Digimon Masters (PG-13)

Hyper Tails

Power of Seven Chaos
I've decided to try out a writing style different my usual one. Hopefully it's one you'll all like better. I won't change my other fics already posted, but I'll continue to use it for this one, and quite possibly future ones.

Anyway, this is a completely original story I though up involving Digimon. I took a few aspects from Pokemon Ranger, Digimon Tamers, and various other sources to create this one, but the idea is generally my own. I hope you enjoy it!

Digimon Masters

*Rated PG-13 for violence, use of blood, and language.

Prologue:

Long ago the world was born, and alongside it was a parallel world, a Digital World to be precise. The two worlds were similar in many aspects, giant landmasses known as continents, large body of waters known as oceans and seas, creatures living amongst it and everything else you can guess existed. While the Digital World had technology and cities, most of it seemed as if it was a land pulled right out of feudal Japan.

However, unlike the Real World where humans existed as the dominant species, building civilizations and increasing technology, creatures known as Digital monsters, or Digimon, inhabited the Digital World. The Digimon began as eggs known as Digi-Eggs, and hatched into a level of Digimon known as the Fresh stage. After the Digimon has aged a little bit, it changes, or digivovles, into a larger and stronger form known as the In-Training stage. After either aging more or gaining experience from battle, it becomes bigger and stronger again, changing to the Rookie-level. The process continues through Champion, Ultimate, and the cream of the crop, Mega. Of course, there are several other variations of digivolution as well, such as Mode Change, Armor Digivolve, DNA Digivolve, etc. Each Digimon also has it’s own unique traits, abilities, and attacks.

The whole world was divided into four regions: the Northern Region, the Southern Region, the Eastern Region, and the Western Region. Each region was divided into three sub-regions. The sub-regions each had a Digimon assigned to watch over it, one of the Ultimate-level. These three Digimon ruled over their terrain, and only answer to the Mega-level Digimon who ruled over each region. The four Mega Digimon who ruled over each region answered to ones of greater power known as the Sovereigns. The four Sovereigns each watched over a region as well, but mainly keep the land alive, and not taking the time for any rule. Rumor also speaks of a Digimon of even greater power, the God of all Digimon, who rules over the four Sovereigns. However, nobody has ever truly seen this Digimon, and many believe it to be a myth. Just the same, rumors also tell about an evil Digimon of equally great power, though it too has never been seen.

For thousands of years the two worlds have coexisted side-by-side, each never knowing about it’s twin. And for the most part, things were better this way. However, the Digital World soon began experiencing it’s own trouble, just as the Real World had constantly done on its own over the years. But, this was different. The rulers of the regions, for some unknown reason, became darker and more concerned about power and ruling the regions. Due to the Sovereigns priorities, they could do nothing to help. The Digimon didn’t seem to mind, but they never realized the horrors that would fall upon their world.

Prophecy foretells of human beings being the only ones capable of quelling the evil that plagues the land. But, the Digimon know nothing of humans, what they are, where they are, what they look like, anything. Nor do they even know about their parallel twin. Humans likewise have no knowledge of the Digital World, and with the way they are, it’s for good reason. Still, one wonders what would happen if humans fell upon the world of Digimon. Would they be willing help with things they know nothing about? Would they live up to their reputation and show the Digital World what true evil would be? Or would they simply just want to go home?

Foolish questions they are all, as humans never stepped foot in the Digital Plain of existence…until one year ago!

These mysterious humans wound up in the Digital World through unknown means, and simply want to go home. Using mysterious gadgets known as Digivices, they are able to temporarily tame wild Digimon and use them for their own purposes. They simply want to go home, but their means of doing so make Digimon all but willing to lend a helping hand. Not strong enough and in dire need of help, the four humans prayed for help, and one day stumbled upon another Digivice. Upon touching it, the Digivice was sent to the Real World, and the humans hoped that the human who found it would be the one who could help them get home.

This is where our story begins!

Power of Seven Chaos
Chapter 1: Welcome to the Digital World!

There was nothing but darkness. A 14 year-old boy with black hair, short enough that the sides barely reached his ears, lay in center of a world of complete darkness. His hair was flat, parted down the center with two slightly longer strands of hair above his open forehead, sticking out a teensy bit. He wore a gray T-shirt with a black line going down the mid-left side. In the middle of the line was a lone white line. His pants were shorts, a dark blue color. He also wore a pair of ordinary white tennis shoes. He lay in the center of the darkness, his right arm above his head, the left by his side. His right hand was clenching something tightly. The boy continued asking himself, “Where am I?”

It was then that a glorious white light illuminated the darkness. The boy lifted his head up and peered off towards the distance with his brown-tinted eyes. His face was gorgeous for such a young lad, a peach color with a small nose curved ever so perfectly, not a blemish on his skin. The boy’s eyebrows curved around his eyes as the boy looked on with amazement as the light engulfed him.

