I was looking around the web earlier today and came across Pokemon Sepia and Pokemon Monochrome - a fan made idea for a Red and Green/Blue prequel where you play as Oak and Agatha as kids and search for a smaller selection of the Kanto Pokemon and use old style Pokeballs as seen in the 4th Pokemon movie with Celebi.
And on one of the comments for this idea (which was posted around 2011) it read: "I'd be glad of a smaller selection of Pokemon, 600+ is just ridiculous"
And here we are, with only 69 Pokemon and people are still not happy. I admit I'm a little disappointed with such a low number but in the long term we'll be thankful. Gen 7 could have pushed us towards 900 if we carried on at the same rate, but with any luck we'll only be just over 800-850 max, which is still a HUGE number.
The sooner everyone accepts this the better.
