It will run or hide from most battles as it is not yet confident in its abilities however if cornered it can be extremely dangerous as it can cut through bone.

Dex Entry 2- There is ancient artwork of this Pokemon that seems to indicate it can know a special dance that makes it an extra deadly hunter. Despite this it still prefers to avoid battles.

Appearance- resembles a smaller cuter Scyther. Its wings are much smaller even relative to its body.

  • Lit Globoil: "Globoil are walking biohazards that fill towns with smog should they be lit on fire. The rise of Globoil havoc has further encouraged green energy sources"
Basis: Petrorb is a blob monster archetype made out of oil. Though mainly spherical/round as a blob, it has some dinosaur-like shape that references the origin of dinosaurs. Its Incendiary ability references oil's flammability and use as fuel

Griteach, Flexack and Silibulk, the Sandbag Pokemon

Pair Pokemon

Burgloney, Baxgeron and Vespabane, the Honey and Sweet Stealer Pokemon
Name basis: Burgle+honey, Badger+Hexagon, Vespa+bane
Type-Normal(Burgloney), Normal/Bug(Baxgeron)
Ability-Honey Gather/Immunity(normal), Guts(Hidden)
Evolution: Burgloney-Lv 20-Baxgeron-Lv 35 with a Combnite or Vespiquen in the party-Vespabane
Gender ratio-3 male/1 female
Egg group-Field
Pokedex entry
  • Burgloney: "The honey-loving Burgloney is famous for its thick skin and thicker skull. Despite all the sting marks angry Combee put on them, they'll never stop in coveting their honey"
  • Baxgeron: "Baxgeron have become so used to Combee venom they've gained some of their species' traits, like claws that inflict a sting. When they want some meat in their diet, they like to poach people's backyard"
  • Vespabane: "In spite of being strong pests, Vespabane have a cult following because of their can-do, unflinching personality. They're in an eternal conflict with Combnite and Vespiquen for their constant honey pilfering"
Basis: The Burgloney line are modeled after the honey badger. They're one of two early game Normal types. They grow a sort of beard over time, that starts with sting marks like acne, then glooping honey, and finally an epic comb beard. They also gain some small traits of bees while otherwise being a badger

Combnite, the Honey Soldier Pokemon
Name basis: Comb+Knight
Type-Bug/Fighting
Ability-Swarm(normal), Sturdy(Hidden)
Evolution: Male Combee-reach Lv 20 with a Burgloney or Baxgeron in the party-Combnite
BST: 474(70 HP, 122 Atk, 122 Def, 60 Sp.Atk, 62 Sp.Def, 40 Speed)
Pokedex entry: "Combnite are the first line of defense to their lady Vespiquen's beehive. Arch-enemies of the Burgloney line, they fight valiantly to stop them from stealing the hive's honey"
Basis: These are drone bees that unlike their real life counterparts, aren't useless. They're soldiers who use their comb as a shield

Yulibird, the Holiday Pokemon
Name basis: Yule+bird
Type-Ice/Fairy
Ability-Thick Fat/Vital Spirit(normal), Unburden(Hidden)
Evolution: Delibird-Trade for a Birchpus-Yulibird
Pokedex entry: "Yulibird are magical creatures who contain many valuable treats and items in their sack. They offer them up to any kind-hearted soul; bad souls will instead have to deal with Yulemali"
Basis: Again, its Santa, but this time thicker and like actual penguins can't fly(though it can learn moves that let it Levitate). It has reindeer horns

Birchpus and Yulemali, the Naughty Goat and Foul Winter Pokemon
Name basis: Birch+krampus, Yule+malice
Type-Ice/Dark
Ability-Intimidate
Evolution: Birchpus-Trade for a Delibird-Yulemali
Gender ratio-50/50
Egg group-Monster
Pokedex entry
  • Birchpus: "Birchpus are foul Pokemon who bring frostbite to naughty children. At least, that's what parents say to get them to behave during the winter"
  • Yulemali: "Yulemali are bound to Yulibird and utilized to frighten children into obedience. Though brutal Pokemon, they will never seriously harm people and leave good children alone"
Basis: Like how Delibird is meant to be Santa, is meant to be the Pokemon version of the Krampus. I didn't want the name to be too obvious

