well because there is an actual pronunciation of Skept" in Skeptical while Scept would be sound similar to "cept" in except along with the sound of "s"

My life is a lie.

Fan of sceptile, eh? I learned from the show I guess.

Also, if it makes you feel better-I call verdanturf 'vetranof'. That's how I read it the first time.

I'm right there with you, I always thought it was a play on the word skeptical. I found out awhile ago, flipping through tv.
OT: I will be nicknaming my Talonflame Flareow. Talonflame is the first Pokemon name I really don't like. It's literally just two words together, which is troubling since most Pokemon names are clever portmanteaus.

I think it might be a play on the words Flare and Sparrow. not sure though.

if it'll fit I'm calling mine Blazing Angel

Sounds likely.

^It kinda is. I like the name.

You think we can get the fishing rod earlier this gen? I think it was a horrible idea to give a fishing rod so late in the game. I want to be able to have access to water pokemon early in the game when I'm choosing Chespin as my starter. I don't care if I only have access to Magikarp. It's better than nothing. Or maybe this gen will give us an equivalence to Magikarp. It gets annoying having to find a pokemon that learns Surf for the HM when water pokemon is barely accessible. The lack of water pokemon in the first Black and White game was very disappointing.

that sounds a bit weird because of the fact that there are more water pokemon than any other type but I see what you mean. I love water types so I wanted to do a run in white 2 with oshawott, tympole, frillish and 3 other random pokemon but they aren't accessible very early on.
and I definitely hope that isn't an issue when X and Y come around because I want to be able to conquer Kalos with my water-types.

I know there are lots of water pokemon, but the first Black and White game was Unova exclusive pokemon and the only water type I recall being able to catch early was the Tympole. Tympole wasn't much to brag about. I hated how I had to deal with all those fisherman with Basculin while I couldn't fish for anything til after the Elite 4. That was just unfair. I love water pokemon because they learn lots of cool moves and they tend to be my dragon slayers due to the Elite 4 or later on trainers using them a lot. Hope we get that dolphin pokemon ^_^. I think it's time we get a dolphin pokemon. We already have whales, angler fish, and corals. Why not dolphins?

How about giving Corsola an evolution? Corsola's stats aren't too great. I always wanted to use one because it was cute, but her stats are just so...mediocre.

I agree! although I do love the tympole line I can see why others would like other options.
and yes I would love a corsola evo, as well as a dolphin pokemon as long as it's not just half of a dolphin (lol at sharpedo's attempt at being a shark)

Fishing was most likely made post game in 5th gen because the introduction of rippling water meant that they would have twice as many wild Pokemon to fit in water routes, they probably won't bring it back to the way it was before unless they do something about the rippling water.
