Digital Media Rules

This is basically a redo of Dan's (RaZoRLeAf's) rules with a few parts added and of course this little intro. So thank you to Dan for the rules. Now of course, this section has been merged with fan art because people were getting confused as to where to post their graphics. Well for all of you to know, THIS is the place you post them. Things in which you can post here include:

  • Video
  • Audio
  • Animation
  • Photography
  • Digital Imagery: (Graphics : Banners, Avatars, wallpapers ext)

Also, let me emphasize the fact that: TRAINER CARDS DO NOT BELONG HERE! THEY GO IN FANART!

General Rules

So, that means this is NOT the place to post your fan art, requests, fancomics or sprites, but you CAN post your video's, animations, photography and digital imager (banners, avatars ext). So don't go posting in the fan art section anymore for showcasing your banners and avatars, post them here!

  • General Rules still apply unless stated otherwise
As with any part of the forum, the general rules still apply. Do not SPAM. Do not post with the intention of causing arguments. Do not double post. Do not bump old topics. Check the main forums rules if you are ever in doubt.
*STATES OTHERWISE*
However, double posting is permitted only for updating your digital media thread with new work twenty-four hours after your previous post.

  • Provide proper warnings
If the work you are showing contains scenes that may upset someone, are controversial or contain artistic nudity then put a proper warning in the title and use direct links only. If you are ever in doubt contact one of the DM Moderators.

  • With regards to comments and ratings
The Star ratings should not be taken seriously. It's the comments inside the topics that should mean anything, and even then it's the constructive ones that you should be taking mind of. Anything else you shouldn't worry about. On the same note, we ask people not to rate threads using the star system for silly reasons such as you not liking the subject matter, or you disagreeing with the topic creator.

Do not reply to a topic with "Oh I love that it's so cool 10/10!". That is as helpful as using a water pistol full of lighter fluid to save an orphanage on fire. Provide constructive criticism. The more you offer good responses to peoples work, the better responses you'll get to yours.

  • Disclaimers, Permissions and Ownership

Chances are if you're making something that uses media other than that you've created yourself, then you wont have permission to use the material. For this, a copy and paste disclaimer will be available at the end of these rules, but please make sure you put some-kind of disclaimer with any work to say that anything you didn't create yourself belongs to the respective persons.

If you are found to be stealing someone else's work and passing it off as your own, you WILL be warned.

If you want to show off something that you did not make, then there is a thread especially for that. In it, you put anything you found and just want to comment on. You can only post someone else's worth in your own topic when you are using it as a comparison to your own work, as means of inspiration or as an example of something you wish to archive. Otherwise it all goes in this topic, the "I didn't make this" topic.

  • Attachments

Attachments are not big enough to hold images, and are certainly not big enough for Video or Audio media. A list of hosts will be provided at the end of the rules.

  • Requests

The Digital Media forum is for showcasing only. Do not start request threads or shops here. Any that are made will be closed, and further creation of them will earn you a warning. If you want to make things for people, or you want to request something, then do so in Fan Art Shops or PM the person concerned.

  • Showcasing

Please do not just post a link to your Gallery (be it Deviant Art, Photobucket, etc). Make sure you link to some specific pieces of art that you want to showcase, and tell us something about them. At your viewers convenience you can then mention the rest of your gallery.

  • Fanart
This section is NOT made for posting your fanart, fancomics or sprites, this section covers showcasing your graphics (such as banners, avatars and wallpapers) and by this, we do not mean requests. We took into account that many members were a bit hesitant on where to showcase their graphics so we made this section, in which you can also showcase your video’s animations and so on. If you want to post fanart, sprites or comics then please visit the other fanart sections.

  • Banner competitions
Yes we allow banner competitions, BUT we only allow one banner competition to be running at any time. So in this case we will allow MONTHLY competitions, for example if you wish to hold a banner competition in June, I will expect you to contact me at the beginning of June requesting to start a banner competition for that month. With the PM I will want the Rules ext. So its basically first come first serve unless your Rules fail to impress. After around the 5th of each month, if there has not been a PM requesting to start a banner competition then I will assume there is none.

As an extra note, if your banner competition did gain an interest and I was happy with the rules and the way things went, I will alow said person to continue doing the monthly competitions for as long as he/she wishes...you could say they gain themselves a title in a way.

Anyways, with monthly competitions, people will be expecting variance, so I don't want the competitions being the same every month, try and make them vary from one another. For example, one month could be by using grunge, another week could be with a specific category (humor).
