I really should’ve finished this sooner, 'cause now Niihyl beat me to it with the borderline psychopath thing. *shakes fist* Eh. Luckily these two don't seem to be all that similar otherwise, so I think it should be fine…?
Name: Renato “Ren” Vargas Rivera
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Appearance: Renato stands somewhat taller than other kids his age at 6’1’’. His skin color shows off his Spanish heritage, and he works out regularly to keep himself in tip-top shape. That is because while he usually dislikes work, if it’s in order to keep himself looking good, he’s all for it. He likes to pamper himself and believes appearances matter, after all.
His semi-short hair is dark brown in color and in what he likes to call an “organized mess”. That is, his hair sticks out every which way, but only because he likes it like that, as he abhors neat haircuts and finds them boring. His hair is slightly longer from the back, long enough to be gathered up in an extremely small, messy ponytail. Ren’s eyes are light sand-brown in color, and their gaze usually sharp. Both his ears have multiple piercings on them, as does his lower lip.
As far as his clothing goes, Ren always picks things both neat and comfortable for himself. He's not a fan of suits or anything difficult to move in, but neither does he like extremely baggy clothing that cover up too much. Usually he has on a simple, dark brown t-shirt depicting the silhouette of a gun and a human who’s just been shot in the head with said gun, with fitting splatters decorating the upper right corner of the shirt. He has black leather bracelets on each wrist with a few rings on his fingers. On his legs, Ren has on slightly baggy jeans with cargo pockets, held up by a dark brown belt. Finally, he wears black combat boots up to his ankles.
Personality: Ren is that guy standing in the middle of a crowd of people, chatting them up with a ridiculously huge smile plastered all over his face. He’s the guy who always thinks of something crazy to do when nobody else’s feeling it, and he’s the one to drag you along whether you like it or not.
He’s extremely sociable and likes to meet new people, especially outgoing, fun-loving ones, as they remind him of himself, and anything to do with him is just the coolest thing ever. Yes, he does think overly highly of himself, though it doesn’t show all that well in everyday conversations. Well, except maybe in that he loves the sound of his own voice, and is one to continue talking long after he’s been told to shut up. See, he has this pretty irritating tendency to just completely ignore anything he doesn’t like. Words, things, people… if he doesn’t like ‘em, screw ‘em, they don’t exist for him. Nothing out there is allowed to ruin his fun.
And that’s all Ren is about; fun. He loves to have a good time, loves being the center of attention and lives only in the moment with a complete inability to make any longtime plans or set goals. He’s competitive and always looking for a new challenge, and is the first one to jump into doing something new he hasn’t tried before because hey, you gotta try everything once, right? Well, except for physical labor, he’s allergic to that.
Flashy, loud, flirty and lacking any sense of personal space, it’s pretty hard to miss him wherever he goes. He’s friendly and overall seems like a pretty good guy, well, at least if you ignore all the little signs constantly telling you something is… a little wrong with him. For example, there was a time when his friend’s loved one died in a car crash, and while everyone else was busy giving their condolences and trying to cheer the poor guy up, Ren was sitting a bit further away, entertaining himself by audibly wondering exactly how the girl had died. Concussion? Did the glass shards fuck her face up before she died? Any broken bones, if so, where? He was quickly told off, and he was profoundly confused. Hey, he had just been wondering, geez. He was just curious, as violence, gore and the like fascinated him. They should have been thankful he was interested in them in the first place.
See, the thing is that Ren lacks any and all forms of empathy. He is unable to feel pity, compassion or anything of the sort towards anyone. It doesn’t mean he hates everyone, it simply means he doesn’t – that he’s unable to – really care about anyone. He likes his friends, yes, they’re fun to hang around with, but if someone asked him to give money to save all of their lives or something, he’d laugh and refuse, because what the hell? Who’d give something - anything - of their own to save someone else? Nope, doesn’t make any sense to him. There isn’t really any tragic story as to why he is like that, he’s just always lacked empathy. Born without a conscience, you could say. So while not exactly diagnosed as a psychopath, sociopath or one with ASPD, he certainly does fit some of the criteria alarmingly well.
His lack of empathy doesn’t mean he goes around hurting or killing people, but it means there isn’t really anything stopping him from doing so. Except, well, the simple fact that he doesn’t want to. He doesn’t find hurting people all that fun so he isn't one to do it, at least, not usually. Things are mighty different when he's mad, and that's when you might want to steer clear from him. After all, he has no emotional restrictions stopping him from doing whatever he wants to those he doesn’t like. He has no limits. No rules.
Luckily enough it’s not all that easy to get Ren pissed off however; he’s pretty laid back overall, preferring not to take anything seriously if he can help it, and so hurling insults at him will do nothing but make him snort and maybe throw a few insults back if he's feeling like it.
