sorry to cause bother if anyones said this but;

in the beginning of the pokespeacial manga there where quite a few gruesome deaths such as a graveller being smashed into pieces of ice, an onix getting masacered by a pikachu into bits, and as fatr as I remember an Arbok getting beheaded really gruesomely by Greens Charmeleon?

Clearly we're great!
I don't think the Onix died, and the Arbok was later cheaply brought back, saying that it could regenerate its body.

What about the Fake Groudon from Movie 6? Technically, it did die, except it was evil so no one cared.

Old quote, but I just wanted to offer a different perspective on this.

First, I personally believe that the Groudon wasn't truly alive---it was just the energy from the comet incarnated into a physical form. Maybe like a Mirage Pokémon in a different way.

Second, think about all the people and Pokémon Groudon ate with its tentacles. They were trapped inside it, so became part of its being, correct? That would mean that when Jirachi drained the energy out of Groudon's body, that would include everything it contained---meaning Brock, May, Dianne, Butler, Absol, Salamence, Flygon, Team Rocket, and all the other Pokémon Groudon ate died as Jirachi absorbed their energy. After all, they didn't just fall out as Groudon's body evaporated, they had to be teleported by Jirachi.

And to further my point, Groudon also melted then was blown up by Jirachi. I think everything it contained would be dead by that point if Groudon didn't kill them itself by draining their energy.

^I remember that quote, what was it, a month ago?

Anyway, Pokemon have to die, because of the Onix Grave at the Sevii Islands, Lavender Tower, and Mt. Pyre.

I think that Kyogre and Groudon sort of "died", as in, their soul was taken from them. They resided at the top of Mt. Pyre in the form of the Red/Blue Orbs until the protagonist captured them. They are on Mt. Pyre, right? It would make sense, since you lay your dead to rest there in Hoenn...

All living things have to die sooner or later, right? If no pokemon died, they'd be overpopulated and there would be no room for other livings things to live.

Pokemon are life forms. just like you and me. they're born, they live they battle they die. this appies to the legendaires too, yes even Mew. how they are born is a different question, for most it's a simple pairing of male and female of the same egg group. for some, just for keeping consistain with the game play, the legendairies most liking, reproduce Asexualy. (meaning they don't need a partner. hence them being Genderless. They'll have a kid or two, then die. and thats about all the needs be said about that

If you're talking about the video games, you could just as well ask why the trainers seem to live forever. Seriously, how annoying would it be if you raised your pokemon to a really high level and then it died? Also, Satoshi Tajiri didn't want the pokemon to kill each other, because he wanted pokemon to be a more peaceful game.

why do trainers make such a big deal when there pokemon is in the pokemon center?

The anime writers wanted it to be more dramatic. They also wanted Ash to show that he really cared for his pokemon and cared if they got hurt. Besides Pika, Pokemon are usually in their balls, where their trainer can't show their caring for them by being worried if they were falling off a cliff. The only place that they would be out is the arena, so the writers had to make the pokemon get hurt in battle.

I think pokemon do die when they get old. What I think is strange, is that Pikachu sometimes gets hurt in battle and Brock tells Ash to take him to the pokemon center before it's "too late". I've wondered what he meant by that, and I think he was implying that the pokemon was going to die, but I don't want to believe that pokemon kill each other in battle. It makes pokemon seem too bad.

Why should legendaries die too? Are they legendary just for their stats and movepool, or are they legendary because they're special and never die and what not?

Pokemon die. The producers just don't want to show the younger viewers of Pokemon the horrible truth.

How can you possibly do that? You say that you don't think they die, then give evidence that they do in fact die.

No he didn't die. You must be on crack or something because Celebi was severely weakened by the effects of the dark ball. And the other Celebis came from out of the light and revived him at the last second. I watched that movie for 6 hours straight cuz there was NOTHING TO DO. And, concerning all the people who think Pokemon are immortal, Pokemon do die, with the exception of the legendaries because I think they are reincarnated kind of like a pheonix who burns every 2000 years but never really dies. And the Pokemon Tower is a dead giveaway.