Popcorn Pokemon

Cacernelian, Poptotecorn and Xipamazis, the Kernel, Popcorn and Grim Renewal Pokemon
Type-Grass(Cacernelian), Grass/Fire(Poptotecorn, Xipamazis)
Name basis: Kernel+Caecilian, Totec+Popcorn, Xipe+Maize+dermis
Ability-Shed Skin(normal), Fluffy(Hidden)
Evolution: Cacernelian-Lv 30-Poptotecorn-Lv 60-Xipamazis
Egg group-Monster/Water 1
Gender ratio-1 male/1 female
Pokedex entry
  • Cacernelian: "Despite their typing, Cacernelian are closer to Water types than most Grass types. Their worm-like body has a bunch of corn kernels growing on it"
  • Poptotecorn: "Microwave radiation have the Poptotecorn's kernels pop up. This is useful for defense, and is shed to feed their children; they can easily regrow it"
  • Xipamazis: "In the past Xipamazis served as both a source of heat during the winter, and a source of food by giving people their popcorn hide. Though they have a menacing white and red appearance, they're kind-hearted and generous Pokemon"
Basis: The Cacernelian line are a psuedo-legendary that takes inspiration from three different sources-popcorn, Xipe Totec and the caecilian. Xipe is a rebirth deity who flayed himself to give food to humanity, like how maize seeds lose their opening. Some species of caecilians have their mother feed the outer layer of their skin. They're HP focused compared to the other psuedo-legendaries

Feliursade and Popviverd, the Smelly and Sweet Scent Pokemon
Type-Normal/Poison
Name basis: Felidae+ursa, Viverred+popcorn
Ability-Fluffy/Pickup(normal), Poison Touch(Hidden)
Evolution: Feliursade-Lv 28-Popviverd
Egg group-Field
Gender ratio-1 male/1 female
Pokedex entry
  • Feliursade: "The smell and fluff on a Feliursade's backside is very similar to popcorn. In reality it's nothing but sweaty, poisonous fur"
  • Popviverd: "Popviverd's "popcorn back" and "buttery secretions" are both toxic, and they help absorb shock. Anyone who tries to peck at the "popcorn" won't be around for long"
Basis: The binturong. Similar to Sudowoodo while it superficially resembles a Grass type, it isn't one. Its hidden ability references popcorn as a snack.

BDSP- Challenge mode

This would an optional mode you could turn on much like challenge mode and would give many battles an increased Pokemon. I've given each trainer an additional Pokemon of their type when possible (Wormadam's forms really helped) or a Pokemon that can at least learn a move of their type. I also gave one trainer a pre-evolution just because they arleady had 3 Pokemon not of their type. Also evolved some to add to the challenge.

Gym Battles

Fantina- Drifblim, Murkrow (knows shadow ball), Gengar & Mismagius

Volkner- Pachirisu, Raichu, Ambipom, Octillery & Luxray

Elite 4 match

Wordplay Serpents

Vipquaker and Swindoil, the Silver Tongue Pokemon
Name basis: Viper+Quackery, Swindle+oil
Type-Dark/Poison
Ability-Poison Touch(normal), Hydrophobic(Hidden). Hydrophobic makes the user immune to Water type attacks, even non-damaging ones
Evolution: Vipquaker-Poison Stone-Swindoil
Egg group-Field
Gender ratio-1 male/1 female
Pokedex entry
  • Vipquaker: "As their bite isn't too strong, Vipquaker resort to deception. They pretend to aid injured and poisoned Pokemon, making their toxic oil seem like a sedative"
  • Swindoil: "The colorful Swindoil casts a friendly, harmless persona, and they'll immediately use that to get their prey at their most vulnerable. Over a century ago unscruplous businessmen sold their oil as a pancea.
Basis: The Vipquaker line is based off the snake oil salesman, being an oily viper that pretends to help. It still knows a number of healing moves to sell the act and is designed to look colorful and playful, which is also a nod at how poisonous animals tend to be colorful.

Swolboa and Flexython, the Muscular Pokemon

Canada Connoisseur
Inspired by my current vacation, I decided to create a region based on the Lone Star State - Texas!

