Create Your type expert

Ok So the rules are quite simple:
1. Chose a Gym Leader or Elite Four Member (Or other type specialist)
2. Replace them with another specialist you came up with. NOTE: specialist must use a type not represented by a specialist in the same Region (e.g. In Kanto you can only choose Bug, Flying, Normal, Steel, Fairy and Dark). Decide who the person replaces
3. Create their Team, up to 5 Pokemon (6 for rematches). At least 60% (2/3, 3/4, 3/5, 4/6) of the Team have to be Pokemon introduced in the corresponding generation.
4. No Pokemon introduced in following Gen (expect rematch), e.g. if you are doing Hoenn no Sinnoh mons etc.
5. No Legendaries
6. Explain why you want to Exchange the person.

I'll start:
A Grass-Type Hoenn Elite 4 member who will substitude Glacia.
Team:
1. Breelom
2. Tropius
3. Cacturne
4. Cradily
5. Ludicolo
Left Shiftry since Sindey has one and Ludicolo is my OG Trainer Ace. Left Roselia as it seems quite weak and Wally has one. Left out Sceptile as I don't like when Gym Leaders and E4 use starters. Decided to replace Glalia Due to lack of Ice Types in Hoenn.

I'm going with a Fairy-type E4 member to replace Flint, since there weren't many Fire-types in Sinnoh and he had an Infernape on his team. Their team would be:
  • Wigglytuff
  • Granbull
  • Gardevoir
  • Mawile
  • Togekiss

Dragon lover
I would replace Clair the dragon type gym leader with a water specialist, since we already have Lance. I’d name her Cecelia (Just cause). She’d start with a four mon team like Clair did.
  • Lanturn lv 38 with Volt Absorb; moves would be Thunder Wave, Bubblebeam, Signal Beam, and Discharge.
  • Skowking lv 38 with Own Tempo; moves would be Nasty Plot, Power Gem, Water Pulse and Zen Headbutt.
  • Gyarados lv 38 with Intimidate; moves would be Bite, Twister, Ice Fang, and Aqua Tail.
  • Kingdra lv 41 with Sniper; moves would be Yawn, Hydro Pump, Dragon Pulse and Signal Beam.
I feel like this would be a decently challenging team, especially since she would keep Gyarados and Kingdra (Just change a few moves). For her rematch team, I’m going to use the Heart Gold/Soul Silver games as the base as it opens up more options and you actually couldn’t rematch gym leaders in the original G/S/C.
  • Sharpedo lv 52 with Rough Skin; moves would be Ice Fang, Crunch, Aqua Jet and Waterfall.
  • Empoleon lv 52 with Torrent; moves would be Ice Bean, Surf, Flash Cannon and Drill Peck.
  • Starmie lv 52 with Natural Cure; moves would be Power Gem, Thunderbolt, Psychic, and Hydro Pump.
  • Slowking lv 56 with Own Tempo; moves would be Power Gem, Surf, Psychic, and Focus Blast.
  • Gyarados lv 56 with Intimidate; moves would be Waterfall, Earthquake, Ice Fang, and Stone Edge.
  • Kingdra lv 60 with Sniper; moves would be Dragon Pulse, Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, and Signal Beam.
Edit: Also I know that the rematch team doesn’t technically fit the criteria of “60% of the team must be from the corresponding region” however some rematch teams tend to not do this and instead opt to use several Pokemon from other regions. I did make sure the gym challenge team fit this though so I hope this ok.

Everything stinks
Personally, I would replace bruno with a ground type specialist, especially considering we already have a fighting specialist in Jhoto in the form of Chuck. Of course, he would start off with 5 mons (same as bruno).

