Maybe the organic beetle could have obtained rusty armor in order to adapt for survival?

Sounds interesting. Maybe it's an old beetle? Or it uses discarded bits of armor.

Ice type pokemon are much better as attackers than being defensive, and I really hope more pokemon in this gen get access to ice shard, what I find weird is cryogonal got ice shard while Beartic didn't. Beartic has base 110 physical attack while cryogonal has base 50 physical attack. Gamefreak logic

Moves are given based on how appropiate they are to the design not the stats or movepool of the pokemon. Otherwise every pokemon in the game would learn Judgement.

I like that. first, larva or young beetle, n or armor yet, middle grown beetle-good armor, final-old, rusty armor.

yeah but weavile and mamoswine get ice shard and they are not based on snowflakes, plus Beartic gets aqua jet.

That's partly to do with the whole 'Ice type moves are good, but Ice types suck' thing. It's a horrid defensive type yet its the only type immune to Hail and the only type that can truly abuse it. With Rain, you have Water and Electric types, as well as a few pokemon that appreciate the nerf to Fire moves and vice versa with Sun and its Fire and Grass types. Sand is a bit more limiting because of residual damage but three types are immune to it so its fine. Hail just takes all the drawbacks of Sand and amplifies them by focusing upon single, bad type.

It's not so much that Ice as a whole sucks; it's more along the lines of there aren't enough of them that are good. I think there's maybe 12 viable (out of 33 total) ice types if you include Arceus-ice plate, Kyurem, and Kyurem W/B. Even then, you can't really make a decently balanced team since most of them either have **** defensive stats or terrible supportive move pools. I mean yeah you've got Froslass for trick lead, Glaceon for wish-support, Cloyster has Rapid Spin/Spikes, and Weavile makes a good revenge killer, but after that you start having to rely on Uber tier pokes, Choice items, or Trick Room to able to use any of the rest of them. If we had more Ice/Ghosts (hell at this point I'd be open to Ice/Psychic) to keep conk from just straight tearing it a new *** every time you fight one and a GOOD Snow Warning poke for the pokes that have Ice Body (since you can't use Snow Veil in hail) Ice/Hail might become a decent team to run :/

Yeah, the only way Ice will ever be able to hold its own defensively would be if it was paired with Steel. Even then Fire and Fighting really hurt it. I'm pretty sre an Ice type will always have atleast 3/4 weaknesses.

All this talk of a mechanical beetle Pokémon has got me thinking of the Beetle item from Skyward Sword. I could just imagine it looking something like that. But, with more of that Pokémon charm to it. And, with Poison/Steel and Levitate, this thing would be tough to take down, as its only weakness would be Fire.

Why levitate?

Well, we can take out Levitate. It would be overdoing it, since I can't see how that beetle can levitate.

Which is a shame. I'm interested to see Fairy's types matchups, because maybe Ice/Fairy could be a good defensive combo.

Me either. battle armor or something would make more sense.

Would ne nice, but I think they're both opposite ends of the spectrum so it may just add more stuff. If we believe the rumours it would be weak to Steel x4, Poison, Fire, Rock, possibly Fighting. Although I'd like for Fairy to resist Ice and Fairy. So an Ice/Fairy would be a really good Ice counter, a great wall to pair up with the Dragons.

Your avatar is of a levitating mechanized tyranno-bug, so...

I really want the Snorunt Line to make a reappearance preE4. (Glalie Ice/Fairy then)
Also Cherubi/Surskit/Smoochum/Mime Jr. Cherrim, Masquerain, Jynx and Mr Mime need an evolution.

Masquerain has a great movepool but horrid stats, if it gets an evo it's probs going to be the next johnny badass bug-type

A slug that evolves into a snail sounds cool. I'm surprised they haven't done this already as the regional bug tbh (I dont count slugma as it's lava). They always seem to go with butterflies/moths.

I like the idea of a slug but it should not be a bug type it should be a water type if not lava and it would be well Gastradon... slugs are related to squid and other mollusks in other words as close to bugs as a bird or mammal. I'd like a fly or a wasp(not a bee a wasp) perhaps a parasitic wasp... a termite or roach could be cool too... maybe we could get a millipede to go with the centipede we got in ten 5... Oh or a Damselfly(bug/water anyone?! There are many good bugs that aren't butterflies or moths that don't force us to misclassify creatures as bugs. I think every bug type should be an arthropod and if they were to do one of every bug lineage we would have more bug types than anything else!!!