Region Name: Tehana (from "Tejana", the Spanish word for someone from Texas. The name "Texas" itself comes from a Native American word meaning "friend")

Region Location: Somewhere southwest of Unova and northeast of Alola, in keeping with real-life geography

Climate: Hot and arid deserts, warm and humid coasts and cities (it sometimes rains, and there can be tornadoes and hurricanes)

Professor: Professor Pecan (the state tree of Texas, which also gives the eponymous nut)

Starters: A Grass-type cactus, a Fire/Steel-type armadillo and a Water-type pelican

Main Cities: Astron City (based on Houston and the NASA Space Center, it is the Tehana region's largest city, and is like a much bigger version of Hoenn's Mossdeep City), Oilfield City (based on Dallas), Alamo City (based on San Antonio and the Alamo), Lonestar City (based on Austin, the state capital of Texas and home to many music festivals), El Camino City (based on El Paso, it is the final city before the Tehana League)

Gym Leaders: Rocky (Rock), Dusty (Ground, the brother of Rocky), Marla (Water), Stan (Steel), Sunny (Grass), Marty (Fighting), Elliott (Electric) and Kyle (Flying)

Elite Four: Gomez (Ghost), Darren (Dark), Isabel (Fairy) and Sadie (Psychic)

Champion: Cliff (mostly uses Rock and Ground types, named after the villain and JR Ewing's nemesis Cliff Barnes in the popular 80s TV show Dallas)

I'll come up with the evil team and leader, and the legendaries sometime later.

New Pokémon!

Lilibertas
[lih-LEE-ber-tahs]

Evolves from Lileep via Float Stone
Type: Rock/Flying
Classification: Feather Star Pokémon
Height: 6" 11’ (2.1m)
Weight: 10 lbs. (4.5 kg)
Gender: 87.5% Male; 12.5% Female

Dex Entry 1: It swims elegantly in the sea with its many tentacles. It sucks in prey through its mouth like a vacuum; very few can escape its reach.
Dex Entry 2: It evolves upon removing itself from its heavy stem. Its newfound movement allows it to avoid predators easily. However, it lacks intelligence, so it could find itself flowing right into a trap.

Appearance: Lilibertas has a small purple body with a black shadowy face and gold eyes, similar to that of Lileep. Protruding from its body are sixteen large tentacles, pale pink in color. The tentacles are 3x the size of Lilibertas’ body and very thin. Gold rings circle the outside of its body, similar to that of Lileep.
Etymology: Lilibertas derives from ‘lily’ and ‘libertas,’ the Latin word for freedom.
Ability: Storm Drain
Hidden Ability: Hydraulic – Boosts Speed if hit with a Water-type move.
- Additional Info: A Pokémon with this ability negates any Water-type move that hits it, instead boosting its Speed by 50%. A Pokémon with this ability gains +1 priority while Rain is in effect. However, the Pokémon gains -1 priority while Harsh Sunlight is in effect.

Signature Move: Push Back
Type: Water
Category: Special
Power: 30
Accuracy: 100
PP: 15
Description: The user continually launches itself at the target over five turns. It becomes more powerful each time it hits.
- Additional Info: If the Pokémon is hit prior to using the move, its base power automatically doubles in addition to the next stage of power increase. For example. If the user is nearing its second turn of Push Back, meaning a base power of 60, but the opponent attacks first, Push Back immediately doubles to 60 following damage calculation, and then doubles as usual during the user’s turn, to a base power of 120. This increase only occurs from direct damage dealt by the opponent during their turn, and does not apply during Double Battles when hit by an ally.

(I hope I'm not doing anything wrong by double posting. If I am, delete this post.)

I recently remembered a pokemon I came up with back when I was still a wee lad. All I could remember about it was its name, its typing (Rock), and that it was based on an obelisk. I took what I could remember and recreated it into something I really like.

New Pokémon!

Lumnox
(LOOM-nocks)
Type: Rock/Fairy
Classification: Tower Pokémon
Height: 31’ (9.4 m)
Weight: 3,441 lbs. (1,560 kg)
Gender: Genderless

Dex Entry 1: It is believed to have existed for over 3,000 years. Due to its lifeless appearance, many thought it wasn’t even a Pokémon. It stands guard, protecting something unknown.
Dex Entry 2: Its true purpose is lost to history. It radiates a powerful aura of light that soothes those it shines upon. However, those with evil in their hearts will instead be burned by the light.

Appearance:
QimYuNP.jpg

Etymology:
Lumnox derives the English word column, as well as the Latin words lum and nox, meaning light and dark respectively. It also derives from the Latin word noxias, meaning harmful.

Ability: Cursed Light - Fairy-type moves inflict Burn on Dark and Poison-type Pokémon.
- Additional Info: Fairy-type attacks used by a Pokémon with this ability will always inflict Burn on a Dark or Poison-type Pokémon. This ability’s effect cannot be negated upon activation, but the Burn can be cured afterwards. This ability ignores type changes, accounting only for the original typing of the target Pokémon.

