Did your favorite character get good screentime in your opinion?

I'm happy with how they handled Haruka overall. But I'm kinda upset that she didn't get as much as Hikari is getting. D: But I guess it's because Haruka was the writer's first time with a co-star, so they didn't really know how to do it at first.

But overall, I loved Haruka's story and how she was handled. And she did get enough screentime for me, as she was in every episode of AG pretty much ..but sometimes it upsets me that they didn't focus on her as much as they are with Hikari, but ah well. Like I said up there, she was the first co-star with another story.

While it would be nice to see Jirarudan have a second appearence, I have the sneaking suspicion that the writers couldn't be trusted with him again. He was brilliant in the movie, the fine line between self-absorption and egocentrisim, and between greed and evil, and was intelligent however not very bright, and his unwillingness/inability to consider what happened outside the confines of the comfortable world he had built for himself was ultimately his downfall.

But I have the feeling that if they brought him back they'd make him really evil, which he *could* become, but I think such a thing would require someone leading him down that path (same for heroism for that matter. I figure he's more Chaotic Neutral than anything else).

Although it would have been nice to not have to rely on his image song to get all that "within himself" stuff, so they could have stood to put it in the movie to begin with.

Well, it's one of those ironic events; I don't really have much of an actual character interest, I'm more of the... "main character" interest. No, not the human characters, but the real stars of the show, the Pokemon. Yeah, I know kind of defeats the purpose, but honestly, I've never actually had much to them. I've kind of just went along with whatever the writers chose to create the characters in and either liked it, or was annoyed by it.

That being said, honestly I'd say any game rendition to the show they handle fairly. However, they could've done more with Brendan besides the two cameo appearances he had. Then again, that's just me being a sucker for seeing these game transitions.

Anyways, Breloom's 22 minutes of fame was awesome. Sure, its pre-evolution Shroomish had a middling filler episode before, but the writers made it up completely by having Breloom play a major role in giving Torchic some tough love, motivating it to evolve and become stronger. The Combusken/Breloom fight and its conclusion in which they shook hands and respected each other is still to me one of the most awesome moments in the entire series. Many Pokemon end up getting episodes that don't do them justice (Armaldo, for one), but they made Breloom a very worthy character of the day.

If you're referring to human characters, I'll just nod my head nonchalantly in agreement with Kit Kat.

I'm inclined to believe the former...

I really don't have a "favorite" character (I am speaking of the main cast); I like them all equally. They each have and had their high and low points in the show, and to me, it shows that the writers have no desire to turn any of them into Mary Sues or Gary Stus.
But, there are some things I wish they could have done to expand the characters more, so I'm so-so.

I have a few ingame characters that I really like but many didn´t have a huge part in the anime or weren´t shown at all OR were too different from the *****, so I´ll leave them out and talk about characters I like in the anime form:

My favourite character has to be Kojiro and while he is shafted in DP in terms of doing someting on his own ( Musashi has the whole contest arc going for her, hell even in the summer school arc she did a LOT more), but in retrospective it would be stupid to say that he didn´t get enough screen time. But I want him to enter a contest or something like the Pokéringer competition.

My second favourite human character was and probably is Haruka. And being the first real co-star besides Satoshi, she got more than enough screen time. She got kinda bland in the BF-saga, but I enjoyed seeing her in DP again. I few Pokémon sunday specials about her would have been nice though.

As for Pokémon? Well, my favourite is Whiscash and it had a few very cool episodes. Its debut was one of the funniest episodes ever and it had a cool Gym battle. Too bad the barboach filler was never shown...

Mira/Miru was my favorite character and she didn't get treated right. Why did she get one episode while Cheryl gets three? It not fair if you ask me. Mira's episode was well done but couldn't they gave her a 3 parter.

Well I can hardly blame the writers for not considering Honchkrow more, since he's on Paul's team and Paul only really uses Electabuzz / Magmar / Torterra (that is when he does meet with Ash).

Oh well, maybe Cyrus has a Honchkrow.

In fact, we need a whole filler dedicated to Honchkrows!!!

My favorite character...Brock. Yeah, you all know how that turns out. At least he's being handled (slightly) better than in previous sagas, IMO.

Heck, most of my favourite characters are my favourites because of their limited screentime. If pachirisu were as overused as piplup, he'd probably not be as cool. And the fact that I like happiny and sudowoodo slightly more than croagunk probably stems from the fact that we get to see croagunk more often.

As for the show on a whole, my preferred human characters have had it good. Team Rocket, (to which Meowth's my favourite member) have had some good screentime, they just weren't used to the best at times, and Misty (that's right, Misty was one of my favourites) did get a good amount of screentime, though a lot of it was just being Misty as opposed to really affecting the plot (but I didn't care, because I didn't analyze this kind of thing until I got to this site). The only one who didn't get it all that great was (guess who?) Brock. But then again, if Brock did as much battling and winning as Ash or May did, then I probably wouldn't like him as much as I do. Again, I do like characters who make less appearances (especially when it comes to pokemon) because they're less in your face than overused ones.

Dawn is getting the best treatment of all the girls in terms of spotlight. Its like every other episode she stars in another ep.

Dawn has only been here for 100 eps so far, but before you know it she'll have 200 episodes under her belt.

My favorite character in the show was and still is Drew. I did very much enjoy his part in the show, even if I craved for more episodes involving him that were not contest-related (like the Wynaut and Arcanine episodes). However, I think the writers gave him justice and in the few episodes he was in, they turned his character around so he wasn't the same throughout, which I thought was great as far as character developement (and attention!) goes.

As for my favorite Pokemon, I can't say it's had it rough. Pikachu's been in every episode and in every one it's adorable, kickass, and the epitome of power despite it's size. It proves, on occasion, that it is not all about Raichu and that it can be better than Raichu by just being Pikachu. :3
As for some of my other favorites - like Fearow and Raticate - I don't like how they're always treated like antagonists, especially the former.

Although I do believe the writers kind of did May justice, I'm kind of sad, because May got new fans so excited back in the Game Boy Advance Generation, and to see her go from hyped to almost forgotten is depressing. The fact that Misty has a louder cult, er, fanbase despite having an extra 4 years away (not to mention 4Kids' continued obsession with her through early Advanced) and the "obsolete twerp" line only serves to heighten that disappointment. Now I understand why Piplup of Bulbagarden is so eager to argue against the notion of Dawn leaving, because it would be an even bigger fall if Dawn became forgotten going from her crazy hype now.
