Creaters opinions on dubbed anime

Well, I know that the title sounds like it is going to inform you, but this thread is to ask a question that i have been wondering about. After watching One Piece, both dubbed and subbed, I was wondering what some of the creators thought of their shows been heavily edited. For example, in One Piece, the story has been changed, most of the seriousiosness and violance is removed where possible, certain episodes, relevant to the main story, are removed for no apparant reason.

With my little rant over, I was wondering if there were any creaters of anime series who dislike what dubbing companies, *cough4kidscough*, have done to their original works?

The only time I've heard anything on this subject is that supposedly the guy who made Cowboy Bebop thinks the dub is better than the original...

Miyazaki obviously (and deservedly) had problems with the original dub of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, renamed Warriors of the Wind and the plot being re-written by New World Video. Afterwards, Miyazaki made it clear that no alterations be made to any of his work, thus all dubs of Miyazki's work are brought over uncut and shown uncut as well.

Other than that, nothing else comes to my mind at the moment.

Everytime I see this mentioned, I wish I could spit and laugh at the face of elitists everywhere.

I think I heard somewhere that Kazuki Takahashi doesn't care how Yu-gi-oh! is dubbed, so long as it retains his message of friendship (though, he really should concern himself. 4kids made Anzu so overly preachy on the matter to the point of annoyance, who would honestly wanna listen to her?).

I know that Akira Toriyama has put Dragon Ball behind him, he could care less how it's dubbed. Also, Naoko Takeuchi wrote somewhere that she watched the Dic dub of Sailor Moon back when it was new, and she seemed to enjoy it.

If anything, I think she'd be madder at Toei (the people who made the anime). The dub may have been a hackjob, but it's accurate compared to what the anime did to the manga...

Actually I rember seeing the creator of Pirnce of Tennis say the Anime should differ from the Manga as kids don't want to watch exactly what they have read.

Well, I suppose that if most anime creators are not that bothered, then there is little hope for them standing up for when some of the shows are butchered. I mean, if anu one has actually seen One Piece, and i know that i keep coming back to this, they will know how much they changed the story, edited bits out, and even changed some of the characters personalities a bit. (By this I am refering to Usopp, as in they have made him into more of a joker and he barly ever mentions his dream in the dub).
