Diamond/Pearl to R/S/E/FR/LG?

Diamond and Pearl will be DS games, and the DS uses Wifi, but the current GBA pokemon games do not link up via Wifi, yet I've heard that you should be able to link up D/P to R/S/E/FR/LG. So how would they link up to trade/battle etc? Any suggestions?

insert 3rd gen GBA game in GBA slot
then trade

Nintendo DS has two slots remembered?

Trading will probably work like it did between RBY and GSC: anything can go to D/P, but only old Pokemon without new moves or items can be sent back...

It's what Volteon said; you simply but both games into the same DS.