Signature Move: Doom Ray
Type: Fairy
Category: Special
Power: none
Accuracy: 35
PP: 5
Description: The target is attacked with deadly ray of light. The target faints instantly if this attack hits.
- Additional Info: The base accuracy of this moves doubles to 70 when used on a Dark or Poison-type Pokémon. This effect ignores type changes, accounting only for the original typing of the target Pokémon.

Ampipom
Normal/Electric
Ability- Technician/Electric Surge
Hidden ability- Skill link
Evolves from Ambipom using a Sinnoh stone while knowing an electric move

HP-85
Attack-145
Special attack- 40
Defence- 96
Special Defence-86
Speed- 140
Total- 592

- Double Edge
- Thunder
- Swords Dance
- Tri Attack
- Magnet Rise
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch
- Fire Punch
- Spark Smash
- Electric terrain
- Agility
- Double Hit

Can also learn any move from its previous evolved forms and also gets multiple electric moves

Dex Entry 1- This Pokemon's tail arms can move so quick they generate electricity. Over time they can even make the ground electrically charged.

Dex Entry 2- It is said their power was given to them by a legendary Pokemon. It was long thought to be a myth until Volkner managed to rediscover the method of evolution.

New Move
Spark Smash- Electric (Physical)- BP 120-5PP- Lowers the user's defence and special defence by 1 stage after use.

Appearance- Looks like a larger Ambipom but with more yellow and black parts.

Note- Was originally considered as Mega evolution for Volkner but then considered that as Sinnoh has so far not had megas decided to go for a full evolution. Mainly for the purpose so Volkner's ambipom in initial gym battle is a bit more logical.

New Pokémon!

Cryorana
(cree-oh-RAH-nah)
Type: Grass/Fairy (Forest Form), Grass/Ice (Winter Form)
Classification: Frozen Frog Pokémon
Height: 2’1” (0.63 m)
Weight: 36 lbs. (16.3 kg)
Gender: 49% Male; 51% Female

Dex Entry 1: This Pokémon contains a biological system that allows it to endure harshly cold environments. It can withstand temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius.
Dex Entry 2: Its heart stops beating while it's in hibernation, but it somehow manages to survive. While hibernating, its body cannot be penetrated. Even a Corviknight will have a tough time at it.

Appearance:
sMkf9Jn.jpg

Etymology:
Cryorana derives from cryo, a Greek suffix meaning ‘cold,’ and rana, the Spanish word for frog.

Ability: Winter Mode – The Pokémon changes form when hit with an Ice-type move.
Additional Info: Cryorana will transform into its Winter Form when hit with an Ice-type move. No damage is taken when the ability is activated, making Cryorana immune to Ice-type moves while in its Forest Form. Cryorana will also change form while Hail or Snow is in effect. While in Winter Mode, Cryorana will transform back into its Forest Form if hit with a Fire-type move, or while Sunny Day is in effect. No damage is taken when the ability is activated, making Cryorana immune to Fire-type moves while in its Winter Form.
Weather Effect Clause – Winter Mode is highly weather-dependent. If a Forest Mode Cryorana is hit with an Ice-type move while Sunny Day is active, it will transform into its Winter Form, then immediately transform back due to the weather. Conversely, if a Winter Mode Cryorana is hit with a Fire-type move while Hail or Snow is active, it will transform into its Forest Form, then immediately transform back into its Winter Form due to the weather.

Signature Move: Heart Heal
Type: Grass
Category: Status
Power: none
Accuracy: none
PP: 5
Description: The user protects its body with energy pulled from nature. The effect varies by form.
Additional Info: While in its Forest Form, Heart Heal will raise Cryorana’s Defense, Special Defense, and Speed by 1 stage. While in its Winter Form, Heart Heal will restore Cryorana’s HP by 50%.

Burneary
Ability-Cute Charm/Drought
Hidden ability- Limber
Type-Normal/Fire
Evolves from Lopunny using a Sinnoh stone while knowing an fire move

HP-85
Attack- 40
Special Attack- 145
Defence- 96
Special Defence- 101
Speed- 125
Total- 592

- Solarbeam
- Fire Blast
- Nasty Plot
- Tri Attack
- Flamethrower
- Energy Ball
- Solar Healing
- Smokescreen
- Firestorm
- Sunny Day
- Agility
- Will-O-Wisp

Can also learn any moves its pre-evolution can learn

New moves
Solar Healing- Fire- (Status)- The user restores its own HP. The amount of HP regained varies with the weather (basically a Synthesis variant for fire types) (mentioned in a previous post but useful here)

Firestorm- Fire- (special) 110BP-Accuracy-70%- 5PP-Always hits in sunlight, has a 10% chance of causing a burn.

