Darkness Behind The Light.

Stabberz

The RPG Godfather
Prologue.

The silence was the first thing he noticed. It was almost as if someone had died. In fact someone had. He glanced up at the faces, every single one of them staring at him, each with a mixture of emotions, some with fear, some with disgust, and others with tears in their eyes. But they didn't know the reason for it none of them did. He had probably just saved many lives at the cost of this one man’s life. He could hear that the police were on their way but at the moment he didn't care, his fist clenched even tighter around the black, cold Katana he had used to kill the man who lay on the floor in a pool of his own blood. He knew he didn't have much time to act and so he darted into action.

He raised the sword up over his head and returned it to the black sheath on his back, and then in the same movement he pulled the black hood of his long black cloak like coat over his head, covering an untidy mop of long black hair. His cold black eyes, one of which was normally covered by his fringe, were now hidden from view. He turned around the black coat billowing around his black jeans in the wind, making his appearance all the more sinister.

He had two minutes at best before the police arrived and about thirty seconds before his 'friends' would arrive and then he would have to fight for his life. He glanced down at his Pokéballs, only three were clipped onto his belt clear white belt, his three most trusted Pokémon, Tyranitar, Lucario and Umbreon, they might be able to last out against one of his potential pursuers but all of them had the strength of elite trainers. Some brave members of the crowd tried to stop him but he silenced them simply by holding out his hand and letting the dark energy gifted to him course through his body and flash out of his palm startling many of them and causing them to jump back. With that exit he turned and ran down a dark alley.

Twenty seconds left. Barely enough time for him to activate the amulet, and activate it he did. Cleansing his mind of all the thoughts that were weighing him down he allowed the amulet around his neck to slowly split into two forms of energy, the first flying along his skin and onto his right hand, forming a black glove and the second flying along his skin and onto his left hand also forming a glove.

“Five seconds.” He muttered in a mysterious voice that seemed to be full of unknown pain and suffering that seemed out of place in such a dark looking person.

Two seconds later and he realized that his prediction had been wrong, by two seconds. The air suddenly seemed to drop to below freezing point and his breath left condensation in the air; he immediately knew who it was.

“Figures, they'd send you first.” he called, turning around to face his pursuer. “Eira.”

“They seemed to think I could make you think about what you've done.” Eira replied, despite her best attempts to stay cool and cold her emotions shone through.

Eira was a woman of around nineteen, with waist length pure blonde hair that swayed with help from the wind that whistled through the alley, she had a pair of innocent sapphire blue eyes that were concentrated solely on his own black ones, her clothing consisted of a long sleeved ice blue shirt that only covered her left arm leaving her right arm open to the elements. On her bottom half she wore a pair of dark blue Lycra trousers that were tucked into a pair of black boots, her skin was pale and a pair of light blue gloves adorned her hands.

“I take it that they will be here within the next two minutes?” He asked taking a careful step forward that caused Eira to step back, her hand cautiously moved towards her hip where her crystalline rapier was sheathed, her hand was shaking as she placed it above the rapier.

“Yes, unless you choose the easier of the two ways that this could end.” Eira replied, her usual coldness creeping into her voice but still not masking the emotion that she was giving off, something that he unhappily knew he was the cause of.

“Eira, we both know how this will end, it’s the night, my element and lets not forget that you couldn't kill me.” he replied, falling back on patronization to fight her, he didn't want to have this turn physical, because just as much as she couldn't kill him, he couldn't kill her in fact it would tear at his conscience to even hurt her.

“You want to make a bet on that. Kearn” Eira asked drawing her rapier and in that same movement stepping forward and slashing.

She seemed to have forgotten that it was well into the middle of the night which meant the darkness aided him, increasing both his speed and power. The only thing that held him back was the small shred of humanity that this group of people had installed into him, and so rather than finish Eira right there, all he could do was block her attack with a powerful attack of his own that almost sent the rapier spinning out of her hand, luckily she kept hold of it and used the momentum to spin around and bring the sword slashing down towards his neck. But Kearn was fully into the first stage of the darkness and he easily blocked the attack, stopping Eira's momentum and increasing his own. The darkness within him mixed with the darkness of his power and slowly began to corrode his mind causing him to attack, focusing all of his power into the next blow, a quick flash of darkness shooting through his blade.

A slight alteration in the position of her body saved Eira from death, as she saw the dark energy shoot up the blade she focused her power and pushed herself into the second stage of her power, the air around them freezing even more and her gloves pushing up until they covered her whole arm as the change was completed she leant back and brought her sword crashing into his, the clang of steel upon steel was resounding but once the sound had died down both humans were still standing there each with their sword against the others, it seemed to be a battle of wills.