Initial team.
Rhydon lv42 (Ab:Rock Head): Earthquake, Rock Slide, Fire Punch, Protect.
Nidoking lv42 (Ab: Poison point): Earthquake, Poison Jab, Surf, Thunderbolt.
Dugtrio lv42 (Ab: Arena Trap): Earthquake, Sucker Punch, Rock Slide, Swagger.
Gligar lv43 (Ab: Hyper Cutter): Earthquake, Aerial Ace, X-Scissor, Roost.
Quagsire lv46 (Ab: Water absorb): Earthquake, Waterfall, Ice Punch, Amnesia.

Rematch team
Rhyperior lv62 (Ab: Solid Rock): Earthquake, Stone Edge, Fire Punch, Stealth Rock.
Nidoking lv61 (Ab: Poison Point): Earthquake, Poison Jab, Thunder, Surf.
Claydol lv61 (Ab: Levitate): Cosmic Power, Earth Power, Psychic, Shadow Ball.
Garchomp lv62 (Ab: Sand Veil): Earthquake, Outrage, Swords Dance, Flamethrower.
Quagsire lv64 (Ab: Water absorb): Earthquake, Waterfall, Ice Punch, Amnesia.
Gliscor lv64 (Ab: Hyper Cutter): Earthquake, Aerial Ace, X-Scissor, Roost.

I too will do this, but replace Wigglytuff, and Granbull with Clefable, and Azumarill. We also pretend that Mega Evolution has always existed and Mawille can Mega Evolve

I just want to put a Fairy type specialist in a pre Kalos location. That’s all.

A single misplaced step
Replace Phoebe in Hoenn with a Ground-type specialist due to her repeating too many Pokémon. Doesn't follow the rule of having majority new Pokémon, but they're all in the Hoenn Pokédex and others like Flygon and Camerupt are used by important trainers.

Initial battle:

Sandslash (Lv. 48)
Golem (Lv. 49)
Swampert (Lv. 49) or Whiscash (Lv. 49) if you don't like trainers having starters.
Donphan (Lv. 50)
Claydol (Lv. 51)

Since rematches are only in ORAS I'm including Pokémon up to Gen VI.
Rematch:
Donphan (Lv. 71)
Golurk (Lv. 71)
Golem (Lv. 71)
Mamoswine (Lv. 71)
Claydol (Lv. 71)
Mega Garchomp (Lv. 73)

You know what's tempting to do? To rework all of the Gym Leaders from Gen 1 to Gen 7 now that we have almost 900 Pokémon to choose from ;) Pretty sure that trainers such as Brock, Lorelei, Morty, Pryce, Clair, Karen and Lance would have gotten a LOT more variety than what we grew up with XD

I honestly do not know how to work my suggestion into this topic, but... I'd like Brycen-man to be a Leader with his Dark-type team. In fact, I'm kinda surprised that he didn't return as one of the Leaders, BUT with a different typing. Hey it's not like BW2 could not have swapped Leaders around :p

I just want to put a Fairy type specialist in a pre Kalos location. That’s all.

How about Johto? I had an idea for a BW2 esque Johto sequel where Whitney is replaced by one of her former gym trainers who shifts towards specializing in Fairy types, Fairy fits the cutesy theme now more than Normal and you can't have Whitney without her Miltank so it's best to just replace her and battle Whitney elsewhere in the game. I had the Goldenrod gym as 4th, so here would be her team at that point in the game:

Togetic Lv. 25
Azumarill Lv. 25
Granbull Lv. 27

As for a rematch team, maybe something like this:

Clefable Lv. 61
Azumarill Lv. 62
Ribombee Lv. 62
Florges Lv. 62
Togekiss Lv. 63
Granbull Lv. 65

Swap out Grimsley in the elite 4 in B2W2 with a steel specialist.

Skarmory 49
Empoleon 48
Ferrothorn 52
Excadrill 51
Bisharp 52

Rematch team:

Skarmory 69
Bronzong 69
Empoleon 69
Bisharp 68
Excadrill 70
Escavalier 71

Skarmory sets rocks, and Bronzong has screens and explosion. Rest are setup sweepers. It's not overpowered but also requires more strategy than pressing Close Combat 4 times to beat Grimsley.
