I'm fan of the series but man, it's incredible how it managed to perform so well despite everything going on. I wouldn't doubt it'd make even more if Covid wasn't a thing.

Why is it so popular anyway? I'd never even heard about it until the anime was getting made and I feel like a lot of its popularity comes from just how lucky they got with which studio chose to adapt it. I read the first volume of the manga but it didn't really seem that much different from other shonen.

I remember once writting a long post in a brazilian forum about it.

If I can summed it down, it's mostly for using aspects of the japanese culture to great effect, do something different for the usual Jump's character archetypes, mix elements of horror and, of course, having an anime that looks really good.