This ended however when Kearn adjusted his powers matching up with Eira's and going into his second stage, his eyes darkening even more and his skin going to an even paler colour, his gloves also shot up his arms, but the few seconds it took him to adjust his power was enough for Eira and she adjusted her blade and brought the edge of her rapier arcing down across Kearn's face sending a splatter of blood across the wall behind them as her sword came off of his face, a long cut running diagonally was bleeding purposefully, the cut running the length of his face, starting in between his eyes and running across the bride of his nose and then coming to a stop at the end of his chin.

As fast as the blood had appeared it quickly disappeared. The wound clearing itself of blood and then sealing itself within a few seconds a powerful wave of dark energy shooting across his whole body and then disappearing leaving no trace of the wound but a scar, this one attack was enough to push his powers over the edge and into stage three, the darkness surrounding him completely as his eyes and hair became surrounded in a pure black aura, his skin turning a deathly pale as he surveyed Eria, then with an almost inhuman burst of speed he was upon the female his sword flashing through the air and crashing straight into her rapier almost tearing it from her grasp and sending her hurtling towards the wall.

For a few seconds she flew with the sword but eventually it fell from her grasp and she landed hard on the stone floor the breath knocked from her lungs.

Still using the momentum from his earlier attack, Kearn spun around and with his eyes completely bathed in darkness he plunged his sword towards the downed Eira.

“Kearn stop.” A loud voice boomed through the street, the voice belonged to a tall man of about eighteen, he had short spiked brown hair that poked in all directions like a pin cushion a single strand off it fell into hazel coloured eyes, on his person he wore a dark brown trench coat that was unbuttoned revealing a dark blue shirt underneath that was tucked into a pair of black jeans, in his hand he wielded a large sword that was resting on the ground, his name was Cephas.

The shout from his friend was enough to snap Kearn out of the trance his powers had put him in. He looked from Eira to Cephas, the odds had just gotten worse and the point of this hadn't been to fight them but to escape before they could attack him. He made the decision, choosing to leave before he had done anything else he turned towards the alley way but was stopped as a small burst of sludge flew through the air and then erupted at his feet, vaporising the steel drain that was on the floor.

“You’re surrounded.” A small voice, full of emotion stated, the speaker soon showed herself, before him stood a fourteen year old girl, shoulder length light purple hair was swaying in the wind, vivid violet eyes were staring at him, her whole body was obstructed by a long black cloak with a purple sash tied around her waist, it would seem that she was the only one taking him seriously.

“Afra...”he murmured as Eira slowly got up, Cephas had joined her and now Kearn was surrounded, his three closest friends all staring at him. A deathly silence almost deafening to the four humans who stood in the darkened alleyway.

“Why did you do it?” The silence was interrupted by Eira who had retracted her powers back into the ice blue bracelet that she wore around her wrist.

“He was going to end the world.” Kearn replied simply, his cold black eyes were unfocused.

Afra knew that look however and fixed him with a scowl. “Don't even try it, Calder and Rai are here as well and they unlike us have their Pokémon trained on you so please Kearn just don't.”

“She's right Kearn, we're your friends.” Cephas added his eyes still fixed on his friend who seemed tense, something they were all alert to.

“I did what was right, if it weren't for me, the organisation would be finished by now, you'd all be dead and what I did today was no different.” Kearn replied coldly his eyes searching around the tops of the buildings and quickly surveying two glints in the darkness, Afra was right, he would die if he tried anything.

“By killing people!? By letting yourself get immersed in the darkness!? You idiot! You haven't helped anyone!” Eira yelled, her anger and pain echoing in her tone as she took a few steps forward bringing herself close enough to Kearn giving her the distance to slap him before the tears began running down her face, her barely concealed sobs echoing through the alleyway.

After almost two minutes of silence bar the sobs Kearn finally made his move, with his fists clenched and a single tear rolling down his cheek he addressed everyone around him.

“You may keep the organization going but know one thing.” He called firmly his fingernails digging into his palms. “When you are weak and need me the most, I won't be fighting on your side.”

And with that he put on a burst of speed and shot past Afra. A second later and a Hydro Pump and a Thunderbolt struck the ground where he'd been standing not one second before. Another second passed and a beam of ice froze the ground where the two attacks had hit. A further four seconds were lost and then two males landed on the ground, both dressed in black cloaks, with hoods pulled up over their heads.

