Did I do something wrong?

My main team was in a tourny for the first time and was obliterated pretty much in the first match... It was a double battle match.

However I did see one interesting combination in another person's match... Spikes/Stealth Rock and Sandstorm. It was interesting to watch ^^

I'm still learning about EV training and I don't really understand how much natures factor in (I get the basics but if it's only a small percent of a difference does it really matter?)

Anyways.. here's the layout of my team:

Honchkrow (f)
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Super Luck
Attacks:
Steel Wing
Dark Pulse
Fly
Psychic

Scizor (f)
Nature: Lax
Ability: Swarm
Attacks:
Aerial Ace
Night Slash
X-Scissor
Iron Head

Infernape (m)
Nature: Careful
Ability: Blaze
Attacks:
Grass Knot
Flamethrower
Rock Slide
Close Combat

Lapras (m)
Nature: Rash
Ability: Shell Armor
Attacks:
Shockwave
Body Slam
Ice Beam
Brine (was surf but switched it b/c of DB)

Luxray (f)
Nature: Hardy
Ability: Rivalry
Attacks:
Iron Tail
Thunderbolt
Crunch
Thunder Fang

Girafarig (m)
Nature: Hasty
Ability: Early Bird
Attacks:
Stomp
Crunch
Energy Ball
Psychic

Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear.

If I were you, I'd quite CB until you've learnt about Natures and EVs completely.

The reason you did so bad was because all your Pokemon are completely the wrong natures, for a start, and it appears that you didn't EV train them at all.

I'd suggest reading the Serebii Nature and EV guide over and over and over again until you understand it 100%. :)

Careful Infernape? Ouch, that's bad. Depending on your moves, Lonely or Mild nature would be better for him :(

Why do the natures matter so much? o.o?

And there stats are maxed so far... vitamins won't work anymore ><;

Natures matter drastically.

I was on another forum that said that the natures really don't mess with the stats that much....

And even with the natures being off my infernape can still survive attacks like water spout and surf in PBR (it did at the CB tourney too which caught my opponent off guard slightly ^^)

I learned about ev training when they were around lvl 40s...but I tried it and it doesn't seem to be any different from normal training... oO

Natures cause stats to be higher or lower. Yes, it makes a large difference. May I ask wjat was hitting your Infernape with those attacks? Seriously, their natures and stats must have been god awful. It's not that your Infernape is exceptional. It's that their Pokemon is god awful.
And your EV training doesn't seem different because a. You started so late, so most of it was already taken up, and b. the stat boosts don't kick in until level 100.

You need to stop going to that forum.
you said:

You tried it too late.

There's some decent reading material for you. In a nutshell, for each Pokemon you beat, you get an EV point or more. The most EV points you can have is 510.

Vitamins work with EVs. It's always ALWAYS best to start EV training from the moment you get your Pokemon. I didn't know about the whole nature thing after I raised my original Blaziken. It was Bashful and had horrible stats because I Rare Candied him. Then I raised another girl Blaziken that was IMPISH- if only I'd known before I'd raised her to Level 100. She was even WORSE!

Natures matter drastically- for example, you want a special sweeper Roserade. MODEST would be the best nature as you can take the stats from Attack which it wont be using to back up Special Attack for extra sweeping power.

1.Never give those vitamins to your pokemon because they give a maximum EV of 100, when your full potential is 255 in each stat.
2.Natures increase and decrease two fixed stats by 10% simultaneously.
3.Don't feel let down, you can either start with a fresh new team with perfect natures and proper Evs, or carry on with this team 'cause pokemon is not the best or the most important thing in your life, is it?

I advise a fresh start, you can breed Pokemon with better moves, natures and EVs- I understand if you don't want to, I'm a perfectionist </3

^^; thanks everyone for the imput...it's kinda late to start fresh though... I've put too much into the game and have nearly completed the 'dex

(No the game isn't the most important thing; it's just a good stress reliever (I work full time, attend the Artist Alley at some local conventions, and go to school; so for me its a way to calm myself down and relax))

I guess it's a good thing my sis doesn't play her Pearl game... I restarted it so I'll use that for EV training (hopefully I'll figure it out ^^; ) I also just got Fire Red so I'll ty to do so on there too =3 And since I always build up teams and then transf for my Emerald it can be my guinea pig too ^^
(side note: Pokemon was the first video game I ever loved <3 (we're talking way back in the RBY saga))

Remember me from RSE
Everyone is talking about your Natures and EVs but you need to go right down to basics - everyone of those movesets is horrible.

You can find good movesets at:
www.smogon.com
Then click Stratergy Dex.
