Another nostaligia based thread. Cast your minds back to when you first got into Pokémon, most likely when it was at the height of its popularity. Did you enjoy it more then, when you could ask practically anyone for a battle and they would get out their old fat GB original, and play you? Even with the cruddy graphics and lack of Pokémon, to some people, that was the golden age of Pokémon.

On the other hand, nowadays we have 386 Pokémon with many more on the way, a huge variety of moves, Netbattle and other online games, and incredible graphics, even on the portable.

So which did you prefer? The early days, or now? Discuss!

Now. >< the good ol' days? The graphic wasn't as "omg excellent." as it is now, and there were only like, 3 pokemon. Oo;

[/exxageration]

Plus the episodes back then were like "zzz..." Oo;

In the early days, Pokemon was still fresh and new. The Color Generation was a clasic, you cant get past that. The Metal Generation brought it a step forward with *UNIQUE* New pokemon, and a new element to play with the MysteryGift feature, aslo that Gender Option, and Shiny thing. The Gem generation, however, even though it introduced some new systems and mechanics, the New pokemon were all rehashes of oldies.
All and all, Old through middle, then FR/LG

true zeon i agree with you

PKMN is better now, playing G/S though is VERY fun, i do it sometimes in my spare time.

The present and the past both have their advantages. On one hand I do generally prefer the older episodes, and it was certainly nice when it was ok to like Pokémon without instantly being labeled by society.

Then again, there have been some great episodes and movies since then which I wouldn't have been able to see back when they weren't made yet.

I certainly enjoy my nostalgia, moreso than the average fan I would say. But living always in the past is not preferable.

w00t.

G/S can be fun. <3 I like the daytime/nighttime effect. ;X

But in the Hoenn ones, the attack effects are awesome.

I love the good old days. It was fresh and new, but I also love the newest series and games. I think the show has improved from the previous seasons and some of the characters where developed more now. Lots of my favorite pokemon came from the newest pokemon group.

I like them both equally, really.

Final Flash

I've still got it.
Yeah, I love just Ash, Misty Brock, Team Rocket Pikachu and the cool pokemon. I miss it, and now I think there going overboard.

Volteon

I do love the old days, where everyone loved pokemon, there wasn't that much to catch, and it was just, so awesome

but then again, now we have my favourate pokemon and double battles and contests.

FR/LG brang us back to the olden days,which I love! so I will vote the second option

I think the older days were fun, but right now it is awesome! They had some pretty cool games and the episodes were top notch, but now the games are even cooler and the episodes are pretty good.

I also liked the older days because they were unique.....>.>
now I just hate it. Too advanced; that annoys me.

During the "Good Old Days" I wasn't that in to pokemon as I only had the games. Now that I am in to it more than I was I know much more about it even though I prefer the "Good Old Days" as you wouldn't get made fun of much as often for liking pokemon. I am probably the only person in my grade that knows what a Jirachi is.

I'd say the more newer generation appeals to me more than the old one. I dunno... I just seem to like the pokemon more now.

While I loved RBY and GSC, I liked RS more. Although I gotta hand it to RBY, they have the best gym leaders. ><

I actually find it really surprising how many people prefer it now then before.

Back in the day, you could just bring your cards with you to the mall and you'd almost always find someone to trade with. Even totally unrelated shops were selling packs and single cards. The league was different, too. Even though I find contentment with the ~20 people overall we have at the leage now, the old gamekeeper league usually had at least 50 people, off the available tables and onto the floor. That was also the time when I had my favorite deck of all time, for which my previous username was named after. The STS's were great, too. Having hundred after hundred after hundred of players just having a great time.

Whoa that was pretty much. o_O

The only thing I miss was having pokemon friends. Now days it's hard to find people who are obsessed with pokemon and aren't like 7 years old. (Even a 7 year old pokemon fan can be hard to find... )

But now there is such a variety of pokemon and so many new things you can do in the games. Most pokemon sprites don't look deformed either.