“We'll find him, don't worry there are twenty of us and one of him.” This comment was directed at Eira whose sobs had stopped and instead she was staring at where Kearn had previously been standing, her eyes glazed over and her fists clenched.

“Not if he doesn't want to be found.” Cephas's replied, his voice echoing everyone's thoughts.

So there's the Prologue, now for some definitions.

The boy's name Kearn \ke(a)-rn\ is pronounced kern. It is of Irish origin, and its meaning is "dark".

The boy's name Cephas \ce-phas\ is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "rock".

The girl's name Afra \a-fra, af-ra\ is of Hebrew and Arabic origin, and its meaning is "young"

The girl's name Eira \e(i)-ra\ is of Welsh origin, and its meaning is "snow"

So I hope you actually comment this time.

This really showed me how much you got better and it hung me on to reading more...Thinking 'Who died?' 'Who was the killer'? You know...and I can almost believe this is a supernatural fic where people have special abilities. Knowing your RPG's (i think thats what their called) I could guess that.

This was really interesting and you got a very good prologue making me want to know more of the characters and what they will be doing over the chapters...very ineresting

Anyway, I'll leave you to the buzzards...I'll come back for chapter one.

The RPG Godfather
Aura Master: Thanks, here is another new chapter specifically for you.

Chapter 1.

Two Years Later.

A surprisingly feral growl ripped from the young woman’s lips as she slowly got back up, her vivid green eyes with a seemingly real ring of flame in them. She couldn’t believe what had just happened, and it had happened to her. She was the one person who was able to dodge everything, be everywhere and she had been bundled over by a petty criminal. She wasn’t even supposed to be here for God’s sake, but no, stupid heroic Solana had to use her power to stop the big man who had just robbed a bank.

So she had teleported, not quite in plain view but someone must have caught sight of her. She could deal with that later. All it would take would be some mind wiping from someone.

Her eyes narrowed as she concentrated on the alley that the man was already halfway through. Despite the distance, she could see him almost as if he was right in front of her. The black bag he held over his shoulder, the mask pulled over his face, even the drops of perspiration that were trickling down his neck.

This view was obstructed seconds later as a group of Pidgey flew from the building above her, sending a few powerful gusts of wind downwards that caused her wavy dark blonde hair to fall into her eyes infuriating her even more.

Not even bothering to push the hair out of her eyes, Solana began to concentrate, allowing her mind to erase every thought and image bar two. The image; the end of the alley way, two feet away from the man. The thought; teleport...quickly.

If some by any chance someone had been walking by at that precise second they would of thought they had hallucinated because one second the average height, dark blonde haired woman was standing in the middle of the dirty wet alley way and the next second she was gone.

As expected the teleportation left her slightly disorientated at first but this time she had given herself enough space to ready herself. Despite the shock at seeing this nineteen year old woman appear before him as if by magic, the bank robber kept running. He had knocked her over before; what could possibly stop it from happening again?

Unfortunately the man hadn’t noticed the indigo and green gloves that now adorned the woman’s hands and this was his downfall. Solana allowed her powers to assert themselves and then, with surprising speed, took a single step forward and then brought her green shoe clad foot straight into the bank robber's face, drawing a yell of shock and pain from him before he fell flat on his back. He his head on the hard concrete ground causing him to enter the calmness of unconscious.

This infuriated Solana. “What the ****, why’d you have to go and fall unconscious?”

She growled giving the man a good kick in the stomach to test if he was faking; it turned out he wasn’t.

“Stupid idiot,” Solana murmured, pulling the hood of her dark green and black hoody up over her head to hide her eyes and hair.

She could hear the sirens echoing around the city, slowly getting closer and closer. She would have to leave despite the fact that she hadn’t gotten a good fight out of it.

“Oh well.” She sighed cleansing her mind once again and disappearing from sight, leaving an unconscious man laying on the floor and a bag of money seemingly discarded next to him.

Only one person had seen what had happened, a man dressed all in black leaning against the roof of a building, his face and hair hidden by the hood of the coat he wore. A black katana was unsheathed and stabbed into the ground next to him a black gloved hand resting atop the end of the sword.

Cautiously he glanced at both ends of the alley. No one in sight. Without even a twitch of warning the cloaked figure pulled his sword out of the concrete that it was dug into and leapt down onto the floor landing beside the unconscious man.

This whole process only took two seconds and the cloaked figure only took another second to stand up and bring his sword slashing downwards across the man’s throat severing his bearded face and head from his body. A pool of dark red blood beginning to form on the ground.

