Could you elaborate on why you chose these themes for Alola and Galar?

Sure

Alola is all about how others influence someone/something. Alola forms being influenced by old Pokémon being in a new place, Necrozma's radiance influenced the creation of Z Crystals and eventually the Island Challenge, UBs being influenced by being fish out of water, and Lillie is influenced by her interactions with everyone to eventually confront her mother's abusive ways. Family would be another fitting term but it doesn't fit as well for everything. Plus family influences how you become as a person as seen with the Aether family, Hau/Hala, Hapu, & Guzma.

Galar is all about the Gym Challenge and there's also a theme of passing the torch (You beat Leon to be the next Champion, Sonia becomes the next professor after Magnolia with Hop following after, Bede/Opal, Marnie/Piers) so the tradition of what makes Galar stand out is being passed down to the next generation.

It's quite big actually despite most of it being split across 4 islands and yet most routes are quite long including.... Lush Jungle, Brooklet Hill, Vast Poni Canyon (Mountain Area above the Totem Cave)

But Haina Desert where you can get lost in circles even with a guide when searching for Tapu Bulu. That desert really loves making trainers feel lost and walking in circles with a heavy ammount of wild pokemon in clouds coming after them. I hate this area.