He does, however, have a certain dislike for moody people that refuse to lighten up even when he talks to them and drags them to have fun, especially if they audibly express their disinterest. There’s only so much boring gloominess he can take before he decides to force the other to have fun through his fists. Also, that thing about ignoring anything he doesn’t like? Yeah, if he has to ignore someone for too long (as in, they keep telling him to shut up no matter how many times he ignores them), he will eventually snap and take care of the annoyance through more physical means. He never stops smiling, however. He likes to smile, it makes him look good.
History: Renato was born in Malaga, Spain, as the younger of two siblings. His parents were busy, diligent people, who always strove to balance their immense workload and their responsibilities as parents. His father was an actor and his mother a singer, both of their work requiring the pair to travel a lot. They never left their kids alone at home however, and made sure that whenever they moved somewhere temporarily, Renato and his sister got to be with either of the two parents.
While Ren’s sister was an easy child to handle, Ren himself caused trouble from time to time. He was a quiet, usually well-behaved child, but there were some things that often caused alarm in his parents. Any and all small animals had to be kept away from little Ren for one, as he was prone to hurting them on accident during his playtimes and not really comprehending how severe their injuries were. He also started a couple of fires when little, claiming it was simply because he was so very bored and had nothing to do. He didn’t get what the fuzz was about either. He wasn’t trying to hurt anyone. And if someone got hurt, well, they should’ve taken better care not to tread near a freaking fire! This behavior was somewhat cured when he was given other, safer things to play with though, so his parents didn't dwell on it all that much.
Unlike his sister, Ren was never all that interested in school. He did like going there to meet new people, and eventually grew a lot more outgoing than before, but he never liked to study. He never saw the point. Why waste his time reading books when he could be out surfing or playing? It didn’t matter how many times he was told “it’s for your future”, either, as he just couldn’t grasp the concept. He didn’t have any solid hobbies, his interests changing all the time, and since it seemed like he wasn’t all that academically talented, his parents decided to try and have him follow in their footsteps instead, somewhat. See, Ren had always been consider good-looking by his peers, so his parents started to wonder if he could become a model. Ren wasn’t interest at first, but when he realized how much attention he would gather in a job like that, he finally agreed. At first he just did smalltime work; an actor in a commercial for Legos and the like, but as he grew, so did his workload.
His parents were working their asses off with their jobs, his sister was working hers off with her studies, and very soon, Ren found himself forced to do the same with his modeling. He had thought it would’ve been fun, but it was anything but. Tight schedules, smalltime fame that wasn’t worth the effort, all that stuff… he didn’t like it. His parents had been teetering on the brink of a burnout for a while, but it was Ren who was tipped over the edge first. He quit and decided that he’d never, ever work again. Working sucked. Why’d he have to work anyway? His parents were rich, he could just live with their money. They were his parents after all, it was their job to cater to him. It was everyone's job to cater to him.
It was three years ago that he quit his job and by now, most of the fame he had has been forgotten. He was never world famous after all, and while he was pretty well known back in Spain, in England where the family now lived, not many had heard of him, luckily enough. Because while he does love attention, he doesn’t feel comfortable with people mentioning his modeling job; it brings to mind all the stress and work.
Just some months ago Ren switched schools again in search for something new, something fun, something stimulating and so here he is, leaning against the outer wall of The Royal Academy for Higher Learning, already chatting up new people and making friends, hoping this school could provide him with more excitement than the last one did.
Colour of Digivice: Gold, with brown buttons and outlines.
Sovereign: Zhuquimon
Digimon
Species: Hawkmon
Name: Itzamna, “Izzy” as Renato calls him
Gender: Male
Personality: Hawkmon is an eternally curious individual, especially when it comes to anything human. He finds electric appliances and other things not present in the Digimon world (at least, not to his knowledge) immensely fascinating, and has a hard time keeping his talons off of such things. He likes to take things apart and study them, not caring that he sometimes causes unnecessary trouble for Ren that way.
He is always in search of knowledge and loves to learn new things, stopping at nothing to better himself. He’s somewhat serious, though, and doesn’t always like the things Ren does. He also holds a certain sense of justice and chivalry, so he and his partner don’t always exactly get along. Still, he believes that Ren is a good person deep inside and won’t have anyone telling him otherwise. His personality changes a tad when he digivolves and grows more mature and as he does, his sense of justice and intolerance for evil also increases.
Digivolution line: Pururumon - Poromon - Hawkmon - Aquilamon - Crowmon - Valdurmon
Differences: Pururumon and Poromon are like any other of their kind, but starting from his Rookie form, Izzy has some minor differences.
As a Hawkmon he has two feathers sticking out of his head instead of just one, his eyes are a darker shade of blue than usual, and he wears a similar leather bracelet on his left arm as his partner does (needless to say, Ren gave it to him).
As Aquilamon he retains the bracelet, this time on his left leg, and he still has two feathers sticking out from his head. His horns are slightly longer and more curved, and he has a bit bigger wings.
As a Crowmon the bracelet is on his extra leg, and all his colors are a bit darker shade than usual, with his beak being red like his talons.
The biggest change is probably in his Valdurmon form, where his entire body is gold in color, with his wings having a darker hue of said gold than anything else. The bracelet is around his neck.
