This is what I don't understand about the male/female sprites. If I trade my female wooper into P/D, will it lose part of it's antennae? Will my pokemon change when they are traded? Will they stay that way, if I trade them back to emerald?

yes itll lose its antennae, then grow back when you trade them back to R/S/E/.

But it's way too confusing.
It's not confusing. This feature is new to d/p. It's not going to magically start occuring in r/s/e.

It's like when you trade a pokemon from r/b/y to g/s/c. The pokemon magically gains a gender. However, when you trade it back to r/b/y, it still doesn't have a gender.

You see. This is the confusing part. If you lost the antennae, and they don't grow back the whole entire time you play P/D like for 300+ hours, and then trade it back, the wooper suddenly grows it's antennae?

Don't make it so technical, it's a game!

Your thinking about it too much ^^' It's just how it goes. Don't worry about it too much, even though it might be confusing.

Exactly. But can you trade some pokemon from D/P to R/S/E and FR/LG? Only old gen pokemon of course.

Uh i know you can trade ruby/sapphire/emerald pokemon onto D&P but im not sure about FR and LG..

It's not programmed in the 3rd gen the antenna will grow back plain and simple

I think they said that you can trade them from FR/LG and R/S/E to D/P and vice versa. The whole antenna thing makes sense, because just as the sprite changes from game to game and and the adding of the gender when trading from RBY to GSC, this makes sense.

Emerald isn't programmed to change based on gender, and sprites change to suit the way the game was programmed to display them. Think about Deozys and its form changes.

Yeah, but if Emerald will be able to use the P/D pokemon, don't you think that changed sprites will stay changed on their return trip to emerald?

No. When you trade a Growlithe to Ru/Sa from FR/LG for example, the sprite changes. But when you trade it back, it returns to the way it was originally in FR/LG. I don't see what's so confusing about the concept, myself. It's been like this in every game, sprites changing to a different image (Varying from version to version, etc) and returning to their original images when they're traded back to the game they originated from.