“Wake up!” a young male voice called. The boy lifted his head as if he had just fallen asleep, looking around curiously for the source of the voice. Again the voice spoke, asking, “Are you okay?”

The boy looked to right to see a pinkish colored bouncing ball next to him. However, something was unusual about it. Not only did it have two long and floppy rabbit-like ears, but a face as well. The eyes were large and red, and it had a long mouth lined with sharp teeth.

“Thank goodness, you’re alright! You had me worried there!” it spoke.

The boy jumped to an upright position, completely startled. He slowly inched his way back. “That thing…just talked!” he gasped. He continued crawling backwards until he hit something. He turned to find a large tree trunk, at the top was green leaves in the shape of pine tree, yet it was not one. In fact, the boy himself realized that he was in some kind of strange forest, noticing trees everywhere. “Where the hell am I?!?!?!” the boy screamed at the of his lungs.

The mysterious creature bounced its way over to the boy. “Why, you’re in Avian Forest, located in the Eastern Region of the Digital World!” the creature happily informed. “I’m Koromon, who are you?”

“Digital World?” the boy questioned. The creature continued to bounce happily, constantly repeating “Mm-hmm.” The boy realized that the creature was quite friendly, and decided to give an answer. “I’m Tatsu, Tatsu Kasei.”

“Tatsu? That’s a funny name for a Digimon!” laughed Koromon.
“What’s a Digimon?” asked Tatsu.
“A Digital Monster.”
“Sorry, but I’m a human.”
“What’s a human? A special type of Digimon?”
“I told you I’m not a Digimon!”
“You’re funny.”
“You’re hopeless.”

Tatsu heaved a sigh as Koromon laughed. It was then that he realized he had something in his right hand. His lifted his arm and opened his hand to find a strange electronic device. It was in a kind of upside-down egg shape, a screen located in the middle of the large part. The lower part contained five buttons, four smaller ones spread out like a square, and a large round one in the dead center. The color was black, with a red cover over the top. The sides of the device contained a small crevice, almost as if something like a credit card could be slid through it. On the back was a small hole, being a camera of some kind.

“What is this thing?” wondered Tatsu.
“T-That’s…” gasped Koromon, panicking at the sight of it, “A Digivice!”
“Digivice?” questioned Tatsu.

Koromon was speechless, unable to do anything but make noise.

“This day keeps getting weirder and weirder…” said Tatsu, “Maybe if I recap the events of the day I can figure out what happened.”

Tatsu recalled his daily events, remembering when he was at school. His head lay down on a desk, eyee closed. The desk had a blue chair with three long holes on the back of the seat, supported by two metal legs in the back. Connected to it on the right side was a wooden armrest of some sort, extending into a large wooden section of the desk, supported by two metal legs in the front.

SNAP!

The sound came from a ruler being broken on his desk. Tatsu’s head shot up as he saw a woman leaning over him. The woman’s face could not be made out, yet her body had a long-sleeved purple sweatshirt, and her legs were covered with long tan pants. Tatsu’s eyes focused mainly on the broken wooden ruler being tapped on the woman’s left hand, it held firmly in her right.

“Mr. Kasei!” scowled the woman, “I can understand that my lectures are boring enough to put one to sleep! That, however, does not mean one should do so in my class!”

Tatsu looked up towards the trees.

“That’s it, I’m dreaming!” he guessed.

Tatsu lifted his right hand and formed a fist, punching himself in the face. He fell to the ground and lifted himself back up. He rubbed his right cheek, now a red color from the impact.

“I’m awake…” he realized.
“Of course you’re awake silly!” laughed Koromon innocently.

Tatsu closed his eyes again as he tried to remember exactly what caused him to come to this mysterious place. He didn’t remember anything strange happening at school, so he skipped to when he was walking home.

He walked down the sidewalk of the big city, people hustling and bustling through the buildings, both tall and small. The sidewalks were of white concrete, lined with a selection of green trees spread out ever so perfectly from the previous one. He wore a green backpack, a standard backpack, nothing special about it. As he walked down the street, he remembered a strange voice call out to him. “You are the one!”

Tatsu’s head turned to his right, where he saw a dark alleyway that turned behind the building to his right. Again the voice called to him, “Tat..su!”. Tatsu was a bit freaked, but decided to follow the unfamiliar voice. It was there that he noticed the device he now held in his hand.

“That’s right!” gasped Tatsu.

Tatsu recalled when bent over to pick the device up. He had passed out. The next thing he knew, he was in some kind of world of darkness.

“I see,” Tatsu realized, “This thing must’ve taken me here when I touched it. But what exactly is it? This Digivice?”

CRACK!

Someone or something’s foot had stepped on a stick, causing it to snap in two. A woman’s voice spoke to Tatsu, “You’re the one who found the Digivice?”

Tatsu turned around as he saw a girl that appeared to be his age, or possibly a year older. Long blonde hair, tied back with a rubber band, flowed behind her. She wore a white short-sleeved shirt, the sleeves being pink, and blue jeans. Her shoes were a female sized version of Tatsu’s. She glared at Tatsu with piercing turquoise eyes, her face being extremely beautiful.