Two seconds later and the man was gone, darting down a side alley and from there climbing onto the roof. With no one pursuing him he allowed himself to run at normal speed. He wouldn’t be followed anyway. As far as the pathetic organization was concerned, he wasn’t in the city. If only they knew what he had planned.

It was hot, and that coupled with all of the thoughts playing in her head annoyed her greatly. She didn’t know why they were still in this stupid city. It had all been Sahil’s idea: all twenty one of them staying in one place in the former base of their greatest enemies who at one point in time they had defeated using the power of light. But now she knew the truth. Kearn had killed most of them, acting in his own interests to defeat them, and now, Sahil expected Kearn to come back and try and face all twenty one of them.

“Why are we still here?” she growled. She curled her hand into a fist and punched a nearby wall, causing pain to shoot through her hand. She knew that this outburst was drawing looks of pity and pain from both Afra and Cephas. “It’s been two ****ing years.”

She brought her fist into the wall again, this time focusing almost all of her power into the one punch.

The wall was made of four tonne steel blocks whilst her hand was made of bone; there was no contest. The wall won. A sharp pain shooting through her hand causing her to let out a sharp gasp of air. Carefully she pulled her hand back, letting out a minuscule smile once she saw that her hand was fine and that the wall had a fist shaped dent embedded into it.

Noticing that she was now done, Cephas chose to answer her question.

“The reason we are still here is because Sahil wants us to stay together. He knows as well as most of us that Kearn is dangerous.” His voice wavered with emotion as he mentioned his former best friend.

“He needs to be stopped,” Eira yelled suddenly, his name more than enough to push her over the edge. Her fists became clenched, both of them hidden from the human eye by a pair of crystal blue gloves that had formed in the past two seconds.

“Well. Why don’t you bring it up in the ****ing council?” Cephas growled back they were all standing before the massive black metal doors which were beginning to open.

“Maybe I will,” Eira snarled coldly before stalking off into the chambers, disappearing from sight as she turned to the left.

“You couldn’t just stay calm?” Afra asked venomously, the argument having gotten to her as well. She too walked in through the doors, leaving Cephas to walk through slowly on his own.

The first thing that Cephas noticed as he walked through the doors was the absence of the black coats they all normally wore. Instead they wore clothes that seemed associated with their powers. He glanced around at the entire room once before taking his seat on the male half of the room in between Bala and Arun.

“Welcome, my fellow humans.” The loud labored voice belonging to Sahil echoed across the great hall and seconds later the leader of the Organization stepped forward into the light.

He was a tall man, that was one of the first things you noticed. Then, next thing was the thick black hair that grew upon his head. It came to the lower part of his neck and traveled around his ears and then along the top of his forehead leaving his face completely in sight.
As he stepped out into the light even more his skin and eye colors were revealed. He was dark skinned, a fact that seemed to go well with his black hair. His eyes also followed the dark theme, their color a clear dark blue.

His attire was revealed a second later as he stepped fully into the light. A dark red shirt adorned his upper body with a black, white and grey chain resting around his neck. On his lower half he wore a pair of dark blue jeans trousers that hung low over a pair of black shoes.

“I suppose that you are wondering why you’re all here. Dressed in regular clothing?” the tall man asked his eyes sweeping across the room. “To be quite blunt. A man was murdered today after he was knocked unconscious by Solana.”

A few pairs of eyes traveled towards the nineteen year old woman, who sat uncaring of the looks she was receiving. Instead her gaze was fixed upon Sahil.

“The victim was struck once, with such an impact that the ground where the weapon struck was almost split in two.” The bad news seemed to just keep rolling off his tongue.

“Do we know who did it?” A man to the left asked, he was wearing a dark yellow hooded jacket that was tight on his skin and covered the top half of his black trousers, a golden yellow ring was on his finger.

“The wound was dealt by a katana,” Sahil announced his eyes moving away from Rai’s and onto Eira’s face.
He was just fast enough to catch the look of pain that shot across her face before she masked it behind a mask of coldness. The next person he checked on was Cephas who as expected had lost the color in his face.
Finally he checked on Afra who had gotten enough time to pull up the face guard of her dark purple cloak to cover the lower part of her face. He could still see her eyes however that radiated emotion.

“It’s him, isn’t it?” Anika asked innocently, her eyes sparkling.

Anika was the youngest girl in the Organization at fourteen years, but she did her best to make herself look older. Allowing her bubble gum pink hair to grow to her lower back, framing her face with the bangs which she had died purple. She had pale pink innocent eyes that when combined with her slightly pale skin gave off the essence of innocence. Trying to add to the older look, she wore a pair of skin tight white and pink trousers that came to a stop at her black and pink shoes. On her top half she wore a dark pink shirt that covered her chest and upper stomach, leaving her arms and lower stomach bare, something that all of the organization frowned upon.