Dex Entry 1- This Pokemon's red fur is symbolic of its fiery nature. It has abandoned its need to fight directly and will unleash flames so hot they can even effect the weather.

Dex Entry 2- It is said their power was given to them by a legendary Pokemon. It was long thought to be a myth until Flint managed to rediscover the method of evolution.

Note- Was originally considered as Mega evolution for Sinnoh but then considered that as Sinnoh has so far not had megas decided to go for a full evolution. Mainly for the purpose so Volkner's Lopunny in initial elite 4 battle is a bit more logical. Also focused on special attack so Mega Lopunny is still useful should it return.

Appearance- Looks like a larger Lopunny with red fur. It takes some inspiration from fire Nymphs.

I had came up with this idea in another thread, so I felt, why not share it? :D

Mega Unown

Type: Psychic
Classification: Symbol Pokémon
Height: 20’ (6.09 m)
Weight: 1,100 lbs. (498.9 kg)
Gender: Genderless

Dex Entry 1: In this state, all the Unown act as one. Their power is thus amplified extremely, making them virtually indestructible.
Dex Entry 2: The hive mind thinks as a single unit. When the collective fire an attack, it is strong enough to shake the ground for miles.

Appearance:
C15H7C8.jpg

Etymology: N/A

Ability: Hive Body - The Pokémon takes quartered damage from physical attacks, but Defense drops.
- Additional Info: Mega Unown only receives 1/4th of the damage of any physical attack inflicted on it by an opposing Pokémon, including Struggle. However, each time it is hit with a physical attack, its Defense drops by one stage. This also applies to any attack that targets Defense, so Psyshock and Shell Side Arm are taken into account.

Base Stats
HP: 48
Attack: 48 (-24)
Defense: 68 (+20)
Sp. Atk: 124 (+52)
Sp. Def: 100 (+52)
Speed: 48 (+0)
Total: 436 (+100)

I've come up with a Regional Variant for Hitmonlee: A Fighting/Dragon-Type version of Hitmonlee with the traits of a T-Rex (including body structure and tinier arms than regular Hitmonlee, heh), giving him thicker legs and stronger kicking power.

As for how to evolve Tyrogue into that variant of Hitmonlee: Maybe have Tyrogue level up while in a certain location and holding a Dragon Scale?

Quilfugu
Type-Water/Poison
Ability- Toxic Point/Swift Swim
Hidden ability- Intimidate
Evolves from Johtonian Quilfish with a Water Stone while knowing Barb Barrage

Stats
HP-80
Attack-105
Special attack-55
Defence- 85
Special Defence- 80
Speed-105
Total- 510

Moves
-Liquidation
-Barb Barrage
-Aqua Jet
-Recover
-Poison Jab
-Inflation
-Pin Missile
-Venosmash
-Aqua Ring
-Bulk Up
-Minimize
-Toxic Spikes

Can also learn any move Johtonian Quilfish can learn

Dex Entry 1- Quilfugu is an extremely poisonous Pokémon and yet many people choose to eat it. It is rarely seen in the wild due to overfishing.

Dex Entry 2- Upon evolving this Pokémon takes advantage of its superior swimming capability and evades predators. When needed it inflates itself to intimidate them and to help it take dangerous attacks.

New Moves
Inflation-(Status)-Normal- 10PP-
Primary effect Increases own Defence, Special Defence & Accuracy by 1 stage but decreases evasion and Speed by 1 stage.
Secondary effect- Takes reduced damage from stomp and similar moves (e.g. moves that do increased damage after using minimize) after 1 use (this secondary effect does not stack but can be undone by using minimize)

Venosmash- (Physical)-Poison-65BP-5PP- does double damage when target is poisoned.

New Ability-Toxic Point- Has a 30% chance of badly poisoning any foe that makes contact with it.

Appearance- Resembles Quilfish, some of the initial designs for a Quilfish evo from gen 2 but also resembles Takifugu chinensis (hence the whole overfishing thing)

Why a T-Rex though? Hitmonlee already has a reference to Bruce Lee, also known as "The Dragon". Moves like Breaking Swipe, Dragon Claw, Dragon Hammer, Dragon Tail and Dual Chop could easily be labelled as special kicking moves :D
