• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

So, what age should cursing be alright. And, at what times is it okay?

I dont think people should curse in general because it just makes them look unintelligent how ever it is ok if it just pops out like when you hurt yourself

At whatever age the person learns that cursing is a tool not a toy, and isn't called for in every god-damn sentence. See I used damn there because it expresses the seriousness of the cursing problem, but if I had said "At whatever f*(&ing age they f*(%ing feel like it mother-f*(#er, it would have been unnecessary and just plain immature.

In general, im against "hiding" cursing and sex from kids. why hide it? to make sure they don't get the false impression that those things actually exist?

Curse appropriately. Don't in front of family. Or polite company. Friends hanging out? Fuck yeah!

That's all folks!

I curse when I feel it's necessary which is hardly, but when people curse in every damn sentence that's when I tell them to shut the f*** up it's just retarded and irritating.

I curse if it's for the appropriate mood. Like having an extremely funny moment in gaming? Go "Aw F-ck" or just really mad and need to vent? Just curse to let everything out.

Do it when it feels right (What the hell? My wallet's gone!)

Since when is that swearing?

I'm in the school of thought that they're just words. They're not actually directly offensive about anyone in particular (like racial slurs).

But I know when to and when not to use these awesome words.

I think that they shouldn't have a restriction, except for racial slurs of course.
Parents should determine when their child is allowed to curse, not the teachers.

As A former Marine I have a bit of a relaxed view on swearing myself. But a s a dad... My daughter & son have a fairly tightly controlled vocabulary. Age 15 is when we allow the use of Damn & the like to be used. 18 for the really harsh words.

Limit how many times you swear because there's a reason why they're called curse words, because they are literally a curse. If you do it too much, then you might bring back the Black Plague and a dragon will pop out.

I never swear in fear of committing a sin.

In the Netherlands people have a thing for cursing with diseases like cancer, typhus and stuff. There are kids of about 5 years of age that call you out for things with those words attached to it. I don't think kids of that age should even KNOW about diseases like that.

I curse quite a lot, I am 18 but I have been doing it for a while now. It became quite a habit and as long as I don't hurt people with it, I'm still doing it.

It's awful that I even know what you're talking about XD

Well basically it is an age thing.

If you are around children, then you shouldn't however when you are talking with your mates then go ahead.

Really it is depending on the people around you.

I generally find those that curse all the time and find it "cool" to be less than bright. This could be just the bar scene but really those who curse repeatedly in a sentence to get their point across usually have less than valid opinions and knowledge/education.

I find it incredibly disrespectful to curse out in the general public; places like grocery stores, family fairs, movie theaters, retail stores, restaurants, and especially around children or the elderly.

While in the States people may have the right to act like a degenerate they don't always have to.