“Yes,” Sahil sighed after a few moments of silence. “It was Kearn.”

Those three words were enough to get all of the Organization to stand to their feet each and every one of them activating their powers, a few of them pushing it to the second stage.

“It was obviously done to send a message,” Rai stated as sparks of electricity cackled along his tanned skin.

“Well, we’re going to need to go and find him,” Dahy the man who sat next to Rai murmured.

“We need to finish him,” Bala the most young and reckless one of them all announced his power pushed all the way into its third stage causing his normally blue eyes to turn bright purple. The same colour outlining his dark blue shirt and jeans.

“Killing him will be the last option we will consider,” Sahil replied, silencing Bala who glared at the leader before toning his power down to its second stage. “Preparations have already been put into action. Seven of us will go out and search for him.”

“A team of seven?” Afra pondered. All the members of the Organization had left their seats and were now standing around Sahil. “Who’s going?” She added asking the question that was on everyone’s minds.

“The team will consist of; Rai, Dahy, Calder, Solana, Gomer, Carys and I,” Sahil replied his with a nod which signaled the other six members to take their places beside him.

“Electricity, Speed, Water, Teleportation, Strength, Illusion and Healing and Death,” Afra stated listing the power that each human possessed.

“Why aren’t we involved?” Eira asked loudly, causing the speaking to cease and all eyes to fall upon her.

“Because you would let your emotions rule you.” Sahil replied. Addressing not only Eira but Afra and Cephas as well.

“I’ve spent two ****ing years training!” Eira yelled, all of her pain and emotion echoing in her voice causing her powers to increase to their third stage. “Whilst the rest of you have been sat around on your asses wondering where he could have gotten to.”

The temperature of the room had dropped well below freezing point.

“Eira, stop,” Cephas called calmly as he placed a hand on her left shoulder, something that he immediately regretted.

Eira’s power had taken over her mind completely making her unaware of who was who. With eyes almost like ice crystals and a fist laced with cold, unbreakable Ice she spun around and drove a powerful punch into Cephas’s face.

A load crack echoed through hall as her fist made contact with his nose causing him to grunt in pain. Somehow, though, he managed to stay on his feet despite the blood running down from his completely destroyed nose.

The sight of her friend’s blood was enough to bring Eira back. The gloves disappearing completely as her eyes returned back to their normal crystal blue the temperature in the room also rose up again as well.

“Even mentioning him causes you to lose control of your powers so I suggest you retire to your living quarters,” Sahil stated his eyes set on her as his hand unleashed a pure white light towards Cephas nose.

“No. I’m going to find him,” Eira replied coldly her eyes glancing at each member of the Organization before she left out through the double doors and eventually out into the bustling city.

“I'll bring her back,” Afra announced, pulling the hood of her cloak up and over head as she ran.

“Cephas, don’t,” Sahil threatened to the recently healed man who had started after Afra.

“I’m not leaving them out their alone,” Cephas growled before he too began to follow Eira.

"No!" Sahil roared, not to Cephas but to the others who had started to follow him. "Let those three try and find their friend, the seven of us will find him whilst you ten stay here."

"What are we supposed to do?" Anika asked coldly; she had been one of the people trying to follow Cephas.

"Find and finish off our enemies," Sahil replied flippantly, his mind focused on something else.

"Boss, let's go," Gomer called from the doors. The other five had already left.

"Egil is in charge. Stay safe," Sahil called to the ten people they had left behind and then he was gone chasing after the man who had turned against their Organization.

That made me lol a little...Idk.why...

Anyway...

So....Kearn went bad....Cause from the prologue, it seemed as if he were apart of them...hmm..

Lets recap the story

-Solona Pwns a robber in the face

Im curious of the man with the kantana on top of the roof...I think it's Kearn but..Idk..

-They chat

-Sahil divides them into a group leaving Eira....She ran off.....

Not much happened but eh, its only the first chapter..

Edge Master

I'm back!
Well I'm not much of a rater but I can tell you that you have a nice story so far. I'm interested to see what happens to this organization and kearn as neither of them seems evil or too antagonistic. Also I think that your a good describer and can make some great characters. The only complaint I have currently though is the number of characters. It's kinda confusing for me but I guess that as chapters go on they will be easier to distinquish if they're developed well. And finally you had me worried for a minute cause you had a similar idea to one I had to add into a fanfic I mightwrite but it's different so I'm not worried. All In all though it's a catchy story with lots of potential
