Back-story

You’ve have all heard of the stories that say Clefairies came from the moon, have you not? Well, what if I told you, that was more or less the case for all pocket monsters.

Pokemon, tens of thousands of years ago, had a home world, all to themselves. The common pokemon lived peaceful with both each other and the ones we know, today, as gods. They were unified as an entire planet, though they had many separately governed countries. They were technologically advanced; even by our modern standards. Everything was as close to perfect as they come.

Until the day the skies turned red.

An alien race, simply known as the Shadows, invaded. They came by riding on asteroids that harmlessly crashed on the surface of the planet. They quickly took control over most of the planet—it was not a violent take-over either.

The Shadows are a species that lack a truly solid body. They resemble smoke more than a truly living thing. They’re a symbiotic species; they entered the bodies of Pokemon and corrupted their souls.

When Arceus finally gave up hope for rescuing their planet from the clutches of the Shadows, and gave the call for a full-planet evacuation. Palkia and Dialga searched the galaxies to find a planet capable of sustaining the remaining population. All the twin gods found was a planet already inhabited by a strange species called Humans.

After hearing the poor creatures’ pleas for sanctuary, the early humans agreed to share their planet with the homeless monsters. The gods gathered their remaining followers and Lady Palkia strained herself to transport them to the far-off planet Earth.

Still, to this day, no one knew why the Shadows wanted to takeover the Pokemon home world so badly when there was an uninhabited, but sustainable planet in the same system.

The pocket monsters decided not to question what they barely escaped from, and take their new home as a blessing. But they quickly realize what sacrifices they would have to make for their new homeland.

Arceus looked through the Human’s history and saw that though they usually have good intentions, in action they have shown that they’re not the best at sharing. Arceus knew that having two sentient species on one world would only lead to more war. They had one very costly decision to make in order to protect both themselves and the humans that had put them up out of the kindness of their hearts.

Everywhere, Pokemon began to approach the humans; each saying the same thing.

“We Pokemon will be ready to help humans always. But, if you bare your sword to bring harm upon us, with claws and fangs, we will exact a toll. From your kind we will take our toll, for it must be done to guard ourselves, and for it, I apologize.”

To that, the humans replied:
“Why, oh creature from the stars, do you tell us this? You speak as though we will never communicate again.”

With that, the Pokemon said nothing. They turned their heads and went into the tall grass and lakes. Never to be heard speaking a language that could be understood by humans again. Pokemon never revealed the secret to their advanced technology, for fear that it was the reason the Shadows invaded in the first place. To spare their new comrades their fate, they took on the roles of simple animals.

Over the years, humans simply forgot how intelligent the Pokemon originally were, but they never forgot all the wonderful stories they told of life on their old world. Eventually, they adopted their tales as their own mythology and their gods as their own. This only strengthened the bond the two species shared.

But Pokemon still had concerns that they would be needed as more than just the beasts of the land. An organization was created in secret by pokemon who swore to always remain wild. They used the technology they saved from their home world and used it to create hidden bases and even cities disguised as impassable mountain ranges or in the deepest recesses of lakes and oceans.

They called themselves Arceus’ Defence Force, or ADF for short. In short, their job was to protect Earth from any and all internal or external threats that the humans couldn’t handle, but kept it in secret. Recently though, they’ve been concerned with a great threat coming from the humans themselves; Shadow Pokemon. Humans somehow got their hands on samples of the Shadows and infected certain pokemon with them. True, it made them strong, but they lost their humanity in exchange. The ADF made it their top priority to create a Shadow “Vaccine”. They created a process in which Shadows could be expelled from living beings if they’ve been hit with a new attack they’ve developed called “Purge”. [Type: Always STAB. Category: Status/Special. Attack: -- Accuracy: 40] The last word was that all Pokemon had built up an immunity since the move’s development, but since the tale of the invasion was passed on generation to generation, many are still vigilant in guarding against the Shadows… For the Humans’ sake.

Plot.

Another perfect day in Lilycove; sun was shining, Wingulls lazily glided on the thermals and Wailmers frolicked in the bay. Gyms and contest halls were closed and trainers all over the world were taking the day off. A meteor shower was expected later that night and everyone was in anticipation. Even wild pokemon appeared to be getting into the perfect spot to watch the great event.

A 13 year old trainer with a Pikachu perched on his shoulder reclined on the beach. Still afternoon, but the stars were already falling, but only visible in a different time zone. Unova was already watching the spectacle, and he boy couldn’t help but feel a bit cheated since he just came from Unova to compete in the Hoenn Frontier.

Pikachu’s ears perked up and the thunder mouse jumped off the boy’s shoulder. It sparked electricity from its cheeks as it stared into the distant sky. The boy looked into that direction too, but saw nothing. All of a sudden, red spilled into the clear blue sky coming towards them. It wasn’t like the orange-red of sunset, but more like the crimson of blood. An object streamed across the sky, straight at the young trainer. His partner acted quickly and used its Iron Tail to knock the meteor from striking the boy.

“Thanks Pikachu! What is that?” the boy said as he approached the smoldering rock. The Pikachu began tugging at his pant leg, begging him not to go close. All of a sudden, black smoke-like energy poured from the rock. The electric mouse flinched, expecting to be engulfed by the excreted beings. But he wasn’t. His partner was. The trainer’s eyes, usually so bright and full of optimism, were now dark red and filled with nothing but contempt. He grabbed the Pikachu by the ear.

“It took us a long time to find you once again, Pocket Monster.” He chuckled darkly.

“Piiikaa [But… You have our homeworld! What else do you want?!]” Pikachu squeaked in pain as the boy’s grip increased.

“Did you really think beings such as the Shadows would have requirement of simple territory?!” He threw the electric mouse further up the beach and shouted after him “Go to your masters! Give them fair warning that the Shadows have come!”
The scene pauses as a Mienfoo clicked on the remote in her hand.

“Mieien Fuu [Scenes like this have appeared all over the planet, captain.]” she spoke with great concern.