“You’re the great savior we all prayed for?” scowled the girl in a very cold tone, “How pathetic!”
“You’re, a human too?” gasped Tatsu.
“How observant…” the girl replied.

The girl noticed Koromon, who appeared to growling at her. “You…!”

The girl took out a Digivice from her pocket, identical to Tatsu’s, only with a yellow cover on the top. She held up the Digivice, focussing the camera’s lens on Koromon. The screen had lines going across it like a targeting system, focussing in on Koromon. The words, “Data Successfully Gathered” appeared on the screen. A image soon followed the message. The image was a data card, and the girl began reading it out loud.

“Koromon, an In-Training level Digimon…” said the girl.

The girl put the Digivice away. “I don’t need to know anymore, it’s obvious you’re of no use to me. Maybe if you were to digivolve you could help me out.”

Hearing the statement, Koromon ran away crying.

“That was harsh!” growled Tatsu.
“If a Digimon’s of no use, I have no reason to master it.” informed the girl.
“What do you mean ‘master’ it?” demanded Tatsu, “Who the hell do you think you are?!”

A loud roar interrupted the conversation as an orange Digimon, resembling a young Tyrannosaurus Rex about 2 ½ feet tall, appeared on the scene. Next to it was Koromon. The Digimon gave an angry glare at the humans with its blood-red eyes.

“Figures,” growled the Digimon, “Only humans would make my brother cry!”
“What’s a human?” asked Koromon.
“Monsters who use the Digivices I told you about to control Digimon!” answered Agumon.

The girl simply smirked and pulled the same process as she had with Koromon.

“Agumon, a Rookie-level Digimon. His attacks are Pepper Breath and Baby Burner. Definitely someone useful!” she read.

Agumon snorted, “As if I’d ever help a human!” Agumon formed a ball of flames in his mouth.

“Please brother, don’t hurt the boy!” begged Koromon, “He’s my friend!”

Agumon shot the fireball at the girl, whom simply jumped to the side to avoid it. She held her Digivice out. “Let me show you why I, Rin Satsuki, am going to be the one who gets us home! I suggest you watch closely, boy.”

Agumon prepared to attack again, Koromon bounced his way over to Tatsu and jumped into his arms, scared to death. Tatsu held him in a comforting manner as he observed Rin’s movements.

“Digi-Scan!” shouted Rin. The Digivice released a small laser from the camera that resembled one used to scan something like at a supermarket. It was long vertically and began at Agumon’s right side, Rin’s left. The beam scanned Agumon’s arm, which began to turn blue.

“W-What’s going on?” panicked Agumon, “I can’t move!”

Rin gave a smirk. “Ha, a Rookie like you can’t fight back with my experience!” The beam scanned Agumon’s entire body until he was entirely blue. The blue faded to its original color, and Agumon had his head looking down at the ground. The words “Scan Successful” appeared on the screen of the Digivice. Rin tapped the upper right button on the Digivice, causing the screen to change to an image containing two yellow bars. Above the top one read the words “Agumon’s Life,” the bar at full. The second one underneath it had the words “Time Remaining,” but the bar was only 90% full.

“Brother!” cried Koromon, “You witch! What have you done to him?”

Rin gave a small chuckle. “Relax, he’s fine. I simply tamed him for a short while. Not only is this helping my training, but I need his help to get back.” She turned to Agumon, asking, “Will you help?”

Agumon obediently nodded his head. Rin turned back to Tatsu, who was still holding Koromon. “You’re new to all of this, so why don’t you practice on Koromon? He’s so weak even you should be able to tame him on your first attempt if he puts up a struggle.” she suggested.

Tatsu brought his eyes down to Koromon, who looked up at him with signs of fear in his eyes. Tatsu noticed tears forming.

“Forget it,” answered Tatsu, “I would never force Koromon to do something he doesn’t want to do!”

Koromon was happy with the news, nudging his body up against Tatsu.

“Our prayers must not have been answered,” sighed Rin, “Somebody goofed up. When we saw that pillar of light from the forest, we all hoped for someone worthy. But that’s obviously not you! Either way, you’re stuck with us now, so I’d best take you back to the others.” Rin turned her back and began walking away. “You’d best stay close.”

Tatsu stood up. “Wait a second,” barked Tatsu, “Based on everything you’ve said, it sounds like you dragged me to this place!” Tatsu held Koromon tightly as he ran after Rin, grabbing her left shoulder with his right hand. “Why did you that?! Why did you bring me here? I never asked to come to this world!”

Rin took her right hand and grabbed Tatsu’s, brushing it off. She gave a deep breath. “None of us did,” she huffed, continuing to walk away.

Agumon followed behind Rin as they walked into the forest. Tatsu looked down at Koromon and nodded his head, following after her.

To be continued…

*Tatsu's name means Fire Born Dragon when his last name is placed in front of his first, like is done in Japanese culture.
