i used to have colosseum ages ago. i recently got back into pokemon and im looking to get one of the gamecube games. for battling my gba team, im not really interested in the main quest.

are there any differences in the battle modes? is XDs more extensive or pretty much the same as colo's? because i can get colo a lot cheaper

in XD the battles in adventure mode are much more difficult since you get to snag lots of shadows at once instead of one per person and Mt. battle has higher-level pokemon than the colo version in the story mode.

sorry, i guess i wasnt clear enough.

i dont mean the story mode - i mean the battle mode, seperate from the story mode. Where you link your GBA team and compete in different 'cups'. I remember colo's, but is XD's better? Like, more extensive, with more cups, flexible rules, AI, or is it kinda the same?

I'm afraid there is no Battle Mode in XD. The only thing that comes close is the Orre Colosseum in Story Mode, which works pretty much like the Battle Frontier in Emerald, and there are only a total of 7 sets, 4 rounds each.

So, if you're really keen about the Battle Mode aspect only, I suggest you get Colosseum instead, unless you're hoping to fight Kanto pokemon, which aren't really that abundant in the Orre Colosseum either.

ah, thank you. colosseum it is then.

it seems to me like the console pokemon games are getting progressively worse. I saw old Stadium 2 videos on gamespot the other day, and it seems a lot more fun than colosseum. Yeah, the graphics aren't as good TECHNICALLY, but who cares about that? the animations were a lot cooler and there was commentary! Colosseum has no commentary and is so slow and has a crappy vibe. And XD apparently has NO battle mode. Ugh, what next? No BATTLING? A game where you have hardly any control, where you just sit back and watch pokemon do 'cute' and 'funny' things, like watching TV? oh yeah i forgot they already have that.
