Conrad couldn't believe what had just happened. He had just been preparing to play his video game when he had heard a thundering voice telling him he was chosen. Before he could react he was whisked away to a strange forest. The trees had moved and laughed at him. He had pinched himself numerous times, thinking it was all a horrible dream, but he never woke up. Then a large panda had appeared, kindly greeted him, and then escorted him to a great castle.
Conrad could now hardly take his eyes off the four giant Digimon in front of him. They had told him some ludicrous tale that he and these eleven other humans, teamed up with twelve 'Digimon' as they were called, were going to save the 'Digital World' from an evil Digimon. He listened to the tale intently, even though he didn't believe it. He wasn't going to call them liars though. Conrad was shy enough around average humans, let alone four intimidating giant beasts.
Conrad was still staring up at the largest of the creatures, a long blue dragon covered in chains, who had introduced itself as Lord Naga, when he heard another voice behind him.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Guilmon...who are you?"
Conrad turned around to find himself face to face with a creature that looked like a cross between a small red dinosaur and a dragon. It had numerous black markings along its body, the least of which was a large triangular one on its underbelly. It had large ears and sharp teeth and claws, which Conrad thought could do a lot of damage. On its right arm was a small purple band. Conrad didn't know the significance of it.
The creature, or Guilmon, had spoken with a deep growling voice that had scared Conrad, but it was now beaming at him.
It doesn't look too bad. It seems friendly enough, Conrad thought to himself.
Despite his belief that Guilmon wouldn't hurt him, Conrad continued to stare warily at its claws as he responded to Guilmon's question.
"My name's Conrad. Nice to meet you too," he said shyly, extending out a hand to shake with Guilmon's claw.
Conrad couldn't understand it. He found it easier to talk to this strange reptilian monster then anyone else he had ever met.
