Creating a thread or submitting a post/PM.

Fox

Where's my fanfare?
Well, in the past few days, there have been a few cases of duplicate threads coming up, and I just wanted to address this for those who post threads, and those who see the threads. I also decided to make a fresh new topic, so people will bother to read the first post and subsequent posts rather than just replying to thet topic title and later posts.

Topic Posters
Just be sure to click the submit button only once and wait for the thread to finish loading. If you're not sure if whether or not it went through, open another window to the forum and look to see if your topic is there. If you click the [Submit New Thread] button multiple times, you may wind up making a thread for each time you click on it. The result would be clutter and 'SPAM' of the forums, and most people will react upon it.

I would also like to note, and remind you that its a good idea to explain what your thread is about in the title. It gets quite frustrating to see threads with titles such as "question", "help me", "I'm new at this", "where do I find...", etc. Tell people what your topic is about in the title.

People who see duplicate threads
Just PM an active moderator of that forum, an SMod, or an Admin to alert them of the situation. Usually duplicate threads have the exact same time, and exact same text in the first post. Don't add to the SPAM by saying stuff like "No need to make so many threads" or "This is spam *reports to mod*" In fact, you should never respond to something such as that within the thread. There should be some sort of post/thread coming soon on the difference between negative/disruptive mini-modding and helpful/supportive assitance in the event of SPAM, flaming, or whatever.

Edit:
In case anybody was wondering, the most unintentional duplicate threads I've ever seen personally, was 13.

I'm sorry, but it's kind of ridiculous that this had to be posted. I think it's common sense that you should wait for your topic to show up. Also, Crazedyanma, yes they could, but they should include a reason for deletion just to be on the safe side.

Couldn't they just delete their own extra post(s)? Why don't they just do that?

Because a great deal of people are unaware they can delte their own posts, and even if they are, they are lazy.

Thank you, Fox...I wish this announcement really wasn't needed, but when the forums were buggy I saw some double/triple/etc posts that were obviously a mistake--same wording, posted at the same time, probably just due to the slow forums--and three or four people would respond with "God did you have to post that 3 times???? That's against the RULES!!111 *Reports*"

There's no reason to post that kind of thing when it's on PURPOSE, let alone when it's very obviously an accident. >>;; Report and walk away, people. Report and walk away.

Some people in duplicate accounts do SPAMing in thier own treads and also flame stuff but newbies SPAM more of thier thread titiles and thier comment's so i would've kept this forum safe too :D

I admit, I did do this thing once before when the server was very laggy/down but I always got off my arse to delete the repeated post/thread or something when the server was back. People ought to get off their bums and not be so lazy to delete their accidental repeated postings
Excatly Midnight Eefi, that drive me nerves by acting being a hostile!

And that should be bolded, italicized, and everything, in biggest size. I'll admit that I did this sometimes in the way past, but it is just adding to the spam. And sometimes people just don't see it.

If only people did just that... if only everyone did that. Wouldn't this be a less spammy place?

And then about the unintentional postings. Whether it is your computer lag or the server lag, it also means that we should be more patient with things, so as Fox mentioned, just click once and let it load slowly.

I've done worse before, but I deleted them all as it was an acident before a Mod could assess the problem. But yes, when my computer is slow, I tend to click a little too much.

I'm glad this thread was finally made. I've seen where people got impatient for waiting for the screen to load and when I would push new posts, someone would have 4 or 5 threads with exactly the same thing. @_@ I'd just report one and explain there what happened. :O

I know. >O I have yet to find out why people post to other SPAM when they're SPAMing themselves. >_>; Common sense is lacking in humanity these days. Especially here at SPPf....*sighs*

Yeah, this thread was badly needed. Thank you, Fox for reminding us all. And agreed with Midnight Eefi, you should bold that since many people including me occasionally tend to do so.

i remember those 13 threads (i think). i had a fun time reporting it to Psiumbreon. (if it's a different 13 then sorry)

it's a good idea to do this. people can get wrongly accused of double posting if they don't know what's going on.

But your right. When you think about it, this is practically a thread teaching people about what a computer can do.

Safe side of what? I never included a reason why I deleted my posts. Are there consequences for not doing that?

Really? That's shocking. No seriously, it is shocking.
