• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Discussion of Serebii's Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Discoveries

Two thing I've been wondering about, how soon do you get the exp share? I know it similar to XY's. The other thing is doesn't the secret bases only work in certain locations like they did in the originals or can it be "almost" anywhere?

The EXP Share is given to you in Petalburg Woods after you rescue the Devon researcher from Team Magma/Aqua. Secret bases are still only found in certain trees, bushes, or cave openings, but apparently, there are places off the late-game sea routes where you can set up your Secret Base next to several others, which makes sharing them easier since they're clustered together.

@Neji-and-Pidgeot: Beedrillite is in Sea Mauville, but it's unknown whether it's post-game-only or not. I'm not sure if anyone's found Pidgeotite yet.

@megarozz: The Friend Safari is absent. It's been replaced by a second day care in the Battle Resort, which also houses the Maison, move tutors, and BP shops.

So much excitement!

Really looking forward to getting the games.

Thank you very much, Serebii, for all of your hard work in regards to playing through the game and the notes in general!

Still don't completely get IGN's reasoning about too much water. Other than the sheer amount. Given what Serebii has said about the encounter rate (that it's lower) and the water... you go through it faster than before.

Petalburgh Woods, after the first encounter with Team Aqua/Magma.

Also, nice reference to that Unovan ship not being built yet. And yay, Deoxys can be caught! (Wonder how it's forme changes are handled in these games?)

It actually only just occurred to me that it was locked into a specific form in Gen 3.

@Photonkrios95 and @Paladin of Arceus Thank you

I'm assuming meteor shards will switch it's forms like it did in emerald? Not positive on that, but that's most likely. Where those shards\meteors are; I don't have a clue.

Just curious on that end.

Ooh, seems my question about the Move Tutor moves has been answered!

Yes! Dragon Pulse confirmed! I'm so going with Treecko as my starter in Omega Ruby! And the Elemental Punches are back too! Guess my Swampert in Alpha Sapphire will be getting to use Ice Punch~

Nice to see so many great Move Tutors moves returning, such as Giga Drain, Drain Punch, Superpower, Aqua Tail, Signal Beam, Heat Wave, Drill Run and so much more! One in particular I find interesting is the return of Water Pulse, which was a TM back in Gen 3 (and 4). Of course, back then, TMs were one-use, so I never used it on anything.

However, now... I might finally be able to teach that move to my Glaceon(s), assuming they can still learn that move that way! Yay! ^_^

Also, there were two other things that came to mind:

1. Does Shoal Cave work the same way as in the originals? Can you still get a Shell Bell every day from it?

2. What are the Battle Maison prizes?

Are Pokémon with hidden abilities available?

I believe sneak increases your chance of catching pokemon with hidden abilities, that's the rumour anyway; Don't know until Serebii confirms. Still, Hidden ability pokemon must be in the game (Rare atleast).

And the starters, as Serebii said, don't seem to come with Hidden abilities as standard. Might be a rare chance of getting one with Hidden Ability.

Edit: Does anyone know if Primal Groudon is weak to anything? Type charting suggests its only Water (x4), but it's ability ignores water weakness.

Also, apparently Primal doesn't count as Mega. So can have both at the same time

Aside from the 4x water weakness, Primal Groudon is weak to ground type moves.

So has anyone confirmed whether or not the Beedrillite is available in the main storyline, or just in the post-game?

Ah yes, makes sense.

Btw. Does Raquaza count as a proper Mega cause no Mega stone? I mean, can you use another Mega with Mega Rayquaza.

Serebii just confirmed Beedrillite in Storage Room in Sea Mauville. I believe you should be able to get to it. (Before game end)

Well, Ho-oh and Resheraim are on the Omega Ruby side. Palkia is my only hope now (Good thing I'm asking for Alpha Sapphire for Christmas though).
