Death Note.

Yeah, but I don't think the series would have been able to go very far if they kept him alive.

What burst my bubble was that after his death, there was hardly any mention of him practically solving the case beforehand. They gave Near and Mello too much credit. >;O <//3

This is a good anime, it really did hit my taste buds. It was deep (in my opinion), and the story was great. By far, Matt was my favourite character, followed by Rem. And plus, I'm seeing Maximum The Hormone live next year! :D

The show was more interesting when L was still alive. D:

The anime? Well I prefer the manga.

I do not think it would've been more interesting if L had lived. Then people like Near and Mello wouldn't have appeared.

Near was superior to L (at least in my opinion) and Mello had guts.

Mello had a lot of guts. And L was a good character, but I think Near picked up where L left off anyways.

I think they gave Near too much credit; Mello actually deserved it. He really did something and gave Near an opening. All Near did was sit and play with his toys. :/ sorryidon'tlikenearatall

Mello went to unmeasurable limits, if that's the opinion you have of him. Near did just sit around. I preferred L over Near.

That's what I'm saying. I love Mello. Honestly, he's my favorite character. Out of all of them, he actually got up and took actual action to try and trap Kira.

My chart goes like this:

Mello > L > Near

Yeah...

Mello was a bit rash though with some of the things he did. I mean, he didn't mean for Matt to get killed, did he?

Mello was ok. I liked his way of doing things. He took action unlike Near.

Near was sort of like L, always taking things slowly.

Near was too much like L in my opinion. Like, he was a clone of L. I preferred Mello though. Especially the Shidoh (spelling?) episode. I really did love that episode.

No, you can see in both the anime and the manga that he has a little regret scene where he tells Matt that he's sorry. ; _ ;

Death Note is one of the best animes that 've seen =). Mello Ftw! Haha the plot and story were complex and deep, and I loved it. I remember watching it when Adult Swim started showing it, from the begining... That was a couple years ago XP... However, despite my love for Death Note, it is now Tied with Code Geass for my favorite anime. =)

Yes. Mello did regret losing Matt. I've only read the manga version of that sense but the anime is the same I'm sure.

Naw, that's sad :'( Even though Matt didn't get shown much in the anime, I still see him as my favourite character.

Plot holes and overcomplicated, convoluted messes doesn't equal depth. I say this as someone who enjoyed the series. It wasn't deep, and complexity isn't always a good thing, sure as hell not in this case.
