JP: 蒸着点 "Deposition Point")
The Pokémon receives Physical damage from Special attacks.

A Pokémon with the ability Deposition cannot have its Special Defense targeted by Special moves. Damage will instead by calculated with the Pokémon's Defense. Moves that change category, such as Shell Side Arm, will always target Defense. Flying and Water-type moves in the Special category will always fail.

The ability Sublimation negates the effects of Rain Dance, Sunny Day and Tailwind. A Pokémon with this ability cannot be Burned.
The following Status moves cannot target a Pokémon with the ability Deposition:

- Haze
- Poison Gas
- Smog
- Toxic
- Mist
- Whirlwind
- Will-O-Wisp
- Soak
- Venom Drench
- Electrify
- Corrosive Gas

I had thoughts of a counterpart ability to Intimidate that affects special attack. I thought Humiliate but I don't think that's a good name for it

If all Legendaries (and mythicals) had signature moves

A continuation of my last post. Since nowadays legendaries getting signature moves (either singular or a shared group) is the norm and we've even seen this be added retroactively with groups like the Lake trio I feel this could be continued. Note that much like, say, the Musketeer quartet, while they may start as signature moves that doesn't mean I think they should always be exclusive to them

Psysphere
Type-Psychic/Physical
Atk-100
Acc-100
PP-10
Effect-This move does special damage as well
Learned by-Mew (at Level 100)
Additional notes: Mew's signature is meant to represent that psychic bubble/sphere Mew used in the movie, along with acting as a counterpart to its clone's signature move

Ultra Lightning
Type-Electric/Special
Atk-150
Acc-100
PP-5
Effect-Same as Hyper Beam and Giga Impact
Learned by-Raikou (at Level 40)
Additional notes: While Suicune gets a bit more unique a move since it got special treatment, I had Raikou and Entei share a similar type of signature

Mega-Magma
Type-Fire/Physical
Atk-150
Acc-100
PP-5
Effect-Same as Hyper Beam and Giga Impact
Learned by-Entei (at Level 40)

Pure Water
Type-Water/Special
Atk-80
Acc-100
PP-10
Effect-This move cures the status conditions of all Pokemon on the field
Learned by-Suicune (at Level 40)
Additional notes: Reflects Suicune's ability to purify water

Future Vine
Type-Grass/Physical
Atk-120
Acc-100
PP-10
Effect-Same as Future Sight
Learned by-Celebi (at Level 70)
Additional notes: Meant to reflect Celebi's time travel ability but making it a counterpart to Future Sight. And physical for flavor/exploiting Celebi's attack stats being equal

Rocky Trap
Type-Rock/Physical
Atk-80
Acc-90
PP-15
Effect-This move sets up Stealth Rocks
Learned by-Regirock (at Level 40)
Additional notes-Meant to parallel Thunder Trap

Permafrost Power
Type-Ice/Special
Atk-150
Acc-100
PP-5
Effect-Same as Dragon Energy
Learned by-Regice (at Level 40)

Iron Switch
Type-Steel/Status
Atk-N/A
Acc-N/A
PP-10
Effect-Swaps the user's special defense and special attack stats
Learned by-Registeel (at Level 40)

Icy Trot
Type-Ice/Physical
Atk-70
Acc-100
PP-20
Effect-Same as Stomp
Learned by-Glastrier (Level 1)
Additional notes: While when combined with Calyrex Glastrier and Spectrier have signatures, the individual Pokemon on their own do not.

Spooky Hoof
Type-Ghost/Special
Atk-70
Acc-100
PP-20
Effect-Same as Stomp
Learned by-Spectrier (Level 1)

If All Starters Got A Signature Move

Similar stipulation and concept to the above. I've already covered the original Typhlosion and Samurott in my previous post

Kudzu Vine
Type-Grass/Special
Atk-80
Acc-10
PP-15
Effect-This move has a chance of causing the poisoned status on the opponent
Learned by-Venusaur (upon evolution)

Dragons Gift
Type-Dragon/Special
Atk-80
Acc-10
PP-15
Effect-This move is increased in power by 50% when not used by a Dragon type Pokemon
Learned by-Charizard (upon evolution)
Additional notes-An acknowledgement of while not Dragon type, Charizard is clearly draconic, by giving it a Dragon type move it can use to its fullest extent (the extra 50% means it can simulate same type attack bonus)

Drench Pulse
Type-Water/Special
Atk-80
Acc-100
PP-15
Effect-This move has a chance of inflicting the Soaked status on the opponent. It is affected by Mega Launcher
Learned by-Blastoise (upon evolution)

Grassy Replenish
Type-Grass/Status
Atk-N/A
Acc-N/A
PP-10
Effect-The user heals its HP by 50% of its maximum, and Grassy Terrain is set up. This move cannot be used when Grassy Terrain is active
Learned by-Meganium (upon evolution)