An Alakazam slumped over the table that projected the scene as a hologram. He thought out his plan carefully.

“Alazam kazam [Alert the high council-- If I’m right, our time as simple-minded beasts is drawing to a close.]”

[4 hours later]

“Attention all ADF members: After delegations between both the High Council and the Hall of Origin Assembly, emergency protocol Omega has been authorized. The following changes have been put into effect;

“Firstly; In order to ensure the safety of both humans and Pokemon, the Language Barrier Curse has been terminated. Fully expect any humans you come in contact with to react erratically to any communications.

“Secondly, the Four Move Set Limiter has been eradicated in order to ensure full battle efficiency.

“Lastly, all AFD members must learn Purge and all ADF bases must be accessible to humans. That is all.”

Speakers echoed this message through every ADF base and communicator. Several dozen humans had already been rescued before they became exposed to the Shadows, but there have been some strange cases. Certain humans that already had been possessed by a Shadow were trainers. Their pokemon partners became so desperate to get their human back they attempted using Purge on them. Not all humans survived this as when the Shadow left their body, it took their soul with them. But some humans had souls hardened enough by their bond with their pokemon, that not only did they survive, but they retained the power given to them by the Shadows.

These strange beings could not be called humans anymore, instead they’re affectionately called Silhouettes, or Sils for short. Sils have abilities similar to Pokemon, but in more variety per person. But they’re not completely trusted by all ADF members. They are most likely to turn into Shadows themselves.

Playable Characters:

Pokemon:
ADF Soldier: You have all the resources of the Arceus’ Defence Force behind you, meaning weapons, communications and back up. But this also means you have restraints such as the chain of command and the fact that your top priority is the humans’ safety, which can be a burden in combat.

Vigilante: Did you have nothing to do with the ADF before the skies turned red, or are you a pokemon whose trainer was taken away by the Shadows. Either way, you act outside of the ADF without their resources, but without their commands to slow you down. Are you seeking revenge, justice or do you just want your friends back?

Silhouette: A being that was once human, but you can’t say that anymore. You were once trainers rescued by a pokemon you were connected with who dared to use Purge despite the risks. In the last 3 days in the meteor shower, you’ve had your whole world turned upside-down. Pokemon began to speak and you yourself have undergone a change. Your skin, hair, or eye colour may have undergone a severe change, or not. The one common change all Sils have, is that there is a pattern on them somewhere that resembles a Star. You always work with the pokemon that saved you. For some reason, you lose control over your powers when they’re not around.

Humans: You’re a simple human, maybe even a trainer. Though you have no actual ‘powers’ like the Sils, you do have skills of your own. Even with your pokemon speaking the same language as you, they still follow your commands as they did before. Some ADF officers think that teams like that are actually best in some situations. You are the more trusted than the Sils and have access to the advanced weapons they have.

Info on the Shadows

Since most of the actual files of the Shadows were destroyed millennia ago when pokemon came to Earth, the only information we have on our enemies is stories that passed down from grandparents to children.

What we do know, Shadows can only be harmed by direct sunlight, which is why they spread the red pigments into the atmosphere to block out the sun as they land in their meteors. Shadows appear to have a hive-mind, they have freely admitted they all follow under a single being. They have referred to their leader simply known as The Darkness. Any humans possessed by a Shadow have their eyes changed to a dark red, much like the sky and they refer to themselves in plural (We, Us etc) and any human possess is called a Darkling.

Important NPCs:

Arceus: Indirectly commands the ADF, no one but the High Council can meet with him or the other gods. He leads the council known as the Hall of Origin Assembly, or HOA for short.

Commander Mewtwo: He directly leads the ADF and meets with the HOA in times of crisis. He is banned from directly fighting in normal situations though, as years of training have left him so strong he will destroy an entire city if he attacks.

General Bladerunner [Blade for short]: A Bisharp that lost his trainer years ago to the original Shadow outbreak by Team Snaggem. He swore a personal vendetta against the Shadows since that day, and he’s not too trusting of Sils either. He’s the general that will command your sector of the ADF.

Captain Digger: A Garchomp that remained wild throughout his whole life. He always knew the kindness in peoples’ hearts and has grown strong and trustworthy because of this. While a previous battle has left his left eye damaged, he is reliable in a fight.

Rogue Trika: A raichu and the unofficial leader of the vigilante movement. She hates the ADF and finds that their commitment to the humans is getting into the way of Pokemon and their self-preservation as a species.

Ok guys, let’s light this fire!

Silhouette:
Name: Melody “Mel” McCloud
Codename: Decibel
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Description: She is about 5’8 and weighing around 137 lbs and she’s surprisingly pale for a persona who spent as much time outdoors as she did [maybe because she’s a night-person?]. Melody’s most prominent feature is her eyes; as her left is bright green, and her right is bright blue and her Sil symbol is a black star over her right eye. Mel is wearing the same clothes she wore since the beginning of the Red Skies. Her typical outfit is her usual white toque with a light blue pokeball symbol on the front. This hat covers her neck-length hair, once was black with dyed blue bangs, but now her bangs follow the same colour pattern as her eyes; left is green, right is blue. She is almost never seen without her silver iPod on her shoulder and her wireless black headphones around her neck. She wears a short sleeved black jacket with blue trim on the sleeves, and the jacket is only half-length on her torso; purely for fashion, not warmth. On the breast of her jacket is her symbol from the days she used to be a Hoenn Frontier Brain. The symbol resembles a musical note mixed with a heart, and the same symbol is on the white t-shirt she wears under her jacket. She’s wearing her usual blue-jean shorts and black runners. Her most prized article of clothing though, is a pair of black leather spiked bands she wears on her wrists, as they’re a present from her boyfriend.

