I know it's a bit early, but I felt like making up a speculation thread for this ep.

IMO, I think something will happen to Pochama, and Hikari will help it out/rescue it, thus furthering the bond betwen Pokemon and Trainer.

What do you think?

A bit early? More like way early but whatever.

To me "Pochama Hangs On" is either refering to Pochama getting lost and it has to 'hold on' and fight (etc) until Hikari can find it OR Hikari has her second battle (against maybe her rival?) and Pochama is losing and has to 'hold on' until Hikari can either think of a way to win or Bide pays off ;)

Either way its a Pochama ep and maybe omg Hikari personality/backstory/development.

*shrugs* Episode 6 has already aired a few hours ago in Japan, so I don't think it's that early.

I haven't seen the episode preview or anything to base speculation on, but maybe Pochama gets lost and has to fend for itself in the woods? Or Pochama has been on a losing streak and is determined to prove itself?

I'm guessing what Umeko guessed, Pochama gets lost and hurt and Hikari and the gang have to hurry up and find it or else it may die.

I'll edit this post later with more UBER AWESOME OPINIONS, but I must say this right here and now; Whoever the animation director is for this episode...well...they god damn WIN. The expressions look hillarious, the movement is really fluid (for the most part) and...well, multiple thumbs up for sure.

It's the same director who did the Registeel episode. (i.e. the only good newcomer in the past 8 months) I haven't seen poses this humorous or creative since that Sneasel/Mr. Mime episode back in the beginning of Battle Frontier. I especially love the Golduck. But man, the TWO Ludicolo are basically another slap in the face to Brock and his fans. LOL.

Obviously a contest training episode, though I hope this episode at least has one DP Pokemon debut, though. the previous episode had none whatsoever. (C'mon, let's get the Bippa appearance out of the way so we can avoid a crappy filler about it later)

And a contest training episode? This means we'll get contests earlier than when May got her first one because Hikari is already training for them when May's training episodes were a lot further into the Series than the 7th episode because she wasn't a coordinator yet.

It seems from the episode preview that while doing special training for a new attack, Pochama goes off because the water Pokemon are fighting, and I assume it's trying to resolve the problem?

And I agree, the animation looks amazing for this episode. :D~~~

Looks like Ludicolo gets an appearance, as do Wooper, Golduck, Poliwag and Quagsire. Pochama seems to be struggling and I think that maybe Hikari loses at the appeal stage in this contest and has to train Pochama a wee bit.
Pochama then gets a bit cocky with the water pokemon and insults them. But I guess the lil penguin save them from Team Rocket... how sweet.

It's been stated numerous times that Hikari plans on entering the Kotobuki contest which is before Ash's first gym battle.
