Diamond/Pearl Graphics (Opinions)

Hero of Legend

Advanced Missingno.
Really, since Diamond and Pearl are using sprites again, instead of full 3D battles like the Stadium/Colosseum/XD games, Pokemon spriting has gone next-gen, with more complex colours and shading than ever before!

I was happy that D/P are supposed to use sprites. I just like sprites better than 3d models. I bet they animate too.

Yeah, I like how they did the sprites this time around. They can show so much more detail and depth now.

one love
Not only do I like the sprites, I also like the battle scene in which they are presented. The nice, open, no-frills field will allow me to appreciate the craft that was put into drawing them rather than having them all shoved on an uncomfortably small screen. Elbow room is good. :D

I'm liking the new style as well; strangely, I find it more cartoony and more realistic at the same time.

you know, the graphics actually look like they've been handdrawn by Sugimori himself o_O;

I'm also glad that they used sprites again. Though we only have seen two pokemon , I think that they have put lots of detail and good work into those sprites. I doubt that they'll be animated, 'cause I think there will also be an "improved" version (like Emerald, Crystal and Yellow), where they will use the animated sprites as a new feature. But it would be cool.

I love sprites, so this is a good thing for me.
You know, the game looks kind of like a GBA game, just a little bit.

I Love the style. I was afraid that it would be too 3D and realistic, yet this is a perfect blend of 2d and 3d. I can't wait to make new sprites using these ^^

I think we all gave a sigh of relief when we first saw these images. I'm totally loving the style! The mixture of 2D and 3D, I love it! I'm so glad they didn't get rid of the pokemon sprites.

Hypnotize...
I don't know... I was kinda expecting a more "ranger" type of graphics. And I expected the battle system to be... different. I dunno. I guess I had really high expectations for diamond/pearl, especially the battle screen/ animations, considering the double screens. Heck, I even wanted the trainers to be present in the battles!

Not the color
I love sprites, they will be better then ever and will maybe move and stuff like the Emerald pokemon pics.

I think it looks like that to you because it's a scan.

Agreed. *Stretches*

3D Images would have killed it, they would have had to change the entire look of the battle scenes all together, at least here we have the familliar scene from the other games, The sprites are beutifull and the addition of bright colors and moving attacks and animation is awesome, i hope they made the sprites actualy move like in crystal and emerald, and even have them perform the attacks in the battle scene's.

*is very much relieved that all the bad ideas like "aiming" attacks with the stylus have finally been put to their death*

I can't say for sure, but it looks like these sprites still comply with the restrictions of a 16 colour palette. I was imagining the D/P sprites looking less aliased than this. On the bright side, it does signify that a GBA 4th-gen support patch isn't ruled out.

I am so glad that they made sprites. I was afraid that it would be like pokemon stadium or something whcih probably would've ruined it

The sprites look pretty nice. Hopefully, when you are able to transfer all your Pokemon from FR/LG/Ru/Sa/Em, they have different 'behind-view' sprites than the ones they have been using since Ruby and Sapphre -_-