Personality: Melody lives life to her own beat, but what that beat is, only she knows. Her life was harder than she’s willing to admit, but she’s always remained determined. Her creativity is evident in both her music, and how she used to battle at her Facility. She used to teach her pokemon to combine their attacks in the way that a contest battler would; not only to be powerful but to look amazing. She may appear happy-go-luck, but for those that know her, they know she is passionate about defeating injustice. Her greatest pleasure in life was performing; not because it made her famous, but because it made other people happy. Whenever she made someone else smile, she felt happy as well. She’s a little reckless, but only because she has a high tolerance to both physical and emotional pain. The only thing that can really make her angry is seeing someone made to cry by another’s actions. But she’ll rarely get angry if a wrong-doing is against her. Her biggest fear is loneliness, seeing as how she was lonely for most of her life.

History: Melody’s life started out in the easy-going Eterna City. But, it wasn’t long before she had a younger sister named Harmony; she only spent fifteen minutes as an only child. She tried to get along with her twin as best she could, but for some reason Harmony only ever wanted to show Melody up. Harmony quickly over-shadowed Mel in school when her grades made her the honour roll throughout most of grade school. Melody had a hard time finding friends because Harmony secretly spread rumours about her sister. Melody became disheartened and began to question if she would ever amount to anything. One Halloween night, Harmony and her usual group of friends made a deal with Melody that they would find her some friends if she went into the haunted Old Chateau. Melody agreed and entered the old house, only to be locked inside by Harmony’s friends. Melody broke down crying on the floor when she heard laughter from behind the door. She was scared… but she wasn’t as alone as she thought. The ghosts of the Old Chateau were actually Ghost-type pokemon. A young Rotom found the 7-year old crying in the main hall and tried to comfort her. It dried Melody’s tears and led her into the Banquet Hall. The Ghost pokemon were having their own Halloween party, and they invited her to join them. Before she could say no, the Rotom pushed her onto the dance floor with the rest of them. It was the first time in her life that Melody felt truly happy.

For the next three years, everyday after school and before dinner, Melody spent her time at the Old Chateau. Each time she went there, she brought new and different toys to share with her Ghost-pals. The Rotom that came to help her that Halloween night made a special bond with Mel; it was always waiting for her to arrive and it always saw her out the door. She named that Rotom CD because ‘she’ always played with any music player Melody brought. Together with her pokemon friends, Melody gained enough confidence in herself to try to become a musician, and she practiced and practiced both guitar and keyboards until she became a local rock star. The Ghost pokemon taught her what they refused to teach her in class; pokemon abusing humans. Organizations like Team Rocket had done horrendous things to pokemon in the past. Learning about this, Melody resolved to become such a strong trainer that she could do the most she could to protect pokemon all over. She vowed to set out on her pokemon journey with one of her Ghost friends as her starter.

On her 10th birthday, Mel made good on her vow; when her parents gave the twins their first pokeballs, Mel rushed out the door and into the forest and to the Old Chateau. Turns out, the Ghosts had made a going away party, but they were secretly competing with each other for the position of Mel’s first pokemon. Melody shifted through the mob of Ghost pokemon and found CD. She wasn’t the strongest, but CD was the first friend Mel ever made. Together, the two conquered each of the region’s Leagues, nearly becoming Champions of Sinnoh. Along the way, Melody had amassed a loyal pokemon team; Fos the Aerodactyl, Candy the Gorebyss, Topper the Parasect, Blast the Magmotar, Dice the Weavile, and many more. Finally, at the age of 16, she beat out her twin sister and earned the title of Frontier Brain.

Taking a well-deserved day off from her tireless work as Rock Maiden, Melody and CD had sent the rest of their team on vacation for the week, and they waited patiently for the meteor shower. It would be hard to see the shooting stars from the covered city of Sootopolis, but she was planning on enjoying it anyway. She lay stretched out on the roof of the Battle Stage, waiting for her boyfriend to arrive so they could watch it together. CD began to act strangely though; she began shooting out sparks uncontrollably. This was usually only something that she did when she was anxious or afraid. All of a sudden, the sky visible through the opening in the stone ceiling turned blood red. A meteor came and crashed right beside Mel on the roof. The roof cracked underneath Mel and she fell on top of the meteor. She was intoxicated by the horde of Shadows pouring out of the rock until she absorbed all of them. CD shuddered seeing her dearest friend’s aura so dark. She began to tear up and before she could even think about abandoning Melody, she rushed down to the Stage and plunged the Purge attack straight into her side. Shadows poured from her mouth, squealing that they lost a body. As this happened, colour poured into Mel’s hair that made her bangs resemble her eyes and a black star appeared over her blue eye. It wasn’t long after that the two were hunted down by Darklings. If it wasn’t for an ADF pick-up in the form of a Gyarados, they would have been killed.

Powers: Mel’s powers are sound-based. If she claps while using her powers, she sends out a shockwave. If she shrieks or sings, she sends out a sonic blast out of her mouth.

Alliance: ADF

Pokemon Partner:

Name: CD
Age: By her species’ standards, 18
Species: Rotom
Bio: CD was raised with contempt for humans after her parents had taught her about humans that had once abused them. She always glared as anyone who passed by the windows of the Old Chateau, especially children. She knew that they would eventually grow up to be trainers and abuse other Pokemon. One Halloween, she heard the door of the main hall slam shut. She saw it as an opportunity to scare the living daylights out of the fool who dared to trespass. Instead of a mischievous intruder, she found a crying child, no older than she was. For the first time, she saw what humans really were; they were not so different than Pokemon. She felt sympathy for Melody, and wanted to make up for all the nasty things she had done to other humans in the past, so she wanted to become friends. CD was the one who taught Mel the principals of music, trained her in the art of self-confidence and about the art of Pokemon battles. The two were inseparable because they taught each other how to be truly happy. Still, CD remains as mischievous as they come, in layman’s terms, she has an impish nature. She’s sarcastic, cunning and more than a little devious. She likes to mock her opponents in battle because she knew that anger made one slip up. She’s become a little more conscientious since joining Mel, and Fos has done his best to try and straighten her out. She doesn’t care about most things; she just goofs off and looks for her next great gig. Though she doesn’t share Mel’s principle of ‘others’ happiness makes me happy’, she does enjoy a prank more if she’s not the only one laughing.

