CRMT Threat List

Cometk

west side
Sticky this please.

I thought that since I was already building a threat list for my upcoming RMT, (c'mon guys lets make an archive) I'd post one here for the general use of people who want to make RMTs. The threat list is arguably one of the most important components of any RMT. Images courtesy of floatzel.net and Wiskmkr.com

So here it is, in order of each Pokémon's usage as of April 30th 2011. I'll organize UU when the official tier list is made and testing period is over.

Simply quote this post, copy and paste the spoilered part, and paste it into your own RMT. Then describe how your team handles each Pokémon listed. It doesn't have to be super-long paragraphs, sometimes all it takes is a couple words, but convey them enough so that anyone reading can understand your course of action whenever you meet each threat. Alternatively, if you're lazy, just take out Pokemon that aren't threats to your team and describe only the Pokémon that cause you the most trouble.

maybe use the party pokemon icons so the whole thing isn't stupidly large.

http://www.wishmkr.com/media/wishmkr/dex/icons/426.png

replace 426 with whatever pokemon # you want.

http://www.wishmkr.com/media/wishmkr/dex/icons/479-wash.png and http://www.wishmkr.com/media/wishmkr/dex/icons/386-speed.png for rotom-w and deo-s respectively.

if you still want to use sprites then http://www.wishmkr.com/media/wishmkr/dex/black-white/479-wash.png and http://www.wishmkr.com/media/wishmkr/dex/black-white/386-speed.png

also i highly doubt a RMT archive is worth implementing; maybe back in early/mid gen 4 (hell, even late gen 4 was alright) when there were good players who actually posted good teams, but probably not now.

im not saying that there wont be some good teams posted, i just dunno how many of those will be posted... especially stuff that deviates from standard OU teams. i wouldn't expect there to be more than 10ish and it'd probably end up being a crappier version of PO's archive, but oh well.

Something to consider adding is threats which are still significant, but aren't quite OU. I'll list a few here and state why people might list them as threats.

Azumarill: CB Aqua Jet can destroy Sand teams. It also hits much harder on Rain teams, and it is difficult to switch into Waterfall in Rain.
Zapdos: It may be outclassed by Thundurus in most cases, though it has Roost and better defenses which can make it difficult for some teams to take down.
Chansey: Has more bulk than a Bliss, though less ways to inflict damage and no Lefties. It can still be used to wall more things though.
Sigilyph: Several teams can have a hard time taking this down if it sets up. It boosts both defenses, has recovery, and is immune to status and residual damage.
Slowbro: One of the best bulky Waters this gen even if his usage doesn't reflect it. Slack Off and Regenerator make him very hard to take down.
Hitmontop: Great priority moves boosted by Technician, plus the ability to Rapid Spin. Mach Punch can be a problem for many teams which use fast sweepers.
Mamoswine: Can actually be pretty good against teams which rely on Dragons to sweep. Its EQ is also pretty hard to switch into.
Celebi: Many people underestimate his ability to sweep after Nasty Plot.
Quagsire: Can deal with many top threats including Excadrill, Reuniclus, Conkeldurr, Heatran, and more. Unaware is a great ability which can make him a threat to teams with boosters. Apparently people haven't realized he is better than Pert yet sadly.
Nidoking: Hits extremely hard with Sheer Force + LO.
Mew: Capable of doing almost anything, and doing a pretty good job at it.
Victini: Recieved low usage, though it didn't have V-Create throughout the entire period last month. Its power is comparable to Darmanitan, though it comes with the advantage of not murdering yourself with recoil.
Gorebyss: Being able to Baton Pass Shell Smash is a great niche, and when successful can lead to sweeping many teams.

This is just a few I think might be worth mentioning.

list

Yeah, I know about those but I omitted them because when it's released, I want to make a threat list for UU.

People back then sucked, we just remember them as being good. Blue Ace was terrible (HP Fire Swampert..), Kingdrom was above average, etc.. I don't really remember the others too much except that most of them were trolls.

old certified raters list said:
Blue Ace
Kingdrom
Salavoir55
Reno
Rad3n
Addie

Seriously were any of these people above average? A RMT archive would involve old 4th gen teams too of course its not like we'll ignore the previous good things. If you know of any old teams that are archive worthy by all means PM it to me because I don't feel like combing through 14,000 threads. We need help to collect all the good teams.

and it'd probably end up being a crappier version of PO's archive, but oh well.

http://pokemon-online.eu/competitive/Team-Archive_24.html

I think it would be hard to go below PO's standard of rock bottom. As you said yourself there are a few good teams hidden from '08. Even though they weren't AMAZING they're still a ton better than most of the crap PO vomits forward. I mean one of their best players is Kokoloko, and hes a joke.

Just because those pokes will be threats in UU doesn't mean they should not be included on an OU threat list since they can be used in both metagames. To make the most comprehensive threat list possible it wouldn't hurt to include them, but its your choice I guess.

True, but it's kinda redundant to add it to both tier lists. The Pokémon isn't common enough to be considered a consistent threat, and if the person making the RMT is really having trouble with the Pokémon they can just snatch its format from the other list.

But yeah, I don't really see a drawback in adding them in. It's ordered by usage so it isn't that hard. I'll implement it when I update this with UU in a while.

Maybe you should put weavile in the threat list, as it can take entire teams out on its own.
Also, I don't know if spinners and spikers like foretress and tentacruel really deserve placement on a threat list, as reall they won't be taking many teams down in themselves. But major sweepers should be on there because teams can be destroyed by them.
Meanwhile abomasnow should be on there because it can kill other weather teams by eliminating their weather and creating one that can be detrimental to the opponents strategy, where reall all the spinners can do is stop a entry hazard abuse team, which can already be easily stopped. I just don't rank them as great threats.