Water Ambush
Type-Water/Physical
Atk-80
Acc-100
PP-10
Effect-Same as Jaw Lock. This move is affected by Strong Jaw
Learned by-Feraligatr (upon evolution)
Additional notes: I know its name is not obvious, but it is meant to reference how crocodiles are ambush hunters and how they use their massive jaw strength

Grassy Shell
Type-Grass/Status
Atk-N/A
Acc-N/A
PP-10
Effect-The user's defense stats increase, and Grassy Terrain is set up. This move cannot be used when Grassy Terrain is active
Learned by-Torterra (upon evolution)

Zen Fist
Type-Fighting/Physical
Atk-80
Acc-100
PP-10
Effect-This move ignores the user or opponent's stat changes. It is affected by Iron Fist
Learned by-Infernape (upon evolution)
Additional notes-A bit of a nod to enlightenment, something something Sun Wukong

Aqua Trident
Type-Water/Physical
Atk-80
Acc-100
PP-10
Effect-Increased chance of critical hit. This move is affected by Sharpness
Learned by-Empoleon (upon evolution)

Spiny Press
Type-Grass/Physical
Atk-80
Acc-100
PP-10
Effect-This move uses the user's physical defense stat
Learned by-Chesnaught (upon evolution)

Burning Mind
Type-Psychic/Special
Atk-80
Acc-100
PP-10
Effect-This move has a chance of causing burns
Learned by-Delphox (upon evolution)

I had a similar concept for a similar ability quite a while back for a regional Arbok form I came up with and I went with Terrify. Other words I suppose you could use are things like Horrify, Mystify, Faze or Unsettle. If you wanted an ate sounding word there's also aggravate or irritate.
But it's a hard one to be fair.

Since Archaludon has the stats of a powerhouse Pokemon this idea of a baby Pokemon for it makes a fair bit of sense. And your Onix idea...got me thinking a bit

Shining Ore
Evolutionary item
Note: Capable of evolving some Rock and Ground types

Sandshovel, the Burrowing Pokemon
Type-Ground/Steel (Kantonian Sandshovel), Ice/Steel (Alolan Sandshovel)
Ability-Tough Claws (shared). The other abilities are unchanged
Evolution: Sandshrew-Lv 22/Ice Stone-Sandslash-Shining Ore-Sandshovel

Pokedex entry (Alolan Sandshovel)
  • "Being as good as digging through ground as its desert cousin, it's a master of digging through snow. One such example saved a town from a snow-in"
  • "Their frigid and sharp claws can cut clean through an iceberg. Their back spikes aren't as sharp though, so they have others of their kind help sharpen them with their own claws"

Crystallix, the Crystal Snake Pokemon
Type-Rock/Psychic
Ability-Natural Cure/Sturdy (normal), Earth Eater (Hidden)

  • "The crystals embedded in this Pokemon have a psychic energy, which psychics believed can be used to tell the future. They can only reach half the depth of their relatives Steelix".
Basis: Crystallix utilizes the concept of magic and mystical crystals into its design

Dugtitude and Wugtitude, the Colony Pokemon
Name basis: Dug/Wug and multitude/magnitude
Type-Ground (Kantonian Dugtitude), Ground/Steel (Alolan Dugtitude), Water/Rock (Wugtitude)
Ability-Unchanged
Evolution: Diglett/Wiglett-Lv 26-Dugtrio/Wugtrio-Shining Ore on either-Dugtitude/Wugtitude

Ghost-Type Master
New Ability!

Alpha Aura (JP: 神の力 "Power of God")
The Pokémon changes its type depending on the foe's attack.

A Pokémon with the ability Alpha Aura automatically changes its type depending on the incoming attack. The Pokémon assumes the type most effective in resisting the impending move. For example, if the opponent uses a Grass-type attack, the Pokémon will change into a Fire-type.

The ability only applies to attacks moves, and thus Status moves will not trigger a type change. Due to this, any type-related effects of that status move will apply. For example, if the Pokémon changes from Rock-type to Water-type while Sandstorm is active, it will take damage at the end of the turn. Conversely, it will not take damage if the opposite occurs. The Type-to-Type transition is as follows:

Attack Type
Type Change
Attack Type

Normal
Ghost

The ability Alpha Aura cannot negated, changed or swapped. It can, however, be copied by Power of Alchemy. A Pokémon with the ability Imposter will acquire Alpha Aura, but the ability will remain inactive. Alpha Aura will not activate while Origin Forme Giratina is in battle.

NOTE: This ability is meant to retire the use of Plates and Memory Discs, instead granting automatic type changes. Since the abilities Protean and Libero already exist, Alpha Aura is designed to be its counter. Terastal Forme Terapagos also receives this ability to tie-in the multitype concept it shares with Silvally and Arceus.