Kanto Northern Mountain Range:
Hidden Pokemon City: Chartreuse City
3 days since impact

“Keeee! Gasp Gahhh!” Melody cried in suppressed pain.

“Calm down, I’m already finished taking blood.” A shiny Audino nurse said as she placed a vial of blood into a spectral-analyzer. The small pink bunny rolled her eyes and lead Mel out of the infirmary. “Next Sil, please enter for your physical.”

Mel met up with CD again, rubbing the area where the needle entered. She smiled sheepishly and tore the band-aid off. She looked up into the skies and saw the tops of huge buildings she never knew Pokemon had built. Beyond their peaks was an energy shield keeping the Shadows from finding them and kept any hostiles out. The city looked just like a certain city in Unova that Melody had heard of once. If the time had been any other, she would have been trying to get the opportunity to do a show here, but now… She was focused on saving the earth. She turned back to her partner and tried to lighten the mood.

“Why do they hafta take blood from every Silhouette anyway?” Melody complained as she and her plasma Ghost partner made their way back to their base.

“Digger told me they’re looking to see how much of a change Sils have gone through from being humans, so they require as many DNA samples as possible.” CD spoke with a nervous look on her face. Her electric aura began pulsating. “Plus too, they needed to do physicals on new ADF affiliates.”

Melody stopped in her tracks and picked CD up so she could look her straight in the eye.

“Copper Drive, I know you. What’re you so nervous about?” Melody said with strange seriousness. CD flinched and averted Mel’s gaze. She never liked it when Mel used her full name.

“I-… It’s… My grandparents told me stories about what happened on our home-world. The Shadows tore everything apart. Entire species of Pokemon went extinct in just a day. I’m scared. You should be too.”

Melody smirked and placed CD on her shoulder. “C’mon, you know me—I’m too foolhardy to be afraid. Besides, Heaven isn’t the place you go when you die-” Melody’s pace increased into a sprint towards their base.

“It’s the moment you feel most alive!” CD finished off. That was the way they lived their lives, always trying to feel Heaven for as long as they could, even at the risk of their lives.

But even with that thought in mind, Melody was hiding a crease of worry on her face. Fos and the others on her team, her boyfriend, her family—were they ok? Were they alive? Finding that out was what kept her going through this time. Though in the 72 hours since, she began to realize the answer was one she wouldn’t like.

[ADF Chartreuse City Base]

“Bladerunner, I’m not discussing this anymore; I’m keeping the Silhouettes on! You heard the commander; they’re an asset.” Digger overshadowed the Bisharp in size, but Blade was not phased.

“Those damned Sils are a liability. Any moment they could turn full Darkling and destroy us all.” Melody walked in on their conversation. Blade took his leave, walking right past Mel. She could just barely hear him whisper “I’m watching you, Decibel.”

Melody wasn’t scared so much as she was disheartened. She lost her usual cocky grin and slumped down onto a bench next to the holo-tablet.

“So, Cap, any news outta intelligence about what these bozos are after?” CD chirped to snap both Digger and Mel out of their funks. The Garchomp activated the holo-tablet and showed a recorded surveillance from Lilycove back in Hoenn.

The scene was a meteor and shadows escaping into a trainer with a pikachu.

“From this scene and the Pikachu’s witness account, we can determine that the Shadows are not looking to add territory to their empire.” Digger activated a new video from the archive.

The scene was a coordinator in a green bandana and she was being chased by Darklings. She was about to fall off a cliff when a Darkling caught her and saved her life.

“This scene and many others infer that the Shadows are not trying to eradicate the human species.”

A new scene depicted what looked like a Pokemon doctor with close-set eyes becoming a Darkling and attacking his own Sudowoodo.

“That Sudowoodo escaped, and from his medical reports, the attacks he sustained were intended as non-lethal. Other than that, we’re not sure what they’re planning.”

Melody took a report on the Shadows and went over what was known. CD was reading the file from Mel’s shoulder. There were only three pages; one on Shadow’s biology, one on the Darklings and only half a page on a theoretical being known as The Darkness.

“So… The Darkness is their leader? What does it look like?” Melody asked as the only information on it was a statement by a Shadow Darkling.

“No one knows anything about it. We don’t even know if it is a physical being. Intelligence figures that the Shadows refer to their hive mind as their leader.” Digger replied to non-chalently as he dug meat out of his teeth with his claw.

“Great. So that eliminates the option of taking out their leader and calling it a day.” CD grumbled “What is our mission de jour any-who?”

“We’ll go over the details once the rest of the team gets here.” Digger said as he went through the personnel files. “But right now, we know that there’s a camp of survivors back in Cerulean city. It’s a simple search and rescue operation... And we have some news on domestic threats to go over. A vigilante known as Trika has been causing trouble out west.”

[Somewhere in Ilex Forest]

A female Raichu climbed onto a high branch. She stared out onto her audience. A crowd of both pure-wild and Pokemon that had lost their trainers in the invasion awaited her speech.

“My friends, we’ve all lost something dear in the past three days; some of us have lost homes, other have lost their strength, while still others have lost friends. The High Council thinks they know what’s best for all of us, while they sit on their high-horses, completely cut-off from the real world!”

The crowd became ravenous, booing at the mention of the High Council. Some Pokemon began shouting their reasons for being here.

“Shadows killed my trainer!”
“A Darkling cut off my arm; now I only have three left!”
“I want my Trainer back! Whaaaaaaa!”

Trika put her paws up to ask for silence. The mob calmed down. “Yes, we’ve all lost something precious. But we can’t just sit by on our haunches and let those Arcees [slang for ADF soldiers] be the only heroes out there!”

Cheers and calls came from the mob. A Charizard in the back let out a roar that sent a Sunflora flying. Trika called for silence once again.

