Crono Saga

Finally, I've started work on Crono Saga. It's my latest sprite comic, although I don't really post them here. based on well known characters and centering around characters from the "chrono Trigger" game for Snes, the tale, well that'd be spoiling it. The comics are all reasonably short, however some may take time to load depending on your computer. I hope you enjoy reading them. I'll update the thread depending on how busy I am.

Did it on 'em
:p Awsome! I liked the lettering, and the facesets were good. It looked like you made it with the help of RM2K or RM2K3. Well, if you didn't, I guess I don't know very much :D... The sentences spoken by the characters was hard to follow. I didn't know which ones belonged to which box. Overall: 8.79/10

Pretty interesting comic there, Josh. :0 You've improved a lot since the first comic you showed me on MSN.

*chuckles at the comic* : D

I'm here like you asked. Sorry it took so long, I had to go eat.

Chapter 1- The Stone: Act 1- Why Are You In My House?
Ok, first off, using TUD isn't a good idea. Otherwise, its pretty good. You may want to think putting the emotions on the faces next to the text as well, but that is just something I would add. You may also want to add a little bit of action, like Crono hopping off of the couch or something. Once more, you don't have to do this, but its a thought.

Chapter 1- The Stone: Act 2- Turn Based Fun
This comic is kind of hard to follow, or at east for me, but I got where it is going. The spriting and action in this issue is better than in the last. The humor in this issue was also better. Once again with what I already about emitions. In any case, its better than the last.

Chapter 1- The Stone: Act 3- Hangover Cure From Hell
The layout of this comic, to me, seems much neater. Even though there isn't much happening, you manage to fill the space. This is good. Once again, think about have face emotions as well. I also like the backround for the transportation. One more thing, NEVER SAVE AS .JPG! It ruins a comic. Save as .png.

Chapter 1 complete.

Gone...
-Josherific-, I’m glad you asked for my crit. So, I’ll just cut right to the chase.
General review: In my opinion your humor needs a bit of work. There are not any glaringly obvious mistakes that strike me. I am a real stickler on humor; it takes a lot for me to laugh.

Backgrounds/sprites: These are quite nice, game sprites always seem to be successful. The editing is phenomenal; you put everything where it needs to be. The characters are lively; when they do something they do something, not like other sprites.

Comic mechanics: This is one of those few cases where the dialogue in the first layout works nicely. I think you abused the fourth wall a bit too much though. The first few comics may be a bit difficult to understand which panel I should read first, second, third, etc. I recommend putting numbers in each panel to prevent that confusion if you decide to go back to that format. The little wisecracks in the upper right hand corner really give flavor to this comic.

Grammar: I really do not see any mistakes here, the spell checker is awesome!

Humor: Overall it seems that you are working towards humor and to me it’s almost there, but it’s not quite hitting the funny bone. The hangover seems a little overdone and I’ve seen way too much drunkenness/hangovers in comics to the point where I don’t smile much to it anymore. You do plan out some things, but in some instances you seem to be just swinging some random stuff out there. I say this to everyone, but your comic needs a little refinement of humor.

Well… overall your comic is fairly decent and in my opinion is one of the better ones here. Work on the humor though.

Ok, now for chapter 2.

Chapter 2- It'sa Me!: Act 1- I hate 2D
I like the layout of this comic much better. Using colored speech bubbles make the clmic look neater. You used the portal from Mastercougars Guide to Portals, correct? If so, I would of recolored it to look like the one in the last comic. Thats just me though. My only question is, where did the ? blocks go? They are getting better with every comic.

Chapter 2- It'sa Me!: Act 2- Down Where?!
The pipe you made is pretty good. But, you should of bade the stuff by the pipe not green, like do the path they were on or something. The humor is getting better as well. Unless I'm mistaken, is that Shiny Man? I just noticed his cape. And I loke the spriting styles transaction in this one. It looks very smoothe and natural.

Chapter 2- It'sa Me!: Act 3- So That's Where We Are!
Once again, I'm not a fan of TUP, but since you have it seperated now, its getting better. Also, like I said with Chapter 1, you might want to try adding emotions to the faces by the text. It would be clasic to see Crono's face when Mario hands him the Super Mushroom. Lucca's 'I's are a little hard to see. It is, once more, getting better every time.

Chapter 2- It'sa Me!: Act 4- Big Problems
The effects on Crono's groing problems is excellent. I never noticed the star there (in the games). The part with the Koopa is also funny. The houce flying apart was also nicly done. I just dont get why they are all asking, "Who are you?" at the end of the comic.

End of Chapter 2, for now.