Type-Ground (Kantonian Dugtitude), Ground/Steel (Alolan Dugtitude), Water/Rock (Wugtitude)
Ability-Unchanged
Evolution: Diglett/Wiglett-Lv 26-Dugtrio/Wugtrio-Shining Ore on either-Dugtitude/Wugtitude
BST-515 (105 HP, 100 Atk, 70 Def, 50 Sp Atk, 70 Sp Def, 120 Speed)
Pokedex entry (Kantonian Dugtitude)
  • "A team of five (sometimes six) Pokemon that live and work together in a mound. They're incredibly fast, and are never found completely out of the ground"
  • "They regularly reshift and refresh earth and dirt so it can be serve as fertile ground for flora. They're a lot faster than their appearance would suggest"
Pokedex entry (Alolan Dugtitude)
  • "Their metallic whiskers aren't just good at digging through even hard rock, but also are considered fashionable. They like to compare with other Dugtitude on who has the better haircut"
  • "Their metallic whiskers can sense an earthquake days in advance. Sometimes an additional sixth member is added to the group"
Pokedex entry (Wugtitude)

  • "Deceptively fast, they're ambush predators that wrap and tear prey apart among all five members. Occasionally they have enough room for a sixth member of the colony"
Basis: Now a group of five, the dirt mount/rock they use is more developed, like an actual environment. Like Dudunsparce and Maushold there is a 1/100 chance of a different number of members, that being somethings they have a sixth member

What about an ecologically similar Pokemon. What do you think of "Snowygast", a convergent version of Sandygast?

New Mega Evolutions!

Mega Escavalier

- Mega Evolves from Escavalier with Escavalite

Type: Bug/Steel
Classification: Cavalry Pokémon
Height: 4'3" (1.28 m)
Weight: 146 lbs (66 kg)
Gender: 50.2% Male, 49.8% Female

Dex Entry 1: The energy of the stone materialized into additional armor. In this forme, Escavalier can endure even the most powerful of attacks.
Dex Entry 2: The weight of the additional armor weighs it down. Though impenetrable, the poor creature can hardly move.

Appearance: Mega Escavalier now has massive golden armor covering its entire body, except for its eyes, with the plume now brown instead of red. Its lance-like appendages have doubled in size. Its eyes now show weariness rather than anger.

Etymology: N/A

Ability: Full Effort - The Pokémon must recharge after attacking.
- Details: A Pokémon with the ability Full Effort automatically recharges after successfully landing an attack. Similar to moves like Hyper Beam, the ability will not activate if the attack misses. Full Effort cannot be suppressed, negated or swapped, but it can copied by Trace.

HP: 70
Attack: 155 (+20)
Defense: 155 (+50)

Dex Entry 1: With its membrane bandages removed, it now moves faster than ever; however, its body is now incredibly vulnerable. The power of Mega Evolution has granted it superior physical strength.
Dex Entry 2: It can strike down ten foes within a mere second. Despite its newfound power, its body's exposure to the elements slowly wears it down.

Appearance: Mega Accelgor appears somewhat humanoid, with longer arms and small visible legs still wrapped in bandages. Its green stripes are now dark red. It has somehow grown hands at the ends of its arms, with three fingers and a thumb on each.

Etymology: N/A

Dex 1- It resembles a creature found in a magazine. The magazine claims this a device that is in everyone's home to make sure they don't cause a problem to a future artificial superintelligence. It's poisionous fangs show what the consequences are.

Dex 2- It resembles a mysterious object mentioned in an old book. It was said that if its smiley face ever becomes a frown it is a sign it is about to attack.

Resembles a robot Spinarak but the face on its back is another digital face. When it attacks the face becomes a frown.

loves to trade pokemon
Abysmol, the Absol pre evo exists and it is adorable.

Prismeon and Toxeon are the new steel and poison eeveelutions. Probably need new evolution stones for them.

Signal beam and pursuit moves are back.

TMs are unlimited, TRs are single use.

You can decorate your Pokemon like in gen 4 contests and take photos of them.

Your room/secret base is customizable. You can have your mom save money and she might buy you a pokedoll or other furniture.

You can exchange craftable material for furniture, posters, and pokedolls.

There's some kind of multiplayer raid battles. TRs are among the rewards.

There are mini games where you can earn berries, apricorns, and Pokemon decorations.

There are berry trees you shake for berries, apricorns, and leftovers and sometimes a pokemon attacks when you shake it.

You get a bike that can be upgraded. Eventually it can ferry you across water.

The flying taxi is used to revisit places quickly.

Mostly a mix of features I liked from previous gens. This is a really cool thread btw.

@ Prince of Facade: I could see a full on evolution of Minior that's like Scyther's evolution in that the stats don't change, but the way its distributed is different

Miniorite, the Meteor Pokemon

Evolution-Minior-Use Shining Ore-Miniorite
BST-500 (60 HP, 80 Atk, 120 Def, 100 Sp.Atk, 100 Sp.Def, 40 Speed)

Pokedex entry
  • "A burnt up meteor that crashed on Earth. The spirit of the Pokemon it once was lurks within it"
  • "There is an alien entity within this meteorite, possessing it. The light coming from the craters is colored based off the meteorite's composition"
Basis: If Minior is a shooting star, Miniorite is said shooting star when it lands as a meteorite. This plays into the ghost typing