“Millennia ago during the first coming of Shadows, Arceus cut our losses and abandoned our home world, our families and even entire species of Pokemon. Are we going to let that happen with this world too?! Are we going to leave our trainers, our partners, our loved ones, our home behind?!”

“NO!”

“Then I say this; the only way to save this world is to exterminate the Shadows and their Darkling followers!”

But through the cheers, a single tiny voice was heard.

“What about the Silhouettes?” spoke a young Cubone.

“The Silhouettes… The only way to save our trainers is for them to become Silhouettes. Purge any Darkling on sight! It’s the only way to save our human comrades! Now get out there and save the world!”

The crowd scattered, destined for areas around the world. Trika smirked and jumped down from the branch and into the hollowed tree she lived in. She turned to her mirror and brushed her fur.

‘Innocent fools. Purge kills humans if you weren’t bonded to them. Soon the Shadows will be starved out and the humans will be near-extinct. This world will be glorious once those apes are gone.’ She put her brush down and concern swept across her face. ‘Hm, but those Sils are trouble too. No matter, we’ll out number them; they won’t get the chance to claim rule of this world.’

[Vigilantes should start their post in some corner of the world, most likely hunting down Darklings and eating-I mean Purging them. ADF-affiliates should be making their way to the Chartreuse Base and awaiting Digger’s briefing… and maybe punching Blade in the face along the way there. All Sils have to have blood drawn and their physicals done first.]

Arrogance
The Ironsights raised up, and swayed about before centering on a hunched over human. The man didn't realize that he was being aimed at by a gunman with deadly accuracy, not even his beady red eyes could detect those who were well hidden. Slowly the sights swayed until the focused themselves upon the head of the staggering human. The gunman's fingers quivered, and then when his aim was dead on, fired.

The resounding shot echoed as and a few young bird pokemon scattered in fright. Ozymandias Tharax propped his weapon back up on the wall of the desolate Fortree City house he had been staying in. A relic of the now evacuated city.
"Third one today." The Electabuzz said to himself, a very faint smile drawing across his face. Ozymandias slumped against the same wall his gun was on, he knew that he had better get going, no reason staying in this human nature dump forever.

The Electric Type gave a sigh as he picked up his weapon, and tightened his headband. Ozymandias had been moving across the Hoenn Landscape for a few days or so now, in search of working communication. Mauville was dead, and Fortree was obviously built by incompetent fools with no concept of electricity. Rogue Trika was the one Ozymandias was trying to contact, apparently just recently she had given a rallying speech for the vigilante movement in Ilex forest. Though Ozymandias wasn't concerned with the speech or even the other vigilantes, most of them were petty whiners who missed their human oppressors. How once glorious Pokemon could become so attached to apes was beyond Ozymandias.

The Electabuzz jumped off the wooden bridges of the lifeless Fortree and began to set off on route 120. Rogue Trika was the one who convinced him to assist the Vigilantes, her ideals were close enough to Ozymandias's that he really couldn't think of any better option than to work with her. Still, like any good soldier, Ozymandias wanted orders, "Take out this Arcee base." or "Eliminate these Darklings". It was the whole reason he was even bothering to try and contact her.

Gun in hand, Ozymandias continued down Route 120, ready to kill anything, Human, ADF, Sil, or Darkling that got in his way...

Alvion Region it is!
"Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep!" The alarm clock rang in Falkens ear as the time hit eight thirty A.M.
"Alright, I'm up... Another day, another liberation... Yeesh." Falken yawned, replying to his Alarm clock sarcasticly as got out of bed,stretched and then flaped his dented wings.
Moments later the alarm went off again. All Falken did was sigh as he turned it off, seconds later he turned around.
"Great, where's my suit... There." He sighed as he started puting the Armor on.
After about six minutes passed and he finished set up.
"Alright Arceus. ADF-01 Falken ready for deployment... Can't even take myself seriously." Falken snickered as he perched himself on his window of his stationed area.
After spreading his wings, he leaped off the window and headed towards route 121. About ten minutes later he started checking the ground; 'Shadow, Shadow, eh, pichu... Crap! Pichu!' Falken thought as he scanned overhead to see a young Pichu being cornered by two shadows. Without hesitating, Falken Slammed to the ground and covered the helpless pichu. He quickle got back to his feet and stared down the two attacking aliens.
"So, ya'll think a baby's easy prey? Huh? Easy this you formless scum!" He shouted as he unleashed his UV laser on the two attackers, Killing them instantly.
"What? What's going on?" The pichu squeaked as Falken turned around to see if the little pokemon was alright.
"Shadows. Come with me... I get you to base. We need soldiers more than ever, are you willing to help us?" Falken said as he got lower for the baby to get on.
"Okay." The pichu squeaked as he climbed onto Falken's Armor.
'That's at least one saved from shadows... Why did they come here again?' Falken wondered as he took off back to the ADF base.
During the time, the little mouse almost fell of about twenty times. Six minutes later, the two made it to the base, Falken's room to be exact.
"Stay here, I'll be back soon." Falken told the Pichu just before executing his armour's scramjets and took off.
'Okay, now for some music.' Falken thought to himself as he rounded the corner to route 120 and turned on the song "Zero".
"Should have checked earlier... FAEB? Check... UV laser... nintey five precent." Falken said as he looked up at the demonic looking sky.
Seconds later, he flew into the rain. Attempting to avoid rusting on him or his armor, he landed and took shelter in the scorched slab. There he noticed a group of young pokemon, mainly Seedot, hidden in a corner and shaking in fear.
"Hey, It's okay... I'm not bad." Falken said reassuringly as a little seedot walked towards him hesitantly.
"You a good guy? Can you help me and my brothers?" The Seedot said in a babyish voice.
"Whats wrong?"
"A Spooky thing jumped into our mama, we ran away because she attacked us... Can you help us get her back?" the little pokemon said starting to cry.
"Don't worry. I'll save your mom. You kids stay here, I'll be back." Falken said as he turned around and started preparing to take off.

