That would be a boner softener. Like, anti-Viagra. Why would they create a normal Eeveelution? That's so boring.

Plus, they're keeping the typing a secret. Are we all supposed to get excited when they reveal that this thing is a *drum roll* ...Normal type? Point being, if it was normal, they would have just said it was normal instead of hiding it.

Eeveelutions are full embodiments of their types. You can TELL Flareon is fire. You can TELL Espeon is Psychic. You can TELL Glaceon is ice, Vaporeon is water, Leafeon is grass. That's the point of Eeveelutions; they have nothing defining them other than they're types. But when we all see this new Eeveelution, we have no idea what we're looking at. It looks as though it may have a little flying influence, but it doesn't fully embody flying like the other Eeveelutions embody their types. There is no strong indication by its artwork that screams "I CAN &%$#ING FLY." And Game Freak knows we can't tell what it is, or else they would have listed its type as "Flying" instead of "???". They're keeping a secret.

But why? Why would they show us an Eeveelution, but keep ambiguous the feature that DEFINES it? Why would they make an Eeveelution that does not seem to fully embody any of the types we know and love?

My guess is that its because its NOT a type we know. It's a new type. That's why we can't recognize its typing by looking at it. That's why they're keeping its typing a secret. Because the unveiling of this new type is an unveiling for another day.

So what could this type be? Well, I hate to revisit what has been falsely speculated in generations past, but this seems to be a Light type. Or in Japan, "Pure" or something along those lines, since the Dark type translates to "Evil" type in Japan. This Eeveelution fully embodies "Pure" in that it looks friendly and welcoming; its bows give it a feminine, almost childish feel of innocence. Its colors are limited to mild, calm colors rather than brighter, more violent colors, which extend to a spectrum at the tips of the ribbons flowing from its bows. The spectrum may be a nod toward the concept of light.

If this is true, and a light type is brought to existence, then it is likely that Xerneas is a Light type as well, as an opposition to Yveltal's likely Dark type. Light and Dark; Good and Evil. Note that "Evil" is already hinted at in Yveltal's name, so this is likely a theme. And of course, Xerneas looks very heroic and bodes well the appearence of "Good", and also embodies light (look at its antlers).

If a light type is created, its likely that some Pokémon from past generations will adopt the type as well. I'm looking at you, Chansey.

Seriously great ideas!
Now I'm sure that Sylveon is either Light or something else but is something NEW

Call me crazy TWN, but Hoppip, Skiploom, Jumpluff, Mantine, and Landorus (Therian Forme) don't SCREAM FLYING TYPE either but they're still Flying.

The hype's probably just going on because it's the first pure flying type that isn't a legendary. That seems like something GF would overhype people about.

I share the same opinion as you, a normal type reveal is pretty boring and it's looking like the type is pointing towards a 'Light' type.

The issue I'm having is that why would you release a light type after having dark for so long? They come hand in hand and I don't see why they'd ignore it until now. It just feels a little random to me to introduce a light type, that's the reason I'm kinda guessing normal, although I agree it doesn't embrace the type like the others do if that is the case.

I feel the reason they never did light is because it's too similar to normal, looking at all the normal Pokemon they are practically light Pokemon or at least very close to it.

I just feel that light and normal are too close to each other that it won't be a light type. I'm not entirely sure to be honest, I'm excited to find out though.

EDIT - I'd be extremely shocked if it was a flying type, although there are Pokemon that don't look like flying types but fly have other typing which they embrace more. Skiploom, Jumpluff for example are designed by how they'd interact within the real world, plants that would be carried away by wind. Flying... Mantine is similar with how the design would interact with the real world, the 'loose' idea being that it could glide/fly because of it's physique. Sylveon doesn't seem to have any hint of a flying element.

Evolves from Rapidash while at a high altitude holding a Fire Horn.

Rapidash gains a set of wings - featuring orange and pale yellow feathers. When in danger, it's orange wings set on fire (in battle, when it's HP is in the red). It becomes taller and longer, with more orange marks on it's body.

Hoppip & Skiploom have a propeller, Jumpluff uses its fluffy cotton spores to float through the air, Mantine IsrslyDon'tKnow maybe cause manta fins look like wings..., Landorus is a legendary they defy the rules, though he's also a genie. genies float. and at the very least he has clouds on his feet.

(one of its moves being Aeroblast, as we can probably assume from the battle vids of Nympheon, unless that's Hyper Beam, but that could really look like Hyper Beam...)

Aeroblast is Lugia's signature move. There's no way an Eeveelution, which is still a normal Pokemon, would suddenly gains the ability to learn a Legendary's signature move.

I think it's more likely that the shooting move it used on Hariyama is either a new move, or it's just Focus Blast.

LOLOL

I'll admit, this case [Sylveon] is particularly nauseating. I can look past the equally confusing mascot legendaries; they're just as enigmatic in terms of what their typing could be. But dangit, Sylveon... What the heck are you? :p

The move used on Hariyama is most likely Double-Edge.
Sylveon isn't shooting something, she turns into a ball (like the animation for fly) and rams the opponent.

making it another Normal-Type move, like the other moves she has shown.

Who's the daddy? Me!
My hopes:

1) A flying/ fire evolution for Rapidash.
2) A common pre- evolution for Miltank and Tauros. (It evolves into Miltank if female and Tauros if male)
3) A male counterpart for Kangaskhan.
4) A peacock/ peahen pokemon hving 3 stage evolutionary line.

I would like to see this one. Burning alicorn FTW

ah yeah, after I look at it again, she does disappear when the ball is formed.

Which means it is even less likely that it is Aeroblast :p

Wait, what about sylveon stat spread which stat will get the 130 and 110? the two 65 95 and 60 I really hope just one of the offenses is 60 and if it's offensive then one offense is either 130/110 I think the 130 will be speed matching jolteons' speed.

110 will be probably HP or one of the offenses it sems more like a special attacker to me.. 60 would be in the other stat and 65 might be the defense
95 probablly will be the sp.defense since it doesn't look too defensive in short I think it would have jolteon like stats what do you think?

since you aren't a mod you don't have the authority to tell us what we can or can't talk about anyways even though it is completely relevant to the topic

Oh trust me, even the mods sometimes don't like you talking about things that are completely relevant to the topic. *sarcastic smile*

If Sylveon does come in a pair with another Eeveelution I feel kind of sorry for it. Not only is it revealed second, like an afterthought, but its counterpart is involved in the movie. This leads me to think that maaaaaybe there isn't another Eeveelution. Why would they give us one giftwrapped only one month after 6th gen reveal, and hide the other away with no movie promotion like a red-headed stepchild?

It seems a shame to break the 'pair, with one supereffective against the other' tradition though.

I'd love a T-Rex (One that looks like a T-Rex)

YES. To more dino-based pokes in general, also. The fossils are way too concerned with plant life, bugs, sea creatures etc. I want me some angry dino pokemon.
