Dengeki Pikachu

Hello. I have noticed that there is not much talk on the subject of the "Dengeki Pikachu" manga and I heard that it was edited when it hit the states and I wonder if anyone would like to say anything about it, from how it was edited to where is it now.

No - Dengeki Pikachu is "The Electric Tale of Pikachu" Manga in the US. In the Japanese Version, there were scenes where Ash walked in on Misty naked, and or scenes where a little too much skin was showing, so it was edited to appease American parents.

I almost bought it the other day but I'm waiting to see if Viz is going to rerelease anything, considering they are doing "Best of" Compilations for the Pokémon Adventures manga. So maybe they will release an unedited version or something...

I wish Manga could be left alone - all I know is that it's left alone moreso then Anime is.

Of course they would be edited because they were published in english long ago, when censorship of Japanese entertainment was a bit iffy. And Pokemon was really aimed at children. It would only lead to trouble. But I think it would be sort of safe for Viz to release them unedited this time. Although, they may still get complaints from parents.

Anyway, I have the first two of The Electric Tale of Pikachu. Mine may be unedited because some of the chest sizes seem untouched. Unless those were always there and never edited.

I have all four graphic novels. Awesome, awesome series. I wish it would have continued after Orange Islands, although Viz probably wouldn't have continued translating it.

I hate how the last chapter introduces a lot of unanswered questions, though. :/

I think there was a rumor that Toshiro Ono was fired from the job because of his portrayal of female characters with enormous chests and sleazy clothes...

But none the less, it was still an enjoyable series, just unfortunate that he forgot he was targeting a kid's market and not a teen market.

Mostly, all Breast sizes were reduced to nothing and all of the skin showing was covered up.

I got in trouble in middle school for bringing that picture to school (the one of Misty in that skimpy bathing suit.

Same here, Also my thrid is "Half-Edited" I.e Misty is not wearing the black shirt before the gym battle but during she is wear the full black wet suit.

I read somewhere (on the site that Midnight Scott provided a link to) that a lot of the editing for Dengeki Pikachu was inconsistant with Viz. So, as opposed to it being half-edited, it was just a bad job on Viz's part. Personally, I didn't mind any of the edits (but that might be just because I'm a girl, and don't mind not having to see those types of things in manga...).

As for the series as a whole, I enjoyed it. It was a lot more interesting than the animé, for the most part.