Rhiannon woke when the sun's rays shone on her face. It was something she'd done when she'd been human, and even in the three days since the world had gone to hell, she hadn't stopped doing it. Darcy was asleep by her side, his tough skin moving as he breathed. She looked around, missing the familar sights of her other Pokemon. She missed them all dearly, even though it had been three days since she'd sent them to Iris.

She could picture them in her mind as they normally were in the morning. Azel, her Haxorus, would have the sun gleaming off his scales as he watched the sunrise, loving the heat that it gave to his body. Zoey would have gone and hidden somewhere in the shadows, glaring at the light that the sun brought. She was a dark type, a Hydreigon, so that was expected really. Markl (Garchomp) and Vanira (Salamence) would still be curled up together somewhere, drinking in each other's warmth. And young Ryu would have been bouncing up and down, ready to start the day. She was such an excitable young Dratini.

Sighing, Rhiannon roughly shook Darcy, waking him up. He flexed, like a cat would, and opened his wings to absorb the heat from the sunlight. Like Azel, he loved the sun.

"Come on now." She said, trying to drag him to his feet. "I have to go and see that Audino Nurse for a blood sample."

Grumbling slightly, the Druddigon followed the Sil to the infimary. The purple and cream hearing Pokemon glanced out at them, seeming slightly shocked.

"You're up early." She commented. "Come in."

Rhiannon took a seat while the Audino pulled out a needle, and checked a list. "You're Cyanide right?" She questioned, and Rhiannon smiling, showing her long fangs. The Audino didn't flinch, which made Rhiannon's face fall. "A poison type Sil? Of course you are... now hold still."

Needles had never bothered Rhiannon, but Darcy still kept a close eye on the Audino. He was still a little unsure about the 'no more no speaking to humans' rule, and was pretty quiet. Or maybe he was just sleepy. He normaly was pretty irratable in the morning.

With the blood sample taken, Rhiannon thanked the Audino (although, she just took her blood so it was only really out of being polite) with another creepy smile, before taking her leave.

She wandered around Chartreuse for a while, marveling at it's respemblence to a Unovan City. She could see the shimmer of the protective shield, and beyond that, she could see the blood red of the sky. As she walked, she came across a Beedrill, who spotted the black star on her left hand. Angrily, it jabbed one of it's needles towards her, only to retreat when Darcy hissed at him.

"Do the world a favour and go throw yourself off a cliff!" It snarled at her, before fleeing from Darcy's murderous gaze.

"I cannot believe some of the Pokemon here..." He said in a gravelly sort of tone. "You're lucky to be alive, you're stronger than any human and yet... and yet they hate you."

Rhiannon sighed. "Yeah, but people do get kind of freaked out about new things you know? It happened all the time before all this. Why should it stop now?"

"Yes, that's true but it takes people ages for them to accept these new things sometimes. What if they can't accept you? What if they decide you're too dangerous to life?"

"Then I run."

"You mean we."

"No, I. No point in you being exiled for the rest of your life for me."

Darcy started to protest some more, but she ignored him and walked into the room where Digger was going to give them a talking to. Blade was leaving the room at that time, and he too glared at her, his eyes murderous, but most of the Sil's were used to him now, and she just ignored him, smiling her creepy, fanged smile. He knew she was a poison type though, and being a steel type he wasn't too fazed.

Inside, Decibel and CD, a fellow Sil and her bonded Rotom were sitting there. She sat down next to them, and nodded to the two of them, before paying attention to Digger.

He was showing that it was clear the Shadows had no intention to kill Pokemon nor humans, but other than that there was no clue to what they might be after. Darcy, however, had an idea.

"They may not be trying to kill us," He said, gaining their attention. "But there are fates worse than death remember. As a punishment for escaping before, they could be trying to slowly destroy everything Pokemon hold dear, while leaving us alive to suffer through it all. But, that's just me speculating."

As to what CD, Digger and Decibel thought about that, they gave no clue as they jumped straight into discussing the misson they were to go on, and the leader of the Shadows. Rhiannon sighed and leaned back in her chair, waiting impatiently for the rest of the people who were going on this mission to arrive.

