• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.
  • Hi all. We had a couple of reports of people's signatures getting edited etc. in a bad way. You can rest assured this wasn't done by staff and nobody has compromised any of our databases.

However, remember to keep your passwords secure. If you use similar passwords to elsewhere which has been accessed, people and even bots may be able to access your account.

We always recommend using unique passwords, and two-factor authentication if you are able. Make sure you're as secure as possible

I rarely curse just for fillers.
Cursing in general is uncommon for me. I don't really mean the curse unless the magnitude of the situation is that deep.
You don't get trolled on because of cursing.

People curse in moments of poor self control. They also in that moments can't tell right from wrong, and think it's 'cool' to curse, but it's just poor judgement. I understand that it can sometimes slip out, that's why I trained myself to use subtitutes for harsh words, like instead of the f-word, I'd say fog - only in my home language.

Cursing is not "alright" and there isn't a "right age" to curse. I try not to curse, but it just happens some times and it doesn't make it right. It's not like "okay, I'm 13/15/17/21 years old so it's okay to cuss." I try not to cuss but if I cuss, it's whatever. Obviously, I reframe from cussing 100% when at churches or around children.

That makes zero sense - they are just words. If you say "fog" instead of "the f word" you're just being difficult for absolutely no reason. If you want to express yourself by cursing, then curse, don't decide "I'm too good for the word ****, so I'm going to say fudge instead, even though they mean the exact same thing to me."

Why do people do that? Isn't using a replacement just as bad as it would be if you didn't?

You're still referring to the exact same thing, just with a different word.

^I agree. If you're going to say it, just say it. If not, then just don't say it.

I think it's ok for people to curse to let out their anger. Just don't do it too much and don't do it in front of a lot of people and it's fine.

Words are so bad for you guys, cursing gives you cancer.

They're just words, and I've had to say this to people over and over again. Why do people care so much?

I mildly curse, but I don't really care about it. Words are words, I don't really see anything more to it.

Also, poop, crap, and shit all have the same meaning, but one is more "vulgar" than the other.

Why?

Limit how many times you swear because there's a reason why they're called curse words, because they are literally a curse. If you do it too much, then you might bring back the Black Plague and a dragon will pop out.

I never swear in fear of committing a sin.

thats how i see it

I don't really care. I don't cuss for the heck of it, but if somebody's f-bombing near a child in public, then I do care. It's retarded if you can't hold your mouth in public.

I can't really say when or if it's right to use it, but if your just throwing the words around and curse every sentence, then it's wrong and you need help for you don't know whats right or wrong, for enough is enough.

Yes, if people curse a lot they don't know right from wrong and need help. I can't believe you just said that.

Honestly, if curse words are so bad, then who came up with them?

Anyway, obviously it isn't right for a little kid to curse, but it also isn't right to curse in front of family. When you're just hanging out with friends, then I think it's okay to curse. I think cursing in every sentence is pretty annoying, though.

It depends on the family. It's ignorant and insulting to try to come up with rules for when cursing is and isn't acceptable, except for obvious ones. Everyone is different when it comes to cursing, the important thing is to respect how others feel about it and to not be holier-than-thou if you don't curse, which a lot of you guys are being, albeit unintentionally.

Why? Anyway my point still stands that f-bombing for no reason is wrong, and kids should not learn it

I'm one of those people who curse only when hurt physically.
There was the experiment done that showed that people who cursed right after stubbing their toe, slamming their finger to something, or even hitting their head, recover from pain faster than if they didn't curse.
