Crystal Clock Reset

sceptilianmaster

Unconstrained
Okay, yesterday, I found my Crystal which hasn't been played in a very long time. Partly because I couldn't find it. When I went to the "continue" save file, the time was listed as "???". So when I selected the save file, a text box popped up and said something like, "The time and date may not be accurate. Please reset it." Then the game prompted me to reset the day and time. So I did. When I was done, I went to normal gameplay. When I started playing, everything was all perfectly normal and fine and I resumed the business of chasing Raikou over the whole region. However, something bothered me. You know what everyone says, you can't reset the clock without restarting or using a cheating device. So, does anyone know what happened?

I'm not sure what happened, but I'm also curious about this question. This happened to me before too...

That happened to me on the day I got my crystal. (My game was used) I turned on the game and found a saved file from its original/previous owner. There was the player's name and play time displayed on the screen, but the time was listed as '???'. I decided to click 'continue' to see what would happen, and the 'Time and date may not be accurate. Please reset it.' thingy came up.

Then I pressed 'A' or something and instead of taking me to the reset thing, it took me back to the screen with the continue, new game, ect. things. I tried clicking continue again, but the same thing happened.

I wonder why my game did that instead?

That happened to me too. I got my Gold from a used game store and had planned to continue the previous owner's game(I did for a while, too.) The strange thing about it was that I've been away from games for a LOOOONG time, but it hasn't happened again. You'd think it might mean the internal battery was dying, but I've had my Gold Version for two years since that day and no such thing has happened yet. I wonder what causes it, though...

It IS the internal battery. I've had this problem with Silver, and I asked about it on GameFAQs, and that's what they said. And, SheWhoLovesPineapples, they might've cheated or input the code right before you bought it, and they didn't put in a new time, so it stayed like that.

This also happened to me. I just found my Silver that I had lost for a while. I don't know why though.

Oh... that makes sense.

*nods* Unfortunately, that happened to my Gold version. So I reset the clock, hoping everything would be all hunky-dory. Well, it wasn't. The clock stopped working period, and it remained the same time, same day, no matter what I tried to do. Then I guess the internal battery got busted once and for all and I now have a blank Gold version at home.

Similar thing happened with my Silver, but I was able to save my Pokémon by sticking them in the Stadium 2 boxes. Now I just have to get at least 150 Pokémon again...which is a shame, because in my old game I had ALL the Pokémon, both seen and owned, including Mew and Celebi. ><

But my Crystal's still workin fine... I hope teh internal battery doesn't die out on me...
If you had to rest the time, it means the battery is dying- or that's what it meant for me. So even if it's working now, it probably won't be in a few weeks.
Note that I could be wrong, though this is generally what happens, at least to my knowledge.

Celebi? Was it legit? How'd you get it?
Um, are we talking about Celebi here? No? Well then, that makes your post nothing more than SPAM, doesn't it? Talking about anything that doesn't deal with the main topic of the thread = SPAM. Oh the absolute shock of common knowledge...

How I got Celebi is of none of your concern, nor business. Don't trouble yourself over how I got the elusive Legendary.

I have a legit Celebi on CRYSTAL. Just read on the main Serebii site in the Crystal Version section. It requires a GameShark code but it activates the *real* event you would witness on the Japanese version using the mobile phone. The thing is...THE EVENT IS IN ENGLISH.

On-topic, it's only happened twice. On Silver and Crystal. Crystal is still working fine. Guys, the game's 'internal battery' is in-sync with the GB/GBC/GBA's battery. It doesn't 'die', it 'dries' meaning it needs to be refreshed. A Nintendo Rep. told me one time over the phone when my internal clock ran dry.

-bows over and over at Psychic's feet- Oh, Master Psychic! I am so sorry for the trouble I hath caused thee with my meddling question! Please forgive me, for I am no one, save a child with a terrible habit of asking simple questions, and thou knowest how horrendous of a crime that is! I deserve to be thy servant forever! Please, I beg thy forgiveness, for I can hardly bear this terrible burden of knowing that I have actually dared to bother thee with my curiosity. Such behavior deserves punishment beyond measure. Please, please, please forgive me! -weeps hysterically-

I can explain it. The game hasn't been played for a while, (I remember a few of you said it was after you lost your games or after it sat in a second hand store for a while.) so the game's clock would be off (Don't ask me why.). If it was an internal battery problem, than you would have to start all over. I've had both problems with all three games.