IC:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Merlin was staring at the mirror on the wall, now facing a paradox. At first glance he looked just the same as ever--the same height, the same skin colour, the same style of hair. The coat he had just put on was the same one he had been wearing (and mending and washing and such) for the last three or so years. But he looked much like a different person when he gazed at his own face. Especially the golden eyes he now had--even though he had already spent a couple of days as a Silhouette, it would still take him a long time to get used to this new appearance. That and the star mark on his forehead. Too neatly placed to be a bruise, and in too odd a spot to be a tattoo, it was a peculiarity that would clearly set him apart from normal humans from then on, even further than he had already been prior to that strange "meteor shower". He was different but yet the same.
What was more disturbing was a change in his aura. True, it changed colours slightly depending on his mood, but there was almost an alien component to it now, as if something profound had changed inside of him. The very fact that he was able to see auras so clearly now was one such change, but something told him that there was much more to it than just that. If what the ADF said about the "Sils" was true, then that meant that he wasn't even human anymore. And this change was so sudden, yet painless, and without any obvious transformation without looking in a mirror.
"Just move on with it, will ya?" a grumbling, exasperated voice sounded behind him. "Did I spend this much time staring at myself when I evolved to Alakazam? No. Quit wasting your time and get your butt over to the infirmary already."
That was another thing Merlin still had to get used to: Preston speaking in human language. No longer would he have to be left in mystery when a string of mumbled Kazams entered his ears. But he still did his typical thing whenever Preston complained like this: he smiled and didn't turn around, seeing only part of his reflection off the mirror.
"Existence is not so bound by time," Merlin responded. "Especially not in such an exact fashion. Through exploration of an infinite number of realms, it can be easily defied."
He picked up Preston's Pokeball from the tabletop, but after a moment of glancing at it, he decided to put it back. Instead he fastened the chain on his coat and walked out of the room, while Preston Wise-Guy beat him to the outside by teleporting there, unphased by all that spiritual baloney.
Preston needed not follow Merlin to the infirmary, preferring to teleport right up to where Digger and Blade were having a conversation. He didn't contribute much, just half-mindedly listening in to see if there was anything important. For a while he listened to the two dispute the issue of allowing the Sils to join the ADF. He secretly agreed with Blade on not allowing them in, but his reasons were different. Whereas Blade thought the Sils might have Darkling characteristics, Preston thought they were just incompetent, just as humans typically were. As far as he was concerned, the Pokemon could handle the Shadows just fine, without any help. When Melody and the nervous-looking Rotom accompanying her entered, he ignored them entirely and turned his back to the group.
Merlin, meanwhile, was sitting on the bed in the infirmary, his coat only half-on and the sleeve of his shirt rolled up. Calm though he usually was, he was still sensitive to the stinging prick of a needle--maybe even more sensitive than he should be. Pain was something that he could not avoid, no matter how he tried to distract himself from it.
"Soooo, Nimbus, is it?" the sugar-coated voice of the Audino nurse inquired. She had a clipboard in one paw and a syringe in the other, and an impatient yet playful air about her (which appeared as a bright orange aura according to "Nimbus"). "I know you're waiting to have your fun out there, but first I need a little something from you. Think happy thoughts..."
The smile and the little giggle she added afterward did not ease the pain of the needle. A couple of times he squirmed about so much that the needle either came out or dug itself further in, making it hurt even more. His eyes were full of tears by the time the procedure was finished, and he left the room wiping them away, careful not to let his green eyeshadow smear.
"...It's a simple search and rescue operation," Digger was saying when Merlin arrived at the meeting. "And we have some news on domestic threats to go over. A vigilante known as Trika has been causing trouble out west.”
After catching Preston's eye, Merlin took a seat right next to Rhiannon--apparently one of his fellow Sils, judging by the fact that she had fangs. Otherwise she looked very much like a businesswoman, with a Druddigon as her partner. Merlin kept looking between her and Blade, who was eyeing him with scrutiny. But since he had been dealing with an Alakazam with a superiority complex for the past year or so, he wasn't worried so much about what Blade thought about him.
At the end of Digger's little introduction, Preston spoke up, as if just for the heck of it.
"On the note of this 'Darkness'," he proposed, "looking more closely at how the Shadows choose and exploit their 'prey' can provide some clues. Having just one video of such an encounter will just not suffice."
One look at Preston told Merlin that he didn't really care about the mission, at least not yet anyway.
Melody McCloud
Mel watched as the other Sils entered the tent. Digger reached for his clipboard and cleared his throat to gain everyone's attention.
"Ok folks, here's the deal. The fate of the world depends on us rescuing as many as we can into the protected cities across the world... But that's old news. Our mission today; Cerulean. Satelite imagery has picked up approximately two dozen survivors hiding in the caves just west of the city."
"Hang on a second, isn't that where the commander is? Those guys should be safe there!" CD chimed in. Digger shot her a glare and the plasma ghost just stuck her tongue out at him.
Digger rubbed his injured eye and sighed. "Under normal circumstances yes, they would be safe. But the Commander was at a HOA meeting at the time, the humans are trapped in the caves, and the Commander can't get into the area without hurting them."
Digger activated his holo-tablet and a 3D image of the City was laid out. Thermal images showed humans crowded in the early areas of the caves usually saved for the Champion. The images also showed about a hundred Darklings patroling the area.
"Your job is to run interference for Captain Wake and his team to get in, get the survivors and get the heck out of there. We'll drop you guys off at Mt. Moon, but from there you guys are on your own. Try to keep any casualties to a minimum please. We can still figure out how to save the Darklings."
Melody and CD took that as a dismissal and went to leave the base, but were confronted by Blade at the door. He glared at every Sil in the room. Mel smirked in his face.
"Come to wish us good luck? Aw, you're so sweet~" she chirped. She then shoved him aside as a way of saying she wasn't afraid of him. As Mel walked to the transport zone, CD looked back at Blade and stuck her tongue out.
"Please, I really don't want to fight."
Angie-Scarlet's hands were trembling as she tried her best to grip her throwing syringes without pity. Her hands were behind her back, as she did not want to make it seem like she was going to attack the Shadow which was threatening her. At the very least, she wanted to protect her sense of dignity.
"Why hesitate, precious? We've got all the time in the world! Plenty of time for me to devour you and the rest of you scumbags at the ADF! the Shadow said as it slowly licked its lips. Angie-Scarlet, having nerves of steel, was not disgusted by this impudent gesture. Deciding to break the tension, she spoke.
"*sigh* Do I look that irresistible to you? I suppose that can't be helped then!" she said sarcastically (or perhaps coquettishly), accompanied by a cutesy wink.
"I don't really understand what you have against the ADF, but that doesn't necessarily mean I agree with everything they say. Infact, my only purpose for the ADF is to use it to further extend my ideals! I don't really care what you think; to be honest, I think that only makes you an individual. I'm not sure, what you're doing is wrong, but..." she hid behind her large set of horn-jaws, which displayed a beige colored crescent moon accompanied by three stars.
"I will defend myself, regardless of what you think!"
"Hyeheheh! I like your attitude, missy. PERISH!" And so, the Shadow leaped towards Angie-Scarlet, therefore starting their ferocious tango. Unfortunately, for the unsuspecting Shadow, this tango would be ended shortly and flawlessly.
The Shadow kept relentlessly slashing at Angie-Scarlet, while she was light on her feet, dodging every move while using Stockpile whenever there was an opening. It wasn't that she valued her safety, and simply didn't want to hurt herself; this was her way of psyching out her opponent, and planting a surprise attack!
"My, aren't you a feisty pretty. Hurry up and let me hit you already!"[I/] a couple of more dodges, then, she followed up with a surprisingly elegant Spit Up. Angie-Scarlet hurled a giant ball of stored energy towards her opponent. Of course, this hit head on, stunning the Shadow! But apparently, this time was not enough. When she tried to fire an Ice Beam at the Shadow, he was able to swiftly dodge and step to the left. Exactly where she wanted him.
Nyehehe! Nice try, little missy, but you're going to have to try harder if-" the Shadow proceeded to suddenly limp and fall over. Felling a pang in his leg, he removed what looked like a....syringe?
"Gah......heh, not bad. But it's going to take a lot more than that!"
"Oh, I wonder about that, really."
Her tone deepened as she leaned in closer to the Shadow's face. She then gave “it” a swift kick to the groin and leaped back, waiting for the flurry of syringes in the sky to consume it.
“Perhaps if you had jumped backward then followed with a hand-spring, this battle might’ve ended better for you. Of course, that’s not in your capability. So it probably would’ve been better to just listen to the poor damsel and backed off while you have the chance."
Her pupils were reduced to mere slits. She literally spread a demonic air about her. But she wasn't a demon. She had actually intended for the Ice Beam to miss. In fact, she never intended to hurt her opponent in the first place. That would've been most cruel of her. Of course, the action she committed was of close-to-equal sin, it actually had a purpose. It wasn't some pointless fighting. She pulled out a peculiar device, and she proceeded to speak into it.
"Yo. This is Angie-Scarlet here. I repeat. This is Angie-Scarlet here. I have a Shadow problem down here. I need someone to pick him up.”
”Understood. We’ll be sending General Blademast-“
“NO! It would be optimal if you would send someone else. I’m.…pretty sure he’s already busy as it is.” As much as Angie-Scarlet needed help, that bane of a general didn’t really catch her interest.
“…Very well then. I’ll see to it that this Shadow is picked up.”
“Thank you. Now, if you’ll excuse me.” With the press of a button, the device folded up, and she slipped it into her pocket.
“Geez, you don’t need to waste my time like that…oh well, I guess I have to hurry then.” she forcefully spun on her heels, but not until she was stopped by a strange silhouette from above, leaping from building to building. Good thing she took Pokemon Analogy back in Lacunosa; the shadow above was unmistakably that of a female Raichu. Do to the recent hype about Vigilantes, she had a pretty good guess about who that was.
"*sigh* Trika, huh?" Turning on her cute persona, she turned on the alley route to Chartreuse Base.
[OOC]
It's about time this got revived. I'm surprised that even though KillerSquirtle had enough time to RP, she didn't have enough to add me to the list? I've already been excepted. -.-
---------------------------------------------
Just to clarify, I need to add another bit:
[IC]
Shadows...exactly what are they? All Angie-Scarlet knew was that they were genderless beings of unknown origin; possibly from the former home of Pokemon, the moon. Though, Angie was raised in Lacunosa. She had never been to the moon; she had only seen it in the night sky, since the sky in Lacunosa wasn't infected with light pollution. Everything was orderly to an extreme degree. Everyone had pretty much the exact same house, took the exact same route, and went to bed at practically the exact same time. What was the moon like? Did shadows originate from the moon as well? But, back there....that was definitely the body of a human, but, it simply couldn't have been. Shadows by themselves are nothing more than shadows. A shadow possesses the ability to assimilate the host mind. By itself, a shadow is nothing but a shadow. Either way, there's absolutely no a shadow can become a human..........right?
"Gah, friggin' Darkling.....why'd you have to waste my time like that?"
[OOC]
Reflecting a bit on Shadows, and fixing my contradiction in the first part.
Hello Kitty =/= Cat
Hinata stood facing the lapping waves of Slateport’s ocean, and thought about her situation. She had heard that the leader of non-ADFs was holding a meeting in Johto, but unless she could fly or teleport, there was no way that she could travel that far in time. So the Grovyle stayed in Hoenn, and continued searching for her trainer, whom she thought was still in Hoenn and had at least part of her mind. Her trainer’s other Pokemon had dispersed and did not look for their caretaker, unlike loyal Hinata. Staying where her trainer had attacked her was not the best choice with the Darklings wandering around, but at least she could defend herself.
Attacking one of the Darklings was not a good choice if Hinata stayed here, for the Darkling that she attacked could be her own trainer, and she would feel very guilty about this. Still she had heard no word from the Arcees, as many who did not like them called the ADF, but she trusted in them, more than the average Pokemon did. Many Darklings had come to attack here in the past three days, but she had fended all of them off, but sustained a few injuries. These were one of the reasons that leaving here was going to be hard – a twisted right ankle and a large cut on her left. She had tried Giga Drain on a few nearby plants, but all it did was refresh her and leave signs of recent inhabitation.
Look what I found! said an excited voice from behind Hinata. A swirling darkness which had the form of blob was speaking to the Grovyle, and some had done in the past.
“Go away, please. I might have to kill you if you bother me anymore, so please leave me alone,” Hinata said politely, but the Darkling would not. The Wood Gecko Pokemon sighed inwardly, but no motion of her body was made besides a slight slumping of the shoulders. I guess I have to take care of it before a weaker Pokemon comes along, thought Hinata, who was ready to beat down the Darkling.
Aw, you’re no fun, the Darkling complained, but I know what will be fun! A fight! After having challenged the Grovyle to a battle it rushed her and whammed into Hinata’s face before she could do anything.
“Surprise attacks, darn it, but I should have expected that from these Darklings,” mumbled Hinata to herself, but if the Darkling heard, no harm done. Pushing the attacking blob of Darkling off of her face – where it had been nibbling on her nose – the Pokemon murmured, “sorry if I know you…, but I have to.” “Leaf Blade!” Her leaves on her arms started to glow, and maybe grow, then became hard, like stone but more flexible. Her arms were busy with pushing the Darkling away, but that didn’t stop her from slashing them down, kneeling down and yelling “Dragonbreath!” The blast of purple draconic energy whammed into the Darkling and it tumbled backwards intot he dust.
You’re really not fun! the Darkling pouted and then blobbed away.
